The award-winning restaurant Nipa Thai is situated on the first floor of mid-century icon Lancaster London.

Providing unrivalled views across Hyde Park, the restaurant is renowned as one of London’s best Thai establishments using original Thai ingredients. Nipa Thai adds a holistic experience to your experience, entering the venue to a smell of essential Lemongrass oil that gently permeates the restaurant.

The extensive à la carte menu (An à la carte dinner would cost approximately £40 for a three course meal with wine), includes starters such as Por Pia Tod (Crisp spring rolls containing glass noodles, cabbage and crab meat with a sweet plum sauce). Main course dishes include specialities such as Pla Nueng Ma Nao (Steamed seabass in a garlic, lemongrass, lime leaf and chilli broth). There is also a wide selection of Thai salads, pan-fried dishes and red or green Thai curries.

Guests can enjoy delicately flavoured Thai desserts, such as Caramel Lychees (Caramel delice with a crunchy lychee centre, chilli and pineapple Carpaccio with salted caramel ice cream).

We tried the “Chandra” set menu (£42pp), one of the various set menus they have on offer (complete with wine pairing options, but we stuck to a delightful prosecco). Within this menu the highlights came a wonderfully aromatic green curry and a deliciously classic pad thai, jasmine rice to die for, and a rather refreshing coconut ice cream.

Nipa Thai, overlooking Hyde Park, has launched a traditional Nok Khamin menu from 5pm to 6.30pm, priced at £23 per person. With London’s West End and the Royal Albert Hall just a short distance from the hotel, the menu is the perfect pre-theatre or early bird dinner.
