This year Cornwall celebrates its 10th annual Pride in Newquay. Here is everything you need to know.
To celebrate LGBTQ life in Cornwall, there will be a family-friendly day event on the 25th August in the Cornish town of Newquay, followed by an adults only party in the evening. The day event takes place at the Killacourt right on the beautiful Cornwall coast.
Is there a Parade for Cornwall Pride?
The parade official marks the start of Cornwall Pride as it flows through the streets of Newquay. The parade will form up at Beach Road Car Park at midday (12 PM). If you are in the parade, it is advisable to arrive from 11 AM to make sure everything is in place ready for the parade to start at midday.
The march will then head out of the car park into Beach Road and head into Gover Lane and join Bank Street. Once in Bank Street the parade will make its way through the pedestrian street and join East Street.
The parade will then turn left into Bridge Road and then left again into Trebarwith Crescent and make its way to the Killacourt for approximately 1 PM.
Is Cornwall Pride free to attend?
Cornwall Pride’s day event is completely free to attend. it takes place on the Killacourt in Newquay. There will be stalls, food and beverages for sale. There will also be live entertainment to enjoy from 1 PM until 7 PM. The stalls will be available from 12 PM until 5:30 PM.
Is there an after party for Cornwall Pride?
Yes, on Saturday night there is an afterparty called Moonbow Party. It is a ticketed event. The Party has a licensed bar and is strictly an over 18’s event. Proof of age may be required before entry. The party is hosted at Tall Trees in Newquay, you can buy tickets from here.
Who is performing at Cornwall Pride?
There’s a whole host of performers at Cornwall’s pride. Performing will be: Lady Gaga, Katie Perry, David Bowie, Cher and ABBA tribute acts. There will also be a Greatest Showman extravaganza.
Headlining the event is the incredible, power-house vocalist Angie Brown.
