Everything You Need To Know About Warwickshire Pride 2017

THEGAYUK is proud to once again support Warwickshire Pride as it celebrates its 5th annual Pride event this weekend, Saturday 19th August.

Everything You Need To Know About Warwickshire Pride 2017

After months of planning and preparation, Warwickshire Pride will take place this Saturday 19th August. The annual event which celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community of Warwickshire has been running since 2013.

The event organiser Daniel Browne said, “Warwickshire was lagging behind the rest of the country when it came to LGBT representation. I had the vision for Warwickshire Pride upon waking up one morning and telling myself that I was going to put on a Pride festival in exactly three month’s time and that it would be fabulous. People thought I was crazy and that it would never happen. It did happen, and around 2,000 people came out to support the first Warwickshire Pride.”

This year the pride is Celebrating Love and Freedom and marking 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in England and Wales.

What time does Warwickshire Pride begin?

Warwickshire Pride officially opens at 11:00 am at the Pump Room Gardens, Leamington Spa. The event closes at 6:00 pm – followed by an Afterparty next door.

Is there a parade?

There is no official parade for Warwickshire Pride.

Where is Warwickshire Pride?

The pride day takes place at the Pump Room Gardens, Leamington Spa,  CV32 5AA.

What does Warwickshire Pride cost?

Warwickshire Pride is a FREE event for all of the community to enjoy.

Is there an after party?

This year’s Warwickshire Pride After Party is taking place at Episode Hotel in Leamington Spa.

Featuring live performances from Relley C (X Factor finalist), Asifa Lahore (‘the Uk’s first Muslim drag queen’), Feryl(LGBT+ pop icon), and Thomas Pearce (fantastic local artist).

There will also be some top tunes playing courtesy of DJ MinTyTree.

As well as all of that fabulous entertainment, there will also be giveaways, a raffle and prizes for the best dressed people (the more outrageous, the better).

We are also pleased to announce that Episode Hotel’s fantastic chef will be cooking a paella in the garden for all to enjoy. Food is also available from menus on the night.

Toilets will be gender neutral and a changing space will be available too.

Tickets are just £5 and all proceeds go towards putting on next year’s Warwickshire Pride. We prefer tickets to be bought in advance, but there will be some available at the daytime festival and on the door at the party.
