TheGayUK is proud to once again support Warwickshire Pride as it celebrates its 4th annual Pride event this weekend, Saturday 20th AugustPowerhouse vocalist Angie Brown Performs At Warwickshire Pride In 2015 (C) TheGayUK
After months of planning and preparation, Warwickshire Pride will take place this Saturday 20th August. The annual event which celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community of Warwickshire has been running since 2013.
The event organiser Daniel Browne said, “Warwickshire was lagging behind the rest of the country when it came to LGBT representation. I had the vision for Warwickshire Pride upon waking up one morning and telling myself that I was going to put on a Pride festival in exactly three month’s time and that it would be fabulous. People thought I was crazy and that it would never happen. It did happen, and around 2,000 people came out to support the first Warwickshire Pride.”

What entertainment will there be at Warwickshire Pride?
Warwickshire Pride welcomes a diverse and talented Main Stage line-up this year. Hosted by Sassi Africa and her royally invited guests of both celebrity and local talents, including the winner of Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent, Chelsea Adams.
11:00am – The grand opening of Warwickshire Pride 2016: Chris White (MP for Leamington Spa and Warwick) and Deputy Mayor of Leamington Spa, Councillor Caroline Evetts will cut the ribbon to declare Warwickshire Pride 2016 open. There will also be one or two other special guests helping to get Warwickshire Pride 2016 off to a start. All will be revealed on the day.
11:05am – Morocco Dave: The first artist on the main stage at Warwickshire Pride 2016 is electronica DJ Morocco Dave, who will be spinning some tunes to get you in the party mood. Morocco Dave did a DJ set at last year’s Warwickshire Pride and it went down so well that we just had to have him back this year.
11:25am – Thomas Pearce: Thomas is an 18 year old singer and musician from Kenilworth. He started playing piano at age 14, is completely self-taught and plays from his ear as he doesn’t read music. When considering booking Thomas, we were amazed by his keyboard playing and seriously impressed with his vocals. So come and watch Thomas perform on our main stage as the festival gets going.
11:45am – Tilly Pimlott: After working it on stage at Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent, Tilly Pimlott was voted into third place by the audience. We say it was a well deserved top three place and we’re excited to be welcoming Tilly to the Warwickshire Pride main stage this summer. Expect singing, fabulousness and lots of working it.
12:05pm – Louisa Coller: A lunchtime treat of poetry and singing will be provided by talented local Louisa Coller.
12:25pm – Kym Bickerton: Glamorous Kym was runner up at last year’s Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent and went on to perform a stunning set at last year’s Warwickshire Pride festival. It totally made sense to welcome Kym back to the main stage for Warwickshire Pride 2016.
12:45pm – Tarn: Last year’s Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent champion returns to the main stage for Warwickshire Pride 2016. Sometimes people are so talented that all they need to do is stand there and sing. Tarn is one of those talented people.
1:05pm – Sassi Africa: Sassi is a Drag Queen legend who has been doing her thing for several years after arriving on Earth in 2013. She has quickly risen to interational acclaim and last year was named as one of the top 10 Drag Queens in the UK. Sassi will be performing some tracks from her new album, Pleasure, plus dishing out plenty of sass.
1:25pm – Keith Clarke: When Keith Clarke performed at Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent, everyone was wowed by his talent. The judges called his performance “beautiful” and “note perfect”. The audience agreed and voted for Keith in their droves. Keith finished in second place and will be showcasing his fantastic voice on the Warwickshire Pride main stage.
1:45pm – Kirsty Wright: With Kirsty it is all about the voice, and what a voice she has. All you need to do is sit down, listen and be wowed by Kirsty’s vocals.
2:05pm – Eyeden: Hailing from Coventry, rising star Eyeden is a rap artist with realness in his lyrics and swag in his performances. We like him and think you will too.
2:25pm – Kian Taylor-Jackson: Back by HUGE popular demand, Kian Taylor-Jackson will be amazing everyone with his street dancing moves. You won’t want to miss this.
2:40pm – Katie Yeomans: We are pleased to be welcoming Katie to Warwickshire Pride 2016. She is a 63 year old trans lady who started transitioning two years ago. After appearing on radio and television to share her experiences, Katie will be giving an inspiring speech on our main stage so please come along and listen to what this wonderful lady has to say.
2:45pm – The George Michael Experience: As a multi-million, multi-platinum selling songwriter and producer in his own right, Jake Hook brings you The George Michael Experience. Having worked closely with George Michael’s very own guitarist, Jake’s guide vocals were often confused for the man himself. So prepare to go ‘Outside’ and check in for some ‘Fastlove”, as you won’t wanna miss it ‘when he hits that high’.
3:05pm – Amrick Channa: As well as taking part in The Voice in 2014, Amrick Channa has an international career as a house music vocalist and continues to wow crowds globally. We are thrilled to have Amrick joining us at Warwickshire Pride 2016 and just know that you are going to love him too. Get ready to dance.
3:25pm – Ryan Jagger: Our first headline act of the day is a seasoned Pride performer who knows how to get the crowd going. Known up and down the land for his fantastic Pride performances, Ryan Jagger will be bringing his talent to the Warwickshire Pride 2016 main stage for your entertainment.
3:45pm – Ruder Than U: Ruder Than U are a Coventry based Ska band, originating from the hit 2 Tone musical Three Minute Heroes at the Belgrade Theatre. If you’ve been fortunate enough to see them live, you will know how good they are. If you haven’t seen Ruder Than U live yet, you are in for a treat.
4:05pm – King Sammy Silver: In a first for Warwickshire Pride, we have internationally renowned Drag King Sammy Silver gracing the main stage at Warwickshire Pride 2016 to serve up some sass, sex and surrealness.
4:25pm – Twisted Rio: Twisted Rio is a talented pop artist and we are thrilled to have him on our main stage lineup for Warwickshire Pride 2016.
4:45pm – Jordan Gray AKA Tall Dark Friend: If you watched The Voice on BBC One earlier this year, you will no doubt be aware of the amazing, talented Jordan Gray. As part of Paloma Faith’s team, Jordan made it all the way to the live semi-final with infectious performanes that left us wanting more. So of course we had to book Jordan to headline Warwickshire Pride 2016.
5:15pm – Chelsea Adams: This year’s Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent champion is Chelsea Adams. On the night, everybody was wowed by Chelsea’s talent as she sang a Dusty Springfield classic and secured the largest number of audience votes. As winner of the contest, Chelsea will be performing a headline set on our main stage at this year’s Warwickshire Pride.
5:35pm – Vangelis: Our final headliner is another semi-finalist from this year’s The Voice. Vangelis was part of Boy George’s team and received critical acclaim for his version of Culture Club’s Do You Really Want to Hurt Me. It was an easy decision to make when it came to booking Vangelis to perform on the main stage at Warwickshire Pride 2016.
