This year Essex Pride takes place on the 24th June.
Essex Pride all began in 2002 and has seen its attendance increase by thousands of people who enjoy a day of celebration for the LGBT+ community of Essex and surrounding areas. However, Essex Pride originally started life as the “Chelmsford Gay Day”. It rebranded as Essex Pride in 2009. Here’s all the information you need for Essex Pride 2017.
What time is the Essex Pride Parade?
Essex Pride does not have a Pride Parade but the Pride event takes place in Central Park, Chelmsford. The event starts at midday and ends at 10:30 PM. Tickets are on sale and cost £12.50 in advance, available from here or £15.00 on the day. There are concessions for under 18s and a family ticket option available (2 adults + 2 children).
Who’s performing at Essex Pride?
There are over 30 acts performing at Essex Pride hosted by Saski, Nina Ambrose and Helen Scott. Headlining the event are: 00’s boy band, Five, Mutya Buena (formerly of Sugababes) Living Joy, RuPaul’s Drag Race‘s Charlie Hides, Daniel Lloyd, and Yinka Williams.
If you’re looking for drag talent at Essex Pride then you’ll be able to enjoy the presence of, Stephanie Von Clitz, Drag With No Name and Miss Jason.
There are still chances to meet and greet with some of the stars of the day, including Charlie Hides and Mutya
How to get to Essex Pride.
Essex Pride is taking place in Central Park in Chelmsford and is accessible by car, bus and train.
By train: Chelmsford Railway Station is a ten-minute walk away from Central Park. Use the TFL transport planner to find out train times. Chelmsford Railway Station has step-free access to both platforms. You can contact them on 0800 028 28 78
By car: Essex Pride does not have on-site parking for visitors. There are long and short stay car parks nearby and there is a selection of disabled parking spaces within the town centre. Chelmsford can be accessed via the A12 which is well linked and accessible via the A406 and M25.
