Young Gay Man Sends Friends Final Message Moments Before Being Killed In Hit And Run

A young gay man has been killed after being hit by a car in Texas City, moments after texting his friends to say he would be with them in moments.

Michael Alexander Hill, 21, known as Alex to his friends, was killed earlier in January, after being hit by a car that fled the scene, police have now launched an investigation to find the driver of the car.
Moments before the fatal incident Alex had texted his friends to tell them that he would be with them shortly.
Police are suggesting that Alex was hit by 12:30am on the 8th January, crossing Westheimer Road in Houston’s Montrose neighbourhood. According to eyewitnesses a dark four-door car was seen speeding away from the scene. Video from the area shows a vehicle running a red light, hitting Alex and then speeding off.
Alex’s family have launched a crowd funding campaign to help with transporting his body back to South Carolina and to help pay for his funeral, costs which could escalate to $12,000
Alex will be buried Monday, January 18, in Camden, South Carolina..
In an online obiturary, Alex was described as,
“A very expressive, fun loving person who adored getting on stage every season,
“In his high school years and after, he enjoyed discovering Bee Keeping, volunteering at SC state offices, cooking amazing dishes to share with friends, and stepping up to care for animals in need. In the last year, he moved to Houston, Texas and took up ice skating while working as a Master Waiter in fine dining; he enjoyed serving people. Alex met and developed many friendships in Texas, calling them his “Houston family.“This world will be a dimmer place without the love and life of Alex Hill; we were blessed with him for such a brief time.”
