Vintage isn’t just a trend in the fashion industry. Hairstyles from the 1950s and 1960s are still very much featuring as a popular trend for guys. With this in mind I think men need to rediscover the pleasure of going to a proper barbershop, and experiencing skills that are tried and tested and tailor made for men.
There has been a real revival of the Barbershop across the UK and its really exciting what they a real barber can offer. Having a specialist taking care of your hair makes a real difference from going into the big chain unisex salons that populate our high-streets. I have recently discovered an amazing Barber’s and I have loved every experience. I feel very pampered and relaxed and I know I’m not the only one.
So why not go out and try find your own favourite barber and see what a difference he could make to your hair. It’s time to embrace a more masculine way of getting your hair done.

  • 5 things you need to wear this spring

As Spring tries to make an appearance, and in the wake of Fashion Weeks across the world, thoughts are turned to what we should be scouring the high-street for this season.

Spring can be a difficult season to dress for, that’s why searching for those key transitional pieces is so important. With the weather being so unpredictable, a mac or lightweight jacket should be an essential in every gentleman’s wardrobe. For me it’s always got to be the classic trench. Every year I do the same search for light- weight jacket and I nearly always come back to the same thing. It’s such a versatile jacket. You can wear it over a suit for work or with a pair of jeans and shirt and jumper combination for a weekend in the city. This year Burberry Prorsum updated this classic with some amazing metallic fabrics. For those who can afford Burberry I would strongly advise a purchase. Metallics are a huge trend this year, but it’s not for the faint hearted. Pulling off this look can be daunting but for those who are brave enough inject some springtime excitement to an outfit, go for it. Try layering a metallic shirt with a plain round-neck jumper for a more casual ‘day-look’ or a smart jacket for a night out. For those who are still unsure about embracing this trend, then look for at accessories. A metallic satchel is a great statement, and shoes are another brilliant entry into this magpie world.

Strong, graphic, geometric prints are another hot trend this season. This is a great trend, and very wearable. High-street stores are taking inspiration from Jonathan Saunders and Jill Sanders collections from LFW and making this trend an affordable fashion statement for spring. Brilliant, bold colours make this trend perfect for this time of year, adding light to your wardrobe to contrast the more subtle colours of Winter. For the more conservative amongst you, go for a tie or pocket square to add a geometric element to your outfit. Ties and bow ties are an incredible, inexpensive way of exploring all the trends this season has to offer. We’ve seen prints in both full colour and monochromatic tones, both are fantastic. Combine either with a strong coloured pair of chinos, or shorts in one of this season key colours for an effortlessly cool look. For the fashion forward out there, there is another option. Marni is showing some spectacular tailoring using geometry inspired weaves. It’s an alternative to the more traditional checks and woven fabrics that are associated with tailoring. Pair a Marni suit with the new Nike trainers for an ‘the moment’ stylish ensemble.

Worn, by the likes of Reggie Yates and Russell Tovey, camouflage has taken the fashion world by storm. Introduced last year it has stood the test of time and returned this season with no sign of fading. There are no excuses for not owning something from this trend. There is so much variety in the way it can be worn. From a full camouflage outfit reminiscent of Matt Damon, in Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan from 1998, to something as simple as a pair of socks. It’s very versatile and gives a masculine feel to any outfit. If it still doesn’t get you excited, try one of the great colour variations that have emerged this spring. It’s no longer just about the green and brown tones, but in blue and grey and pink and purple.
