  • X Factor is back and with the worst ratings since 2004

Oh dear, Simon Cowell won’t be happy!

    x factor ratings are down

X Factor is back and apparently has suffered the worst launch ratings since 2004 with an average of 6 million people tuning in, according to Digital Spy.

The 14th series launched on Saturday with judges, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osborne, Nicole Scherzinger and Simon, a usually winning combination, but it failed to get the numbers in – with the show’s audience rivalling that of the 2004 launch. Last year’s launch had 6.8 million people watching.

Those ratings are expected to rise after all catch up streams are accounted for.

But it must be a worry for ITV bosses as the BBC’s rival, Strictly Come Dancing hasn’t even started yet!

It’s a far cry from the near 11 million people who would tune in during the show’s peak and, we’re sure,  it won’t be long before people are calling for the show’s axe.

  • X FACTOR Ratings Down, Celebrity Big Brother Levelled

Ratings for ITV’s flagship singing competition were down for the launch show, by a whopping 2 million – so were all the changes worth it?

With half a new judging panel including openly gay Nick Grimshaw the latest viewing figures don’t make for good reading despite all the usual talk of change, upping the game and far-reaching promo for the new series. The new judging panel includes Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw and Simon Cowell. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini joins the panel despite being voted by Heat readers as the panellist they’d least like to see return.

X Factor’s first show suffered a near 2 million audience drop, year on year, taking 7.11 million viewers from 8PM. In 2014 the first show received 9.03 million viewers. However, the show did dominate Saturday night TV with nearly 40% audience share.

Celebrity Big Brother’s debut on Channel 5 was watched by 2.2 million people, which is just down on the 2.4 million people who watched the previous year’s launch.

  • Highest Ratings For Celebrity Big Brother Since Move To Channel 5

Channel 5 is enjoying the battle of rating, thanks to its explosive new series.

Following a very strong launch on 7th January (which consolidated at 3.6 million viewers and 16 percent share*), Channel 5 is delighted to announce Celebrity Big Brother’s highest performing weekend on record, since the series moved to the channel in 2011.

On Friday 16th January, 2.9 million viewers (13.2 percent share) tuned in to watch Chloe Goodman get evicted and awaited the shock arrival Katie Price. On Saturday 17th January, 2.5 million viewers (11.4 percent share) witnessed the clash between Perez Hilton and Alexander O’Neal.

On Sunday 18th January, 3.2 million viewers (13.2 percent share) watched Alexander O’Neal choose to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House.

This explosive series has also been the number 1 tweeted about television show each day since launch.
