Mother’s Day And Drag Queens – What’s Not To Like
An event has been planned to bring together mothers and drag queens… What could possibly go wrong…
Nothing of course!
Rupaul’s own UK drag ambassador finalist Rujazzle is heading up to Glasgow to take part in the first ever Mummy Issues drag event for this year’s Mother’s Day.
The drag show is a part of the Creative City Festival, organised by four City of Glasgow College students and it’s due to take place on the 6th March.
Ten acts will be joining Rujazzle include Glasgow’s own Lacy Rain and newer queens such as Wig Wars winner Lucy Stewpid.
A spokesperson for the event said,
The students want to bring drag a new audience while creating a space people feel safe and without prejudice. It’s an environment encouraging fun but also awareness. With drag having changed drastically over the years and the perceptions of society changing, it’s important that people’s awareness also changes.
So if that sounds like your thing head to the Record Factory, 17 Byres Rd, Glasgow G11 5RD on the 6th March 7-10PM

10 UK Queens Who Would Slay In RuPaul’s Drag Race
Imagine if you will, that there was a British Drag Race… Oh, how wonderful would that be. Well, there’s such a wealth of drag talent in the UK we’d be spoilt for choice, well here’s our top 10…
10) Meth
Slightly amazing… Beautiful to boot. A real contender for winner if there was a British Drag Race.
9) Sassi Afrika
Warwickshire’s number 1 drag queen – has released a number of tracks from her album Shockalolic our favourite in the office is Pink To Make The Boys Wink. Take a listen you’ll soon realise why it’s genius. She’s not working… She’s working it.
8) Mary Mac
A powerhouse Scottish queen, whose vocals are second to none. Was a part of the Supreme Fabulettes before going on to front her own show at The Admiral Duncan.
7) Crystal D’Cantor
This fabulous queen is what British Drag is all about, getting down with the crowd, wearing the biggest wig you can find/afford and animal print. Always animal print. You could write what this queen doesn’t know about backcombing on the back leg of a My Little Pony.
6) Sandra
There probably isn’t a club, bar, backroom or toilet that Sandra hasn’t performed in. Having been on the scene for over 15 years – Sandra has sworn, blown and bitch slapped her way to our top 10 ten. All hail the Whore Of Hampsted.
5) Dave Lynn
Ah Dave Lynn… In a career that’s spanned 35 years Dave Lynn knows how to control an audience like a wireless vibrator. She rose to fame after entering a competition at the now defunct Black Cap and the only queen to have appeared on The Weakest Link with Anne Robinson (praise be) 4 times.
4) Dusty O
Described as queen bee of Soho, you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of Dusty O once she’s up on stage, with mic in hand.
3) Titti La Camp
Basically RuPaul would have no idea what hit her if Titti was in the house – it’d most likely be a chicken leg. Titti La Camp’s routine, is, well the stuff of legend. The audience knows what’s coming up and loves every moment of it. From Michelle McManus to Karen Carpenter.
2) Regina Fong
Regina Fong is fondly remembered by those on London’s gay scene. She coined the phrase Her Imperial Highness. Sadly Fong died in 2003 from Cancer aged just 56.1) Paul O’Grady as Lily Savage
Possibly the most famous drag queen the UK has ever enjoyed. Although Paul O’Grady is unlikely to don another pair of heels, we think Paul O’Grady could teach even Ru a thing or two about Drag.

Courtney Act In Beheading Music Video
Hail to the artists… but we’d like to know what you think about this video.
It has to be said we love this song, v v catchy, but we’re not too sure on the subject matter of the video. Slick yes, Courtney Act looking hotter than ever, yes – Beheading. Not so much.
Check out and proud gay rapper Andre Xcellence’s new video, starring Courtney Act, for the single he’s just dropped called Game Of Thrones complete with veil wearing, sword carrying dancer.
Andre plans to conquer the world independently with a force not seen since the debuts of Eminem, and 50 Cent. Along with launching himself as an artist, he has also formed a record label by The name of “American Commission” with his executive production team “The Prodigal”. Together they have set high expectations for themselves and the new label. The plan is to break boundaries and create a new standard of “Xcellence” in the music industry
We can’t make our minds up – is it a brilliant free speech torch, where music conquers all, or is it bad timing and bad taste? You decide.

Drag Queen Becomes Mr S F Leather 2015
The times are definitely changing.
The prestigious MR S.F. LEATHER 2015 title was won on Saturday by a Drag Queen called Jem Jehova. She is the persona of Trevor Wisnieski whose version of drag is ‘San Francisco style’ in that she is bearded and androgynous.
To qualify for the competition, Trevor/Jem had to prove an abiding love for leather and the leather community, and beat out fellow contestants representing bars and businesses around town modelling gear on stage. He will now go on to compete at the INTERNATIONAL MR. LEATHER CONTEST in Chicago in May.
On of Jem’s sister drag queens Juanita More! writes on Facebook, “It’s a new world in San Francisco. Congratulations to [Jem] on her title. She is living proof that you can be EVERYTHING in SF.”

BOOK REVIEW | Dr.a.g
‘Dr.a.g. isn’t what you wear and it isn’t who you are. It’s how you wear who you are.’
Drag (a man who is ‘dressed as a girl’) has become a diverse form of expression that challenges, entertains and educates by pushing boundaries, while embracing beauty, comedy and glamour. The performers in this illustrated book are evidence of that diversity, captured by some of the top photographers working in the world today. All of them have graciously donated their work to make the book possible. What started as a small independent film fundraiser has grown into this beautiful coffee-table book.
Actor and author Christopher Logan launched the ‘dr.a.g.’ book a few years ago, but the project stalled when his original publisher fell into bankruptcy. Logan believed in the project, garnered a loan, and kept the existing distribution contracts. Logan is bringing back the glamour with photography books. In a world when the printed word is easily downloaded, the book that survives is the photo book. “You just cannot experience the vibrancy of these photographs online. They are meant for the printed page,” says Logan.
The ‘Bookthefilm Edition’ features famous faces from Frank Marino, Jackie Beat and Lady Bunny to Joey Arias, Jeffree Star and Jim Bailey. Additionally, several portraits from noteworthy drag queen photographers are included in this book, including Magnus Hastings, Austin Young and more. The book also features everyone’s favourite queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race including Chad Michaels, Courtney Act, Yara Sofia, Roxxy Andrews, Detox, Akashia, Tammie Brown, Nina Flowers, Bebe Zahara Benet, Jujubee, Morgan McMichaels, Shannel, Ongina and Raja.

Drag Race To Come To The UK?
The gayverse is all of a buzz after sources said that RuPaul’s drag race could be coming to Channel 5 later this year.
Last year it was reported that Jonathan Ross had obtained the rights to develop a UK version of the hit drag show in the US. Jonathan previously said, “I’ve been working with Jodie on a UK version [of the show]… Unfortunately, we have had to take a break because of some family issues. But we’re hoping to pick it up again in the near future.”
Last month we spoke to La Voix who said that she’d jump at the chance to star in the UK series. La Voix became one of the UK’s most famous drag queens after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2014.
Michelle Visage, who is a judge on Drag Race is currently starring in Celebrity Big Brother which is being aired on Channel 5.
The Race Family page said that they were expecting to reveal more information within the next two weeks. We reached out to Channel 5 for comment on the show, a spokesperson for the channel said, “There are no discussions around a UK version of the show”.
