Very busy area of wasteground, bushes and woods that has taken over in popularity now the Arena has been demolished by developers.  Mandela Way is a road between the Metro Centre train station and Costco, in Gateshead, 2 miles from Newcastle city centre.  The woods to the northwest side of the road have become the most popular gay cruising site in the North East.
