News that the Court of Appeal has refused the application of a gay man for his husband to be treated in the same manner upon his death as a surviving heterosexual spouse has underlined that the principal of equality does not extend to every area of the law.

Ray The Gay Builder Gets Married
Gaydio-celebrity, eastender, ex-boxer, and pink helmet-donner Ray Bulloch the self-proclaimed first openly gay builder has just tied the rainbow-knot.
Ray sprinkled his fairy dust all over the press last year when his fifteen-year-old building company came screwing, hammering and drilling its way out the closet, pink transit van in tow.
We’ve all heard: “Why have a gay friendly builder, when you can have a friendly gay builder” – that’s our Ray.
Bulloch met his long term partner Micky (Michael Watson), 52 who works in the theatre, fifteen years ago on an AOL chat room. Their first date was a trip to London’s Victoria to see Bombay Dreams at the Apollo – Ray said, “we are like chalk and cheese, but it was love at first sight”.Ray and Micky decided to walk down the Chelsea Town Hall aisle on Sunday 27th September at 1pm – not only because they love each other, but they wanted to give one another peace-of-mind if anything happened in the future. Bulloch said, “Micky doesn’t have a big family, and now he will”.
Ray decided to lose the pink tool belt, helmet and drill and opted for matching grey, with subdued light grey over check, Hugo Boss whistle-and-flutes – with of course, matching powder pink shirts and cerise pink paisley ties.
The wedding reception was held at Bluebird on the Kings Road, a handful of confetti throw away from the wedding venue. Bulloch said “I just want our 50 guest to celebrate our wonderful day”.
The only sad thing about the day is that Reggie (a shiatsu), Scooby (half staffie half english bull terrier), Ronnie (tabby cat), Louise (a one-eyed cat) and Elvis (a blasphemous parrot) couldn’t attend – they all live with the newlyweds and are a big part of their family.No doubt the five family members that weren’t allowed at the wedding, were treated to a piece of the Choccywoccydoodah wedding cake when Ray carried Micky over the threshold.

Designer Marco Morante Pays Homage To Kim Davis – Sort Of
Renowned fashion designer Marco Morante gave Kim Davis centre stage at the showing of his Spring 2016 collection, well sort of.
Morante raised eyebrows and smiles by wearing a simple black t-shirt with a picture of Kim Davis on it at the exhibition of his 2016 spring fashion show.
However the picture had been doctored and someone added a big black dildo, complete with massive balls to the picture, making it look like the anti-gay marriage Rowan County clerk is celebrating the power of sex toys.
The clerk, who has married four times, holds a strong religious belief that same-sex couples should not be afforded marriage licenses, despite it being the law of the land, and has stated that she should be exempt from discharging that part of her job. She spent 6 days in jail because of her refusal to sign or give out licenses to gay couples last month.
During his recent trip to the United States, the Pope allegedly, according to Ms. Davis’ lawyer met with her and “thanked” her for her courage and told her to “keep strong”.

Dustin Lance Black and Tom Daley Are Engaged
Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have announced their engagement.
The loved up pair, who have been dating for 2 years announced their engagement via The Times in the Births, Deaths and Marriages section.
“The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence.”
Tom Daley first hinted that he was in a relationship with DLB in his coming out video back in December 2013. He said that he had fallen in love with someone that had changed his life.
Hurrah for the pair and we’re eagerly awaiting our invite…Tom Daley was recently revealed as being one of the UK’s top gay icons, as voted for by readers of THEGAYUK. He came runner up to Stephen Fry.

George Takei Slams Kim Davis, Anti-Gay Marriage Clerk
George Takei has slammed Kim Davis calling her “no hero” and suggests her actions are un-American.
Kim Davis the woman who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in Kentucky has come under fire by former Star Trek star George Takei.
The 78-year-old star took to Facebook to slam Ms. Davis, who was jailed for contempt of court. He said,
“So let us be clear: This woman is no hero to be celebrated. She broke her oath to uphold the Constitution and defied a court order so she could deny government services to couples who are legally entitled to be married.”
Ms. Davis who left the jailhouse to the ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ soundtrack yesterday to applause and cheers she cried,
“Thank you all so much, I love you all so very much. I just to give God the glory his people have rallied and you are a strong people. We serve a living God, who knows exactly where each and everyone of us is at. Just keep on pressing. Don’t let down, because he is here.”
Mr. Takei went on to suggest that while she was entitled to her beliefs but should not break the law whilst practising them, saying,
“In our society, we obey civil laws, not religious ones. To suggest otherwise is, simply put, entirely un-American.”
The Kentucky clerk was released from jail and is expected to return to work shortly. It has not appeared that she has changed her mind and risks breaking the law if she continues to deny gay couples marriage licenses.
Calls have been made for Ms. Davis to step aside if she is unable to fulfil her job.
While Ms. Davis has been in jail her place of work have been issuing marriage licenses to “all legally eligible couples” in the county. If, when she returns she continues to deny gay couples, she will likely end up in jail again.
Same-sex marriage was legalised in the US, across all 50 states in June this year.

This Women In The US Thinks She Is Above The Law
It didn’t take long, but one woman has decided that America’s marriage equality laws don’t apply to her.
The US made a huge step forward this year in equality for same-sex couples when it legalised gay marriage, however, one clerk in Kentucky, who is apparently on her fourth marriage, has decided that the law doesn’t apply to her.
Due to her religious beliefs Kim Davis, 49, is refusing to hand out a marriage license to a gay couple, even though there is a federal court order for her to do so.
She appealed the order to the Supreme Court of the United States requesting that her religious freedoms should exclude her from doing that part of her job. However the court refused her request.
Ms. Davis was caught on camera refusing to give David Moore and his partner a marriage license.

Elaine Paige Makes History With Live On-Air Gay Marriage Proposal
Musical theatre superstar Elaine Paige has made history on her BBC Radio 2 programme as she read out a marriage proposal from Pieter to his boyfriend Keith.
Regular Radio 2 listener Keith, was on air with Elaine Paige when she read out a moving letter from his partner Pieter. The letter was about “what love is.”
At the end of the letter Pieter popped on the line and proposed to him a first for Elaine’s programme on BBC Radio 2.
A spokesperson for the show said,
“Elaine was, as I’m sure many of the listeners were, almost in tears. It was beautiful. Pieter then came on the line and popped the question to his long time love.”
The proposal which left Keith in shock was immediately accepted with Keith saying it was a “brilliant surprise” and “out of the blue”.
The on air proposal was met with support from many Twitter users congratulating Keith and Pieter on their new engagement.
