  • Gay characters ALERT… Apparently there’s a couple in Alien: Covenant

    YASSSSS. Representation in the Alien franchise is coming.

    Apparently, there’s a gay couple in the latest Alien’s film, Alien: Covenant and it’s out this Friday. It’s the first time an openly gay character has appeared in the franchise, which dates back to the late 70s.

    Lope (Demián Bichir) and Hallett (Nathaniel Dean) are two members of the Covenant crew. It’s a ship that’s taking 2,000 colonists to a new planet. They hope to colonise a new planet… But like the trailer tell us, escape to paradises always start in hell.

    We won’t give too much away but it all gets a bit emosh.

    Alien: Covenant opens in cinemas on May 12.

  • George Shelley devastated after the sudden death of his sister

    George Shelley’s sister, Harriet Shelley has been killed in a car accident, leaving her family devastated and heartbroken.

    • Harriet Shelley, 21 was in a car accident at the end of April.

    • She sustained serious head injuries in the crash.

    • George Shelley rose to fame during X Factor in 2012

     

    Former Union J star George Shelley is mourning the death of his sister, Harriet who killed in a car accident in Bristol last month. She was just 21 when she died. Ms Shelley had been in intensive care since April 28, when the car she was travelling in crashed. She suffered several severe head injuries and was put into intensive care.

    A source for the family told The Sun,

    “George and the entire family are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of their beloved, beautiful Harriet.

    “They are all together, supporting each other at this difficult time and would appreciate the time and space to do so before they make any further comments.”

    George’s bandmate, Jaymi Hensley paid tribute to Harriet, saying that she was the “most beautiful spirit” and a “truly wonderful person”.

    So far George has remained silent on social media and has not commented on the death of his sister.

    The former boy bander has been holidaying with his boyfriend and was abroad when the accident happened.

     

  • FILM REVIEW | Guardians of the Galaxy 2

    GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 – The Fab 5 of the Marvel universe are back after the surprise huge success of part 1 – cue big laughs, huge action and a fantastic 70’s cheese pop hit soundtrack.

    Nutshell – After saving the universe last time our heroes are now in huge demand as hired troubleshooters across the stars dispatching monsters to the songs of ELO. Groot is now Baby Groot and Rocket the gun-toting racoon is causing havoc left, right and centre. Starlord finds his father, but is everything as it seems? Soon all hell is breaking loose and the universe needs saving all over again. This time with even more comedy in the funniest Superhero film of all time.

    Running Time – 136 minutes; Certificate – 12A.

    Tagline – ‘Anyone Can Save The Galaxy Once’.

    THEGAYUK Factor – Don’t be late as right at the start Chris Pratt gets naked in two shower scenes which are wholly unnecessary except to satisfy his massive gay following that he is very aware of. You will greatly enjoy his buff muscular body and at this rate, we expect him to deliver full naked ass shots in next year’s Jurassic Park and we really hope he has to bend over to pick something up.

    Cast – Chris ‘Mr Muscles’ Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and the returning voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper as Groot and Rocket respectively.

    Key Player – It’s a three-way split between whoever produced the great sing-a-long Awesome Mix Tape 2, James Gunn who directed but even more successfully wrote it and Bradley Cooper whose rodent gets all the very best lines.

    Budget – $200 Million which is a whopping sum but after its first week of worldwide release it has made $250 Million and it will make at least three maybe four times that in total – a new money making bandwagon has begun – sequel movies are going nowhere.

    Best Bit – 0.47 mins; Rocket Raccoon takes on a whole army of opponents in a forest with a bunch of ingenious traps that will get any cinema crowd whooping and hollering. When Rocket is on the screen this movie soars.

    Worst Bit – 1.35 mins; The characters here are great the story isn’t. This really hits home at the three-quarter mark when the big bad’s plan is revealed and you A) don’t understand it B. have no interest in it and C) don’t want it resolved by endless blinding CGI.

    Little Secret – They planned a cameo by David Bowie but his death vetoed that, Miley Cyrus, The Hoff and Howard The Duck do make it in. Don’t be late or you will miss Chris Pratt naked and certainly don’t leave early as there are a record-breaking five scenes during the end credits.

    Further Viewing – Guardians 1, Avengers 1 & 2, Thor 1 & 2, Fantastic Four movies if you really have to and everything in the Marvel cannon as all these films intertwine and we are heading fast towards Avengers Infinity War which is two films where the Guardians meet The Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Spiderman etc – The biggest movie or car crash of all time coming to megaplexes next year.

    Any Good – Wow, this is great fun, really really great fun, you will laugh, cry, dance, sing and yelp with excitement – go see it now. After last years endless blockbuster disasters, yes Ghostbusters/Independence Day/Batman V Superman and X-Men we are looking at you with Beauty and the Beast & Fast & Furious 8 and now this we could be in for a run of Billion dollar movies through 2017 via Pirates/Aliens/Star Wars/Apes/Transformers/Minions etc – we predict 2017 will be the biggest money making year in a Century of Hollywood movie making; Exciting times.

    Rating – 89% out of 100.

  • Moonlight wins best kiss in the MTV awards

    Moonlight can add another accolade to its trophy chest. Best Kiss!

    Not only did Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight win Best Picture at the Oscars, but now it’s also won, Best Kiss at the annual MTV Awards. Best Kiss is one of the most talked about, coveted prizes from the awards.

    The kiss happens between stars Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome.

    Accepting the award Jerome said,

    “I think it’s safe to say that it is okay for young performers,

    “Especially us minority performers, to step out of the box. This award is for that. It’s for artists who need to step out of the box and do whatever it takes to tell a story and whatever it takes to make a change, to get people to wake up.”

    Sanders said,

    “This award is bigger than Jharrel and I,

    “This award represents more than a kiss. This is for the others, the misfits.”

    Moonlight was the first gay-themed film to win at the Oscars and now it’s the first gay-themed movie to win Best Kiss at the MTV awards.

  • Gay teen pushed by UNCLE off 9th floor apartment, to his death, in Chechnya

    A horrifying story has emerged from Chechnya where a gay teenager was apparently killed by his uncle.

    • Numerous reports are being published about gay men are being treated by authorities in Chechnya

    • The story about 17-year-old’s alleged murder told by a religious leader.

    • Survivors reveal that police are allegedly telling families to kill their gay relatives.

    A 17-year-old male was allegedly pushed off the 9th floor of an apartment in Chechnya, by his uncle, to his death, after he was outed to his family. He was killed to “wash the shame” from his family because they have a gay relative. The story has emerged after a survivor from the gay detention camps in Chechnya told his story to the Russian magazine, Snob.

    Speaking to the magazine the survivor spoke about he tried to open up about his sexuality to his religious leader, who told him to leave and that he was “disgusting”. The leader said he hoped his “relatives have the dignity to wash away your shame”.

    The leader also told him about the killing of the 17-year-old. He said, that the uncle had been invited to commit the act in order to “wash the shame” away from the family.

    It has been reported that Chechen police have been telling the parents of gay children to kill them. Earlier in the week, another survivor told France 24 News, that police told families, “Either you do it, or we will’. They call it: ‘Cleaning your honour with blood.”

    The survivor added,

    “We’ve always been persecuted, but never like this. Now they arrest everyone. They kill people, they do whatever they want.”

  • Tom Daley is in hospital

    Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger – that’s what Tom Daley has said from his hospital bed, as fans worry about what put him there.

    Olympian Tom Daley has been in the hospital but hasn’t told his fans why he was there. He’s only given the rather cryptic message, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!” and promised to be back on the diving boards again.

    The hospital admission comes just days before it is expected that he and his partner, Dustin Lance Black are heading down the aisle to get married. The loved-up couple has been together for four years, but haven’t made the date of their wedding public, although The Sun reports that they are planning to get wed this weekend.

    In January, Tom told the Sun: “The date is set, and we’re raring and ready to go for that wedding now.”

    Speaking about the app, Marketing Manager Lawrence Young said,

  • Gay marriage will be “demolished” if Marine Le Pen wins the French election

    Marine Le Pen’s victory in the forthcoming French election could spell the end of same-sex marriage, her niece has “guaranteed”.

    Marion Maréchal-Le Pen has “guaranteed” that the repeal of gay marriage laws will happen should her aunt, Marine Le Pen, be successful in the forthcoming French Presidential elections.

    Speaking on Sunday morning the far-right National Front MP, the youngest MP to be elected in France, Ms Maréchal-Le Pen said that she’d ensure her aunt follows through with her threat of removing same-sex marriage in France. Marine Le Pen first announced the policy earlier in the year.

    Ms Maréchal-Le Pen said,

    “It will not be the first priority, but … [repealing gay marriage] is a promise that we will stick to, and I will personally guarantee that this bill is demolished”.

    Proposal number 87, was buried at the back of Le Pen’s manifesto. It contained this pledge,

    “The Front National will replace the provisions made under the Taubira law [the bill enabling people of the same sex to wed, named after Justice Minister Christine Taubira] with civil unions,”

    Ms Maréchal-Le Pen said that it would not be the “first priority” but that she would “personally guarantee that this bill is demolished”.  The 27-year-old MP is well-known for her opposition to gay marriage.

    Last year she suggested that accepting gay marriage could lead to multiple partner marriages. In an interview with the Telegraph she said that if society was to break away from the heteronormative model of opposite-sex marriages,  other “minorities” could want their love recognised by the state.

    Marine Le Pen’s opposition in the forthcoming election, Emmanuel Macron backs gay marriage and has said that would support IVF (PMA) for lesbian couples. The duo goes head to head on the 7th May 2017 to become the 25th French president.

    France legalised marriage between same-sex couples in 2013. It was the 14th nation to do so.
