This year’s Big Brother has a number of out gay and bisexual men as housemates, four to be exact. The largest number since the show started over a decade ago.

In this evening’s show Alex and Sam have a heart to heart about growing up gay and why certain gay men act in particular ways when they come out.

Andy West, who was suspended by the BBC after he criticised the broadcaster for their decision to add Tyson Fury on the Sports Personality shortlist reveals,

“I do remember feeling unpopular when I was 9 or 10, I tried to be different so I could have friends.”

    Sam adds;

“I don’t judge people, but what I do think is sometimes people think just because they are gay they have to act a certain way, because those people expect them to be.

In certain situations they feel they have to act more stereotypically gay. Each to their own. I think you should be true to yourself and be real.”

    Andy replies;

“People say to me that I don’t seem gay…”

“I’m livid,” Ryan fumed. “He’s just got his willy out to the whole group… Get in here now… Go and get your dick out to everyone.”

The strip tease came after Ryan and Hughie had a little chat in the pod to see where their relationship was going. Ryan was pushing that the pair were now boyfriends.

Big Brother housemate Andrew Tate removed after homophobic and racist tweets discovered

Big Brother housemate Andrew Tate was removed after the discovery of homophobic and racist tweets on his social media accounts.

    Channel 5
    Andrew

Contestant Andrew Tate was removed from the Big Brother house after homophobic and racist tweets were found on his twitter timeline.

The tweets were sent several years ago before he entered the BB compound. However producers of show eluded that his removal was due to “new information” – and not necessarily because of the offensive tweets on his social media account.

In one tweet on Tate’s timeline LGBT education in schools was criticised.

“They are teaching gay issues to 7-yr old kids. BY LAW. A pure homosexual cannot reproduce, so they need your children for new partners. OK.”

Racist comments posted on Tate’s timeline suggest that Cheryl Fernadez Versini was a “w*g socket” referring to her marriage to Ashley Cole and another racially offensive tweet read, “I wanted to see black people running id just threaten them with jobs [sic].”

Some are overt, some are more subtle, but for this list, I want to focus on the LGBT characters in cartoons that were either downright offensive in their depictions, or that caused controversy at the time when it was revealed they were LGBT.

New Big Brother house looks like the set of Going Live

New pictures have been released of the Big Brother house – and it’s a bit of blast from the past.

    Big Brother Summer 2016

Remember Going Live on Saturday mornings? Well if you don’t it basically looked like the new Big Brother house decoration.

Channel 5 released the pictures of the house, which features bright neon colours in all the main living spaces.

And Star Trek fans will be kept happy with the bedroom and kitchen area – it looks very futuristic.

The house’s bathroom also features an indoor lawn and hanging plants from the ceiling.

Outside in the garden the lawn has been made smaller – and the decking features some bright streaks of colour. There’s also a double pool.

  • TV REVIEW | Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season Two

TV REVIEW | Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season Two

I just watched the first episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Insert sad face emoji.

Oh dear what’s happened to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? The first series was one of the funniest TV shows on television – okay Netflix – is that classed as television these days?

It was rather glorious. The female lead sitcom which blasted on to our screens in 2015, was a breath of fresh air, colour – and return to sublime absurdist comedy. It’s about a woman, Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) who after being bunkered by a religious zealot for 15 years is finally freed and makes a new life for herself in New York collecting on her travels an assortment of outrageous characters, each more offensive than the last  – but the second season’s first episode just left me with a huge sad face.

I maybe late to the party with season two, which was released earlier this year, but I’ve made it a house rule that we can’t have anymore than three TV binges happening at once – we have to complete something before we can start something new – so I made my housemates rush finish Camping Julia Davis’s brilliantly cringey new offering, HappyIsh Steve Coogan’s brilliantly insightful new dark comedy and the latest series of Person Of Interest – it’s a guilty pleasure – don’t ask.

After all that binge watching maybe I was tired. Tired as Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s script, which is worrying at this every early stage in its lifetime. It should still feel fresh and with Tina Fey’s brilliant mind this is a TV show that should run for many series.

Sad to say, the comedy that brought Kimmy out into the open feels rather bunkered. The first episode didn’t even raise a polite titter (and I laugh at dog videos on YouTube, so the bar is pretty low).

What has happened to our beloved Kimmy? Maybe I’ll give one more episode.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is available to stream on Netflix now.

Hunky man-bander Duncan James, 38,  is to join the cast of Hollyoaks. The star who has just enjoyed a successful run of dates in a UK tour of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, is now set to continue his acting success by joining the cast of teen soap Hollyoaks.

Excited to be joining the cast, Duncan said,

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Hollyoaks team.

“I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic on and off screen talent on the show and bringing the character of Ryan to life.”

The openly gay singer will play a grounded “committed” family man who moves into the Chester fictional suburb of Hollyoaks.

However in a cryptic tweet last night Duncan hinted that his character would be working “very closely” with the gay character Ste Hay, played by Gaydio presenter Kieron Richardson.

“Well all I’m gonna say it that my character will be working very closely with !!!! Watch this space!”

Although the singer has appeared on television many times, this will be his first major acting role. He did however appear in the long running Police soap, The Bill in 2009 for one episode.

Meanwhile his band Blue have also been having success – with a UK wide tour and a crowd-pleasing appearance at Pride in London last year.

    Good luck Mr James!

  • A Look At The Man Who Made David Walliams Go Gay

David Walliams attracted a fair bit of criticism over the weekend for showing attraction to an act on BGT.

    ©THAMES/SYCO TV

Actor, comedian, author and BGT judge David Walliams attracted a bit of criticism over the weekend after he was seen to be acting gay for laughs – although on further inspection, perhaps he was right to get excited.

Comments appeared on Twitter after David became excited when contestant Charlie Placais walked on to the BGT stage with his highly chiseled torso on show – and displayed incredible strength and poise during his acrobatics. As Charlie exited the stage David left his seat and ran after him to hug him.

David Walliams told the Radio Times in an interview that he hated it when people “confessed” or “revealed” their sexuality.

He suggesting that someone’s ‘heart and soul’ is more important than their sex.

Judging by these pictures we can see why.
