YouTube has been under fire since it came to light that it had restricted many viewers from watching content from LGBT+ content creators on its platform.

Pride In London, the UK’s biggest pride festival, has had 55 of its 225 videos restricted.

Last night the Hashtag #YouTubeIsOverParty trended worldwide as users and audiences blasted the move by the world’s biggest video platform.

Taking to their official Twitter account, Pride In London displayed how their playlist had been affected by turning on and off a restricted and non-restricted view of their account. Fifty-five of their videos from their public playlist were restricted.

Pride In London’s video content has no adult content on its channel.

Restricted mode is turned off by default, but some users have found restriction has been automatically turned on, effectively making the video impossible to watch unless the viewer is logged on if the content is deemed “potentially inappropriate”.

YouTube apologised for the action saying, but only hours after the hashtag had started trending,

“LGBTQ+ voices … [were] a key part of what YouTube is all about”, it said that only “mature content” was supposed to be restricted.

“The intention of Restricted Mode is to filter out mature content for the tiny subset of users who want a more limited experience. LGBTQ+ videos are available in Restricted Mode, but videos that discuss more sensitive issues may not be.”

In a full explanation of the YouTube explained that they were looking into the concerns of its users and reiterated that it had a “passion” for making its platform inclusive, diverse and vibrant.

  • This guy totally nails Britney’s Toxic onboard a real jet

This airline worker has totally nailed Britney’s iconic Toxic routine on board a real life jet.

Assraf Nasir has pulled off the best version of Britney’s “Toxic” we’ve ever seen (although Craig Revel Horwood’s in Lip Sync Battle UK was pretty darn good). Assraf, however, has the extra added bonus of being a real-life worker for an airline.

    https://twitter.com/FarhanRzman/status/842405850673111040

As in Britney’s original chart-topper, 2003’s “Toxic”, Assraf dances down the aisles, sings into the intercom and pushes a food trolley down the Airbus 330’s cabin – all in perfect precision – mimicking Britney’s very own dance moves for the hit.

The 1-minute film starts with the airline worker singing into the aircraft’s intercom system. He perfectly manages to lipsync to the song’s words.

Then he perfectly dances the exact routine to the 2003 Britney hit.

Just as in the original video, a food trolley is used to run through the aeroplane’s main cabin. The video has already been retweeted over 4,000 times as Britney’s fanbase fall in love with the viral video.

    PCC Commissioner Cindy Butts said,

“Over the coming weeks our investigators will be undertaking interviews with the 17 officers who have been served with notices as part of the investigation. These interviews are an important milestone in the investigation as we continue to build the picture of the police response to the deaths. Misconduct notices are not judgemental in any way.

“We are grateful for the information provided to us by the family and friends of Anthony, Daniel, Gabriel, and Jack, as well as members the LGBT community and the wider public, and MPS officers. In an investigation of this magnitude, centred upon the tragic murders of four dearly missed young men, every piece of information counts and we continue to wish to hear from anyone who can assist this important work.

“My thoughts remain with everyone affected by Port’s horrific crimes, and they can be assured that we are committed to providing them with thorough conclusions as soon as we are able.”

Following the interview process, which will take a number of weeks, investigators will be in a position to complete the analysis of the evidence at hand and begin preparing the IPCC’s final report.

  • Meet the totally hot body positive guys on Instagram

So we’ve all been there – looking through Instagram’s hottest men and we enter the dreaded shame spiral.

In a world of superhero movies and perfectly washboard abs plastered on billboards and in magazines, men are suffering from body image issues almost as much as women these days. But amidst the endless #gympics, #thirstythursdays and #flexfridays, there are a few brave and bold body positive men showing social media how it’s done. Men can struggle with body image just as much as women can, and so we need body-positive role models for men now more than ever.

    Tituss Burgess

Titus Burgess is best known for his roles on 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and the cabaret star is using every ounce of flair and fame to give body positivity a fabulous new face. His Instagram is brimming with hilarious videos and celebrity selfies, not the least of which is this group shot with Tess Holliday herself.

    Matt Joseph Diaz

Matt Diaz became an important – and loud – voice for the body positivity movement when he posted a very vulnerable shirtless video of himself in 2015. In it Matt explained how he had lost 270 pounds over 6 years, leaving him with a significant amount of excess skin. Now with 22.5k followers on Instagram, Matt remains a prominent male voice for body positivity, claiming to be equal parts cheerfulness and “f^&k you haters”.

    Steve Martin

Steven Martin (Not to be confused with Steve Martin) is a male plus size model from Germany who is fond of taking selfies in the bathroom mirror.

Less of a gym-rat these days, Steven is carving out a nice modelling career in Germany, the UK and France, and doing his part to promote body positivity and body confidence for men as well as women.

    Chubstr

Founded by Bruce Sturgell, Chubstr is a website that is dedicated to plus size men who are looking for fashion that fits. Bruce also believes that fashion is a great way to introduce the ideas of body positivity to men, proclaiming that even those who don’t feel comfortable talking about body image issues can find support in the fashion community.

    Michael-Anthony Spearman

Michael-Anthony Spearman describes himself as a “Detroit gent”, and believes that fashion is a “safe” way for men to gain visibility and work on issues around body image. His blog The Big Fashion Guy looks to inspire gentlemen of all sizes, and his Instagram is chock full of photos of him just being incredibly stylish and owning it.

50 days on and Donald Trump’s White House still has no LGBT policy in place

Fifty-two days on and President Donald Trump’s administration still hasn’t put forward a coherent LGBT policy after removing the LGBT section on the official White House website.

Critics were dismayed when in January, the same day as Donald Trump’s inauguration the White House removed its LGBT policy page on the official White House website. The removal of key pages caused widespread concern about how America’s LGBT community would be treated by Donald Trump’s adminstration.

Fifty-two days on and the White House website still has no LGBT policy or information on its server. The administration has failed to put forward any coherent policies concerning the rights of LGBTs in the USA.

When users type in www.whitehouse.gov/lgbt they are greeted with a generic message thanking them for their “interest in this subject”. The page informs users to “stay tuned” as the website is updated.

The former site which was maintained during President Obama’s presidency outlined the administration’s position on equal rights, including ‘eliminating barriers to equality, fighting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and engaging LGBT communities across the country.”

The page also provided links to anti-bullying and sexual health resources.

The site is just in transition as Trump’s own team looks to update information and bring forth their own policies. As with each new administration, the official White House website, Twitter and other social media accounts are all archived for history.

So far the current administration has uploaded policies on energy, jobs and growth, making the military strong, standing up for law enforcement and trade deals.
