  • James Bond fans don’t want him to be gay

A poll of Bond fans has revealed that they really don’t want him to gay, but might be okay with him being a woman, non-British or BAME.

Fans want James Bond to remain British, male, straight and white according to a recent poll. The poll conducted by The Hollywood Reporter asked a series of questions about the world-famous spy’s sexuality, colour and gender, to find out how much change, if any, moviegoers could handle over casting a new Bond.

Over half of those asked (52%) said that they were opposed to Bond being gay. Only 15% strongly supported the idea of Bond being gay.

In fact more people were down with the idea of him being American (26 per cent) than gay.

Nearly half (48%) opposed the notion of Bond being female, while 29 per cent were opposed to him being black or mixed raced.

Up until this point all Bonds have been played by a white male, with most coming from England, Wales or Scotland. Only Pierce Brosnan (Irish) and George Lazenby (Austrailian) were born outside the UK.

  • LGBT Peoples We’d Like To See As The Next Bond

Much is being said about who is destined to be the next Bond and well here at THEGAYUK we’d like to see a bit of diversity…

So if Spectre is Daniel Craig’s last film in the Bond franchise and the job is up for grabs, we’ve got some suggestions from our very own community.

    1) Paris Lees

Although we can’t find her age (how you do this in this modern age of Wikipedia, Google and FB is a dark art – something that could come in handy for a Bond), so we’re guessing she’s mid to late 20s, Paris Lees might be a little too young to play Bond, but how magnificent would she be. Outspoken, witty, dresses to kill,  well connected and knows how to mix a good cocktail we’re told.

    2) Andrew Hayden-Smith, 32

Swave, British, easy on the eye and Northern – we’ve yet to have a Tyne And Wear bred Bond and we think it’s about time. He’d be the youngest Bond to play the part if he got it, but since Bonds need to last a decade we could definitely see Hayden-Smith maturing into the role nicely.

    3) Sue Perkins, 46

Sue Perkins’ got the smarts and the sense of humour. She exudes confidence, which is a must for any Bond.

Bond, Sue Bond – no wait doesn’t she already exist?

    4) Martyn Andrews, 36,

Former cover star for THEGAYUK, Martyn is an international man having travelled the world extensively. He’s multi-lingual and a genius when it comes to Russian politics having served at a journalist for RT for nearly 10 years. At over 6’3″ he’d be one of the tallest Bonds to date.

    5) Wentworth Miller, 43

The perfect age for a Bond – plus Wentworth Miller’s got that whole prison thing going for him.

Plus he looks amazing in a suit – so what more do you really need?

    6) Alan Cumming, 51

Scottish born Alan Cumming, showed his Machiavellian side in The Good Wife, we think Alan could definitely pull off a gay bond. At 51 he may be a little too old – as Bonds should ideally last about 10 years in the role – which means by his last film he’d be into his 60s. He wouldn’t be the first Scot to play Bond, rather famously Sean Connery embodied the role and is considered one of the best Bonds ever.

    7) Asifa Lahore

Can you imagine audience reactions to Britain’s most famous Muslim Drag Queen as Bond. It gives us shivers now, which is why we’re nominating her for the role. Asifa could be her own Bond girl as well – saving money on the budget.

How’s about a Welsh Bond? Physically fit, a man’s man and knows a thing or to about the important of blending in with your crowd. Although Bond often works alone you need a man who knows the importance of teamwork.

He’s got the looks and he’s the perfect age. EastEnders’ bad gay boy would be perfect for James Bond. Plus he looks divine all suited and booted. Aside from the perfect look, he’s got a heart of gold and he loves his mother – we’d like to see more of this fluffy side to bond.

    10) Seann Miley Moore, 26

Hey if we’re going to totally f*ck with the heteronormative brand of James Bond we might as well suggest Seann Miley Moore. The X Factor star moved from Sydney, Australia to London to make his dream come true, proving that he’s ready to move mountains to get the job done.

He wouldn’t be the first Aussie to take the part, George Lazenby played Bond in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

  • All Bets On For Tom Hardy To Take Over Bond Role

Could the role of Bond be up for grabs? All eyes to Tom Hardy to replace Daniel Craig.

Despite Daniel Craig saying that he had signed up for a number of future films as the legendary spy James Bond, there is speculation that he has signed for “several seasons” of a brand new US show. There is now suspicions that a new Bond could well be on the cards.

Leading the way for the favourite to replace Daniel is Tom Hardy, which bookmakers William Hill have given the odds of 5/2 that Tom is being lined up to replace Daniel.

William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said,

“There will be a number of very frantic phone calls from actors’ agents this morning with one of the hottest roles in cinema history potentially up for grabs.”

5/2 Tom Hardy; 3/1 Damian Lewis; 4/1 Aiden Turner; 4/1 Jack O’Connell; 9/2 Idris Elba; 11/2 Henry Cavill; 12/1 DFavid Oyelowo; 12/1 Sam Riley; 14/1 Michael Fasssbender; 16/1 Richard Armitage; 20/1 BAR.

  • Nick Ferrari – I Will Have A Sex Change If David Beckham Becomes Bond

Call Me Nicola – Nick Ferrari says he will have a sex change if David Beckham becomes the next James Bond.

As Daniel Craig comes to the end of his tenure as Bond, all eyes turn to the next possible actor who will play the iconic spy. Former footballer David Beckham has been suggested as Craig’s successor.

Nick Ferrari, 56, quipped, “Call me Nicola” in disgust at the suggestion.

Speaking about Beck’s potential as a Bond, LBC morning presenter Nick Ferrari said, he would have a sex change before Beckham became Bond. Of course Ferrari’s glib remark about a gender reassignment would cost the presenter thousands of pounds and he’d have to endure incredibly painful.

  • Interview with a real life Bond Stunt Man: Bobby Holland Hanton

Interview with a real life Bond Stunt Man: Bobby Holland Hanton

Ever wondered what it’d be like to body double for Daniel Craig or Ryan Reynolds?

We caught up with Hollywood stuntman Bobby Holland-Hanton on the set of the brand new Ford B-Max advert to find out about the man whose job it is to jump through hoops of fire, moving cars and all manner of dangerous, death defying tricks to make those silver screen legends look like the hard men we think they are…

    1. At what age did you decide you wanted to be a stuntman and jump off things?

I decided I wanted to become a stunt man at the age of around 20. I had performed in a lot of live action stunt shows in the UK as well as many commercials worldwide. I wanted to really test myself and take it to the next level. Go that one step further.

    2. Is diving through a suspended open car the scariest stunt you’ve ever done?

It is for sure up there with one of the biggest stunts I have done, but also very different in its own way as a lot of stunts are!! They are never quite the same….

    3.How many takes were required?

Due to a few different angles I think we roughly shot the stunt about 8 times

    4. I hope there were no accidents during filming?

No accidents at all, it did get quite close a few times because of the nature of the stunt, but I had an amazing safety team, rigging team and stunt co-ordinator in Tom Struthers who I have worked with many times before on Inception and The Dark Knight Rises to mention a couple. So I felt very safe and we spend a good amount of time rehearsing the stunt to eliminate as much danger as possible, and if you do this only fate can take over

    5. Have you ever sustained injuries from your work?

Yes I have due to the nature of what I do. Luckily nothing majorly serious, we are, as stunt men always going to get knocks here and there but with a good amount of rehearsal time, and a great team around, you work hard to prevent it.

Gratuitous swimwear shot… You’re very welcome..

    6. You obviously work out quite a lot to keep your physique, do you have any special diets?

I do have a pretty strict diet and eating programme at the moment in fact the most demanding I have ever had due to the job I am working on at the moment and shape the actor is in that I am a stunt double for…. Lots of protein, training twice a day, eating small amounts but every 2 hours… It’s hard, but a good challenge and I am very lucky and feel blessed to have been given this chance in life so I want to make the most of it.

    7. What advice would you give someone who’s a little bit well fed, in their mid 30s and contemplating a missed calling in life to jump through suspended cars and hoops of fire?

That’s a very difficult one to be honest as each and every person is very different in many ways. I have 24 years of training experience in all kinds of physical fields, but I would say try to better your food habits and start training 4 times a week i.e. running, boxing classes, swimming, gym training and you have to really want to get into some kind of shape. Give it 100% and you will see results thats for sure.

    8. Is there one person or character you would love to stunt double for?

Well I have already been so lucky stunt doubling for Batman, James Bond, also Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern, and Jake Gyllenhaal in the Prince Of Persia. David Beckham is a hero of mine but I have already doubled him which was just amazing. I would have to say probably Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling. I would love to double Superman also. I would love to work with Sean Penn and Daniel Day Lewis as for me they are the 2 best actors ever….
