  • Top 10 Gayest Animals On The Planet

Homosexuality has been found in 1,500 species of animals through behaviour observation research studies. There’s probably many more species if you consider that the number only account for the animals that have been studied. Here’s ten animals were gay liaisons or relationships exist:

    1. Lions

Male lions in Africa have been observed disregarding available lionesses in order to form their own same-sex prides. These same males have also been seen mounting one another and doing other actions commonly associated with male to female mating interactions.

    2. Cheetahs

When cheetahs bond together, they do for life. Cheetah partners spend about 93% of their time together and male same-sex partners are quite common.

The two bonded males will groom one another (usually a sign of partnered straight cheetahs), defend each other in fights and get anxiety if separated. Once reunited the male cheetahs will face-rub one another, mount one another (fully erect) and stutter (a sexual excitement vocalisation).

It is estimated that 27-40% of wild male cheetahs live with same-sex partners and that 16-19% of wild male cheetahs life in a same-sex trio.

    3. Elephants

Male elephants have been known to touch other males with their trunks (elephants see touch as essential for creating and maintaining a deep bond), kissing other males (inserting their trunk into the other elephant’s mouth) and even male on male sex (mounting). Relationships between two male elephants (usually one older and one younger) have been known to last for years.

    4. Emus

    CREDIT: ©-robynmac-Depositphotos

Emus travel together in pairs. Male emus have been seen making the same mating behaviours as female do to males. This includes: circling a passive male, patches of bare skin turning light blue (on both males), the passive male stretching his neck, erecting his feathers and swaying from side to side and the dominant male rubbing his breast against the other male’s rump.

    5. Flamingos

Flamingos are sociable animals, living together in large colonies. During mating season, they split off into smaller groups and perform synchronised displays. They choose their mate and stay together for the season. They generally have a new mate for every mating season.

The most famous same-sex flamingo couple is Carlos and Fernando. In 2007, when they had been together for five years, they adopted an abandoned chick. They fed it and raised it as their own. Homosexuality is said to be very common with flamingos.

    6. Penguins

Same-sex penguins have been seen performing mating calls to one another and intertwining their necks. There have been a few gay penguin couples in Zoos that have been given abandoned eggs to raise chicks. They have raised these chicks successfully.
Famous penguin couples include: Roy & Silo, Inca & Rayas and Buddy & Pedro. Each of these couples is a separate subspecies of penguin, meaning that several subspecies of penguin has documented gay penguins.

    7. Dolphins

Several subspecies of dolphin have gay or bisexual dolphins. One researcher discovered the incredible seventeen year gay relationship between two male dolphins. Researchers have also found pods of all male dolphins who share sexual and romantic experiences together. Dolphins are known to be highly flirtatious and sexualised.
Male dolphins have been known to engage in masturbation of other males. Same-sex dolphins engage in long foreplay, with the sexual act only lasting a short time. Male dolphins regardless of their sexuality tend to be aggressive and violent towards the other during sex.

    8. Foxes

    CREDIT ©-count_kert-Depositphotos

Foxes are nocturnal animals, which out of breeding season live alone. They often share territory where there is a dominant male. The dominant male will mount a same-sex subordinate doggy style.

During breeding season foxes generally live in a den, either as a mated straight couple or a male with several young females. I guess you could say foxes are more bisexual than gay

    9. Bats

    CREDIT: ©-borojoint-Depositphotos

Bats are said to have the highest percentage of gayness, above all other animals, including humans. Both male and female bats can be gay with their behaviours including: affection, sexual activity and bonding.
There are several subspecies of bats that are gay including Vampire Bats, Fruit Bats and Flying Fox Bats.<

    10. Cats

Tom cats (males) have been known to engage in same-sex interludes. As well as humping one another, they have been seen spooning when they sleep and grooming one another.

  • There’s a strange reason why this cat needs to be re-homed

This tabby, it seems, loves the company of men…

We feel that Gregorovitch is one of the boys because apparently, he has shown that he prefers the company of men, over women.

Leading cat welfare charity, Cats Protection is seeking a male-only home in the North-West for a choosy tabby who has shown a clear preference for men.

One-year-old puss Gregorovitch is currently being cared for by the charity’s Warrington Adoption Centre in Cheshire, where he will happily sit on the laps of the men at the centre, sometimes even hugging their legs when they try to leave.

“It’s very unusual for us to see a cat with such a distinct preference for either men or women,” explained centre manager, Sonia Scowcroft.

“Gregorovitch is a really sweet young cat and loves attention from our male staff and volunteers, but sadly he’s not so fond of the females so we think he’d be best suited to a male-only household where he can be a man’s best friend.

“He’s a lively cat and can become quite frustrated with his current lack of freedom, so we’d like to find him his ideal home as soon as possible, preferably with plenty of outdoor space where he can burn off some of his excess energy.

“Once he has access to the great outdoors, his more exuberant tendencies should calm down and we think he will make a loving and rewarding pet.”

Due to his quirky nature, Gregorovitch would best suit a home with an experienced cat-owner and no children.

Anyone interested in offering Gregorovitch a home can contact Cats Protection’s Warrington Adoption Centre on 03000 120612 or pop in and meet him. The centre is open every day 11am – 3pm, except for Tuesdays, with late opening on Thursdays until 7pm.

  • 23-year-old man left impotent after a scratch from his cat

    Paws for thought…

23-year-old man left impotent after a scratch from his cat

A twenty-three-year-old man has been left unable to get an erection, after being scratched by a cat.

The man, who lives in Belgium has been left impotent, at the age of 23, after a scratch by a cat left him with a potentially life-threatening disease. The man’s cat had given him “cat scratch disease” according to BMJ Case Reports.

Cat Scratch Disease (CSD) is caused by a bacteria called Bartonella henselae which can leave those infected with fevers, swollen lymph nodes and can even become fatal if there are complications reports the Sun.

The bacteria can be found on the claws and in the mouths of cats.

The victim went to his doctors after developing a pain in his testicles and unable to get an erection. On further investigation, it was revealed that he had been clawed by a cat in his home.

Doctors were able to save the patient’s erections, but only by taking swift action and putting him on a course of antibiotics. He was cured in three weeks.

Writing in the report, Doctor’s said, “The symptoms quickly vanished and he fully regained his erectile function.

“In this case, the patient was unable to provoke erection despite his will even during periods of calm symptoms.”

According to the Sun, around 12,000 Americans have been diagnosed with CSD. Victims suffer fever, fatigue, headaches and swollen lymph nodes. Of those diagnosed, 500 needed hospital treatment.

So think twice before letting your cat lick you or scratch you. You should also wash your hands or open wounds thoroughly.

  • Apparently we’re doing a lot of crazy shiz in our beds…

Apparently we’re doing a lot of crazy shiz in our beds…

A third of Brits lets their pet sleep in bed with them – and one in ten people smoke under the covers, a study has found.

A poll, of 15,000 adults, found that despite bed being a haven for most, some could be sharing the sheets with pet hair and old cigarette smoke.

The average Brit also tucks into snacks or food while in bed at least once a week.

But one in four admit they can go three weeks or more without washing their sheets.

And one in twenty have a mattress which is more than 15 years old.

Lisa Bond, Marketing Director at Britain’s leading bed specialist, Dreams, which commissioned the research, said,

“For many, our beds are the most comfortable place in the home, and the area we would like to spend most of our time.

“It’s important to be comfortable and have a supportive mattress which is why we recommend for the best night’s sleep, you replace it every eight years.”

“Many people replace their cars more often than their mattress, yet you spend a third of your life in bed. You can’t underestimate the benefit of a good night’s sleep.”

Researchers found just 43 per cent change their sheets at least once a week, while another 34 per cent do it once a fortnight.

One in ten even admitted to leaving it a month or more between changing the sheets while another one in twenty regularly go for two months without clean bedclothes.

The average pillows have also been on our beds for just over three years while duvets are an average of almost four years old.

Brits have even been using the same bed sheets for an average of more than five years.

Researchers also found the average adult will spend an hour and 30 minutes lying awake, on three nights each week – a total of four-and-a-half hours a week.

But women lose more sleep – struggling to get a full night of shut eye four times a week compared to a man’s three nights.

Being too hot is the most common reason for disturbed sleep, followed by stress, struggling to get comfortable and worrying about money.

A snoring partner, health issues and being nervous or excited about something happening the next day also leads to sleepless nights.

On top of that, 48 per cent of adults reckon they have at least one night a week where they wake up in some kind of pain or discomfort.

Top 20 reasons for having a disturbed night’s sleep:
    1. You’re too hot

Bobby was visibly distraught after recalling the time his dog, Beau, was mauled to death by another dog during a walk.

He told fellow show pals Chloe Sims, James Lock and Dani Armstrong how his pooch was destroyed by another, larger dog. Bobby described how the attacker dog used his dog as a “chewing” toy.

He also appeared on Loose Women to recall the attack and raise awareness.

Tragically his pet didn’t make the attack and died.

Viewers watching the description were also left distraught, with many taking to social media to share their feelings.

  • Your Dog Sparks Nearly 2000 Arguments In Its Life…

The average dog will cause nearly 2,000 arguments between its owners during its lifetime, a study has revealed.

A new study shows ‘man’s best friend’ can also be his worst enemy as it triggers up to three rows every single day.

That’s the equivalent of 156 quarrels every year – or 1,997 over the average pooch’s life expectancy of 12.8 years.

And the spats range from disagreeing about who should take the dog for a walk, feeding them too many treats and what to do with them when going away.

Nikki Sellers, Head of Pet Insurance at esure, said: “Owning a dog is not that dissimilar to having a baby.

“Round the clock care and responsibility throughout a dog’s life can become tiresome for any pet owner but should never be overlooked.

“Maintaining a dog’s physical health through exercise plus regular stimulation to avoid them running riot around the house should at least help avoid some arguments.

“A healthier dog may also lead to fewer costly trips to the vet too but for advice on how to look after a dog properly, owners should seek professional help.

“esure pet insurance customers can call its 24-hour ‘Health and Wellbeing’ line where veterinary professionals are available to offer advice and tips on all aspects of pets’ health.”

The poll suggests that a quarter of owners regularly argue about where the dog should be allowed to go in the house – in particular whether they should be able to go on the beds, upstairs or on the sofa.

A fifth of owners frequently argue about whose turn it is to clean up the mess in the back garden, while one in 10 disagree about who should clear up the carpets should they be soiled.

But disciplining the dog is one of the biggest causes of arguments – as 18 per cent of couples often fall out because one is accused of being too harsh on the dog.

A further 15 per cent of families often row about who should be training the dog, while one in 10 people get annoyed if the dog is ‘humanised’.

Other arguments about the pooch include who chose to buy it in the first place and how much has been spent on the dog.

They’re also likely to cause unrest if they damage the children’s toys or chew the family’s shoe collection.

The study shows that while the majority of family arguments are more likely to be about the children than the family pet, 14 per cent of owners reckon they row about the dog MORE than their children.

Incredibly, in 17 per cent of households the dog disputes have got so bad that one member of the family has slept in the spare room, while a quarter of those polled have been known to storm off after things got too heated.

In fact, 26 per cent of dog owners have at some point considered getting rid of their beloved pooch after a particularly bad barney.

  • RECIPE: Dog Treats, Sunshine Snacks

    Sunshine Snacks

    High Protein / Grain Free

Sometimes I wonder if my miniature schnauzer eats better than I do. Anybody with a “baby” understands wanting the best for them, and for most of us means that health ranks top of the priorities list for our pets.

If you have never treated your pup to something home-made, by you, then this is a really easy to follow, and easy to execute recipe. I use coconut flour to achieve a gluten-free / grain free status for the recipe. Many dogs are sensitive to grains. Coconut flour is also high in protein and dietary fibre.

I would suggest you give Bulk Powders  a visit for natural and competitively priced; coconut flour, sunflower seeds, and natural peanut butter, all required for this recipe.

We all know the benefits of having sweet potato and carrots in our diet, and those facts translate into a dogs diet too. Anti-oxidant, beta carotene, and vitamin rich all support natural good health- and also contain fibre, keeping the digestive tract in check.

Peanut butter– you want as natural as possible- always unsalted, and raw if available. A great source of protein, healthy fats for the heart, and more fibre to support the digestive system.

Sunflower seeds – High vitamin E content will help promote a lovely shiny coat and support the skin. Also a good source of B group vitamins and selenium, which can help promote and balance mood. Always unsalted and always shelled.

Turmeric, freshly ground black pepper and coconut oil– These ingredients require each other in order to be absorbed most efficiently by your dog’s system. The coconut oil and black pepper increase their bodies absorption of turmeric.

Turmeric makes a wonderful anti-inflammatory so if your pooch suffers from arthritis it may well be worth investigating how to incorporate this bright spice into your dog’s diet. Turmeric has also been linked to reducing blood clots, soothing symptoms of IBS, and cancer prevention.

Makes around 30 bone shaped biscuits.

Recommended serving: 1-2 sunshine snacks a day dependant on dog size.

    Ingredients

    170g coconut flour

200g (about 2 small) sweet potato, peeled and chopped

195g peanut butter, natural or raw- no salts or added sugars!

    50g shelled sunflower seeds

    20g carrot, grated

    4 eggs

1 tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil

    1 tsp turmeric powder

Freshly cracked black pepper, a couple of twists

    Preheat your oven to 180c / 160c (Fan) / Gas Mark 4

    Instructions

    1. Get a saucepan of boiling water on the go and cook your sweet potato until soft.
    2. Mash together the sweet potato and the coconut oil and set aside to cool.
    3. Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, combine; coconut flour, sunflower seeds, turmeric and black pepper- mix well.
    4. Now add the carrot, peanut butter, eggs, and sweet potato & coconut oil.
    5. Mix thoroughly combining all the ingredients entirely.
    6. Lightly dust your work surface with a small amount of coconut flour.
    7. Use your hands to mould the dough into a ball and transfer to your floured work surface.
    8. The trick when rolling out is to do so very gently and slowly. I rolled mine out so the biscuits had about 2-inch thickness.
    9. Using a cookie cutter or alternatively mould with your hands to desired size / shapes.
    10. Line some greaseproof paper on a baking sheet and place the biscuits on top.
    • Bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes.
    1. Remove from the oven and leave to cool before getting your number one fan / taste tester to try. Of course, all ingredients are human grade so go ahead and try one for yourself.
