What is a side? Guys who just who aren’t into bottoming or topping?

Not into topping. Not into bottoming

What does side mean with gay men
    (C) BIGSTOCK

There’s a relatively new term for guys who don’t like having anal sex. Yep, guys who aren’t into topping or bottoming. Some are identifying themselves as “sides”.

Although the term itself is not getting the love it might deserve. As the LGBT+ community expands and adds more identities shouldn’t Sides be getting the recognition they warrant?

There’s a lot of emphases on anal sex in the gay, bi and curious community. Editor of THEGAYUK.com, Jake Hook says, “We are in a world where we’re expected to make instant proclamations on what we’re into. There’s a lot of pressure to define yourself as one or the other and the assumption that sex has to end up with penetration. Where does that assumption come from?

“First on the list is gay porn. All scenes tend to end up in anal sex. It’s become the standard.

“Secondly, the apps we used often ask us to pigeonhole ourselves into tribes including whether we’re tops, bottoms or vers.

“Thirdly, penetration is the world’s goto sex act – and it’s pretty heteronormative. In media we constantly see people going at it. One moment they are kissing the next he’s whipping off his trousers and she’s hitching her skirt. Straight to the penetration, without too much discussion about the other types of sex you can have.”

So who or what is a side?

    (C) BIGSTOCK

It’s a guy who’s not into anal sex of any type instead he’ll be into kissing, hugging, oral and other types of sexual activity. Also, guys who cannot have anal sex might be considered a side. For instance, those who have had prostate surgery may not be able to have penetrative sex. It doesn’t mean that sex stops. It changes as prostate cancer campaigner Martin Wells told us.

So what are the other types of sex you can have without penetration?

There’s a whole world of sex that doesn’t end up with P in A action. Mutual masturbation, cock2cock frot, frottage, scissoring, oral, rimming, digital penetration, tantric, toy play, role play. Take your pick. All of those can end up with one or both of you climaxing, without the need to put a dick in an ass.

Where does the term “side” come from?

It appears that the term “side” was coined by Joe Kort Ph D in an article written for Huffington Post. Unfortunately, the author doesn’t explain the reason behind the word.

Defining Sideism he said, “Sides prefer to kiss, hug and engage in oral sex, rimming, mutual masturbation and rubbing up and down on each other, to name just a few of the sexual activities they enjoy. These men enjoy practically every sexual practice aside from anal penetration of any kind. They may have tried it, and even performed it for some time before they became aware that for them, it was simply not erotic and wasn’t getting any more so”.

Bright lights, the smell of the greasepaint, the likes on Instagram

The team behind the brand new musical Club Mex is holding open auditions, on Instagram.

Club Mex is being described as “a part-immersive, part-musical clubbing experience, will get its world premiere at the Hope Mill Theatre, in Manchester in early 2019.

The show centres around Mel and her two best mates as they experience the highs, lows and hangovers of Cancun in a heart-warming coming-of-age comedy.

It is directed by West End star Julie Atherton who has been working on the development of the show with Perfect Pitch Musicals over the last couple of years. “When the guys at Perfect Pitch first approached me to get involved I knew it was an idea I wanted to play with and explore how involved the audience could be. After a workshop last year at Edge Hill university we soon realised audiences are very happy to be in the heart of where the action takes place and this piece allows them to do just that.”

Applications will be via Instagram, with further details on Club Mex’s website: www.theclubmex.com.

Recalls will be offered in London on 8 October and Manchester on 12 October. ”We are looking for people with funny bones and strong vocal ability, however there is no requirement for formal training. We want to hear from you if you love singing and making people laugh!”

  • Boy Erased star Lucas Hedges comes out as “not totally straight”

“I recognize myself as existing on that spectrum”

Welcome to the club hunny! Lucas Hedges has confirmed in a recent interview that he doesn’t identify as totally straight. But not Bisexual or Gay. Somewhere on the spectrum.

The Boy Erased and Manchester By The Sea star was speaking in a Vulture interview when he sort of “came out” after revealing he had a crush on a boy at camp.

    He confided in his mother,

“I felt terrible about it. I remember her being very comforting, and she understood that something was distressing me, and she said, ‘You don’t have to go back to camp today.’ [Pause] I’m sorry, I can’t help but feel a little self-conscious, only because I’m talking to you and the world at the same time.”

    He continues,

“I owe it to this part to speak as honestly as possible. In the early stages of my life, some of the people I was most infatuated with were my closest male friends. That was the case through high school, and I think I was always aware that while for the most part I was attracted to women, I existed on a spectrum.”

Lucas recalls learning about that spectrum from a health teacher in sixth grade — and was at first concerned he didn’t feel like he fit all the way into the nice box of “straight”:

“I felt ashamed that I wasn’t 100 percent, because it was clear that one side of sexuality presents issues, and the other doesn’t as much.”

    Finally, he explains,

“I recognise myself as existing on that spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”

Katie Hopkins signs IVA to avoid bankruptcy after lawsuit with Jack Monroe

Katie Hopkins has had to enter into an Insolvency Agreement to avoid bankruptcy after losing her libel case with food writer Jack Monroe.

Monroe took to Twitter yesterday to say, “I can confirm today that following that landmark libel case, Katie Hopkins has entered into an IVA to avoid bankruptcy. I knew for a while but could not say anything for legal reasons. The arbitrary defender of free speech didn’t want anyone to know, ironically…”

Back in May, Hopkins was ordered to pay Monroe £24,000 in damages and legal costs after a court found that comments made about Monroe were libellous.

An Insolvency Agreement is an agreement which means that the applicant will repay their creditors but over a longer time frame.

According to government data, Hopkins entered into the IVA in May.

Monroe stated in another tweet, “I have been paid in full, but many of her creditors, including my lawyer, will not be paid what they are owed. For the want of an apology, a house, a job, a column, a radio show, and now financial solvency, were lost. It’s all very sad, actually”.

Katie Hopkins has not addressed the matter publicly.

This gay porn studio used a pop song for its promo

A new way of getting new music to the masses or just music to chill to?

RealityDudes have released their latest scene, (starring muscular hunk Dustin Steele and buff babe Julian Knowles) except, slightly unusual we think, as the website, WeLoveGayPorn.com (NSFW) has pointed out they’ve used an actual song as the sound bed for the scene.

Now, there was a time when most porns had a cheesy euro dance track behind the action, but lately, most studios just go with the sweet sweet sounds of the plunge and an occasion “ah yeahhh… f**k yeahhh etc etc”.

So naturally, we were inquisitive as to the song and the singer, if you’re wondering it’s an Andy Powell track called, “Pretty Little Lies” featuring Linda Roan. It was released in 2017. Stream it here

What do you think? A good addition to the action or a slightly creepy distraction?

Instagram removes body positive pictures of gay men

Meat magazine has found itself falling foul of Instagram‘s “puritanical censorship” rules on nudity, despite not showing any genitals or exposed buttocks. The magazine, which also prints a calendar has not one but two of its accounts removed by the picture sharing site.

Meat‘s first Instagram account had amassed over 15,000 fans when it was erased by the Facebook-owned company and the second account had 4000 fans.

Speaking to THEGAYUK.com the magazine’s owner, Adrian said, “Meat‘s mission is to champion body positivity amongst gay men, in a community where many often feel sidelined by ‘stereotypical’ male beauty standards. The zine allows our followers and fans to celebrate and own their unique beauty, no matter their age, race, body shape or type.”

Instagram has proved an essential part of promoting Meat‘s body-positive message to gay, bi and curious men across the globe. Adrian added, “Instagram doesn’t just help to promote the magazine, it allows our fans a space to see themselves as others see them, and to share and spread Meat‘s message of body positivity for all”.

The pictures shared by Meat on its last account showed men, who though undressed, were not naked – due to the huge modesty circle on top of the genital area.

The pictures that apparently failed Instagram’s nudity test.

However, in stark contrast Kim Kardashian has posted several fully nude pictures of herself – obtaining millions of likes and the platform has taken no action against the account.

The magazine has now created a new account and added even more heavily edited pictures so as to not fall foul of Instagram’s nudity rules.

  • Can you catch syphilis from oral?

Can you catch syphilis from oral?

Syphilis can be spread through all manner of sexual encounters and oral sex is one of them.

Startling statistics from 2016 show that gay and bisexual men make up 90 percent of new syphilis infections in London and that London’s rate is three times higher than the rest of England – so syphilis is clearly a very infectious disease.

Syphilis can be spread by vaginal, oral and anal sex or genital contact with an infected person. Most cases of syphilis are treatable with antibiotics and it is preventable through safer sex practices which include using condoms, regularly being tested and avoiding overlapping sexual relationships.

Speaking to THEGAYUK.com Doctor Rick Viney said, “It’s very easy to contract syphilis in this way (through oral) It will present with an obvious ulcer on a mucosal surface in the mouth but will be painless”.

How do you know that you have syphilis?

There are no specific symptoms for syphilis. There will be the presence of one or more painless but highly infectious sores (primary infection) which appear at the site of infection. These sores disappear within two to six weeks in the absence of treatment.

Secondary symptoms may develop six weeks to six months after the initial sores. Later symptoms are highly variable, but may include a rash on the palms or soles.

Late syphilis occurs four or more years after an untreated primary infection. Complications may occur in the mucocutaneous tissue, heart, respiratory tract or central nervous system.

    How is syphilis diagnosed?

Syphilis can be diagnosed via a simple blood test, which can be provided at a sexual health clinic.

How can you protect against syphilis?

Syphilis is preventable with the use of condoms when having sex – vaginal, anal and oral. You can use dental dams for oral sex. Regular sexual health screening will also help combat the spread.

  • Man sentenced for biting off the ear of a man he accused of looking at his genitals

Man sentenced for biting off the ear of a man he accused of looking at his genitals

A man has been handed a suspended sentence, and avoiding jail time, after pleading guilty to a brutal attack on a man he accused of looking at his penis.

Martin Gallagher, 28, pleaded guilty to a vicious assault on a man – punching him and biting off part of his ear. Gallagher accused the 20-year-old victim, who has left with a disfiguring scar on his ear, of looking at his genitals in the toilets of a nightclub in Newcastle.

He had been drinking in the bar with friends in May last year when he became involved in an argument with a 20-year-old man in the toilets.

Gallagher had accused his victim of looking at his genitals as he was urinating before following him back into the club and challenging to a fight.

He then proceeded to attack the victim who desperately tried to explain to him that he hadn’t been looking at him.

The victim fought back to protect himself but in the scuffle that followed Gallagher sunk his teeth into his victim’s ear, ripping part of it clean off.

Security staff at Digital nightclub threw out both men.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injured ear while Gallagher was arrested for his part in the brawl. He was later charged by police and pleaded guilty to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm at Newcastle Crown Court earlier this year.

Detective Constable Lisa Common, of Northumbria Police’s Central CID, said the victim in the case was left permanently disfigured by the attack. Following the case, she said, “This was an unprovoked attack on a complete stranger who had gone out that night to socialise with friends.

“Instead, he was confronted by a drunken male who was so out of control he bit the victim’s ear off.

“The victim has been left suffering not just permanent physical injury, but emotional trauma as a result of the incident.

“I hope he can take some comfort in the sentence that has been given today.”

The victim in the case says he is now trying to rebuild his life and made a point of thanking DC Common for her support. He said, “The last year and a half have been some of the most testing and strenuous times in my life. At times I have been left demobilised by the sheer stress of it all.

“I never could comprehend how one vicious incident could lead to so much pain for so many people until now.

“I’m still coming to terms with my new reflection and hope for a future to bring better days.

“That is largely thanks to the tireless work of Northumbria Police, especially from DC Lisa Common who has been nothing but an exemplary figure throughout the proceedings.

“She has my gratitude for being a strength when I was at my weakest.

“Her hours of work are thoroughly appreciated and I hope she continues to be a pivotal keystone in the community.”

Gallagher was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday, September 6.

He was handed a three-month curfew, ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also made to pay a £140 victim surcharge and £5,000 in compensation to the victim.
