  • Figure Skater Adam Rippon shares tragic details of his eating disorder

Adam Rippon shares horrifying details of his extreme dieting.

    CREDIT: ADAM RIPPON INSTAGRAM

Body image and figure skating can be a dangerous combo as Adam Rippon has shared. Speaking to the New York Times, Adam gave details on how he kept so slim – and apparently, his story is not isolated as many athletics feel the pressure to stay thin.

Karen Crouse, the author of the of the NYT piece, wrote how the skater, in 2016, endured a daily diet of just three slices of whole wheat toasted bread, topped with just I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and three cups of coffee, which he sweetened with Splenda.

The out Olympian said that it makes him feel “dizzy” thinking about the diet, revealing, “I looked around and saw my competitors, they’re all doing these quads, and at the same time they’re a head shorter than me, they’re 10 years younger than me and they’re the size of one of my legs.”

According to Adam, when he was 10, he said that his coach told his mother that he would never be able to execute advanced jumps due to his “heavy bottom”.

Fortunately, his mother, herself a former dancer,  recognised her son’s relationship with food and sat him down to talk about sensible eating.

He now weighs a healthier 10 pounds heavier than he did in 2016.

  • Mr Gay Belgium attacked and hospitalised in horrific homophobic attack

Attacked from behind, brutalised and hospitalised for being gay

Mr Gay Belgium, Jamie Deblieck, was attacked in a brutal homophobic attack in his hometown in Belgium. His attackers called him a “f**king homo” before stomping on him, leaving him with injuries that needed medical attention.

Jaimie, who is also autistic, posted a message on his Facebook profile, which translated to, “Attacking me from behind and stamping is one thing. Calling me “f**king gay” after that, you’re gonna regret it. I’m not leaving it here, you coward.”

Jaimie is currently fronting a campaign to bring awareness to Autism, in a campaign called Autism | Understand, Don’t Judge.’

    Attacked from behind

According to the advocate, he was attacked from behind but was able to view who attacked him and report his attacker to the authorities – saying that the public prosecutor would be on the case to bring the alleged attacker to justice.

Posting again, Jaimie thanked his friends and followers for their well wishes and support saying,

“Your support is what is going to pull me through these difficult days, and for that I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“A complaint has been filed against the [perpetrator] and the public prosecutor’s office will get to the bottom of this case.

“I also want to tell you why I chose to stand in front of the media. A lot of people in our country, like me, have had to deal with physical aggression because of their orientation and have not yet dared to come out of it. That’s why I decided to spread my statement through the media landscape. Events like this should be reported. There are a lot of bodies such as the unia, police, holebiverenigingen to itself an app (Uni-form) where you can report such cases. I tried to share this message today at my best”.

    Together We’ll get there!

He finished with a more positive message saying,

“Hating me, threatening, beating up.. Nothing’s gonna stop me from doing my job as mister and defending our community. Together We’ll get there!”

  • “Spot A Gay” newspaper article sparks outrage

‘Goes to the gym’, ‘Sports a beard’ and lesbians “hate men” but enjoy hugs.

WTF. A Malaysian newspaper has reached a low point in journalism after publishing a stereotype-laden list to help its readers determine whether somebody is gay or lesbian.

The tabloid Sinar Harian used tired stereotypes to pigeon-hole what gay men might look like or which hobbies they might enjoy, including wearing tight clothing to show off their physiques and suggesting that gay men might sport a beard.

Apparently, according to the list, our eyes also “widen” when we see handsome men.

Lesbians, according to the list, “hate men” but enjoy hugs.

    Backlash concerns

The list has sparked concerns by LGBT+ advocates because same-sex relationships are illegal in the Muslim-majority country. The anti-sodomy law is a hangover from colonial-era laws.

Punishment for those found guilty include caning or a fine and up to 20 years in prison.

The paper ran the checklist alongside an interview with the preacher Hanafiah Malik. The interview warned that homosexuality was “on the rise” and that it needed “to be stopped”.

Advocates in the country are concerned that the article and the list could spark a backlash against the LGBT+ community.

    The 74

Malaysia is just one of the 74 countries in the world, where it is illegal to be gay or where sodomy is illegal.

  • Star Trek legit put a guy in a jock strap in the latest episode

Finally, Star Trek has changed the rules and it’s not just the women who are sexualised.

The latest series of Star Trek, available on Netflix, has broken the mold of just sexualising women in its scenes. For years only women were put into barely-there clothing or in positions to titillate the often-male Captains and the straight male viewer, but in a groundbreaking move, going boldly where no other Star Trek season has gone before, Discovery put a man in a jockstrap in a sex scene along with two other women.

It’s fair to say this series has broken many barriers. We had the first gay kiss and focus on a same-sex relationship, the first series which focussed on the story of a woman of colour (who had a typically male name) and, let’s face it, kick-ass graphics.

  • Is Dan Wootton gay?

    Is Dan Wootton gay?

He’s the gossip that everyone’s talking about, but Dan Wootton gay?

    is Dan Wootton gay
    © ITV Photographer: Tony Ward

He’s a well-known figure in the gossip world – probably second only to Perez Hilton in terms of solo media gossip brands – and he works for one of Britain’s biggest newspapers, the Sun, but what else do we know about the star?

    Is Dan Wootton gay?

Yes, folks, Dan Wootton is in fact gay.

The 33-year-old journalist took to Twitter in December 2013 to announce that he was gay and pro-equality. He said, “I’m gay and I believe in equality in every way. If the media hides gay relationships then how will they ever be normalised?”. He’s one of mainstream journalism’s most prominent openly gay editors and reporters. He has attracted a fair bit of criticism from the LGBT community because of the way that he has tackled certain subjects.

Last year, he attracted criticism over the way his story about Charlie Sheen’s HIV status was portrayed and he also attracted criticism after labelling George Shelley as “bisexual” after the singer was clear that he didn’t want to label himself.

Is Dan Wootton married or have a boyfriend?

As far as we know, Dan Wootton is not married and he’s not publicly disclosed if he has a boyfriend. We did put out a request, but he’s not answered yet!

    Where is Dan Wootton from?

Have you detected an accent from Dan Wootton? That soft lilt in his voice is a New Zealand accent, not Austrailian as some people mistake. He was born in Lower Hutt, which is a city in the Wellington Region of the Northern Island. He moved to the UK when he was 21.

    What was Dan’s first job?

Studying at Victoria Univerity he achieved a media and political science degree. He started his journalism career as an entertainment columnist for the Dominion Post. He was also a reporter for the daily TV show, Good Morning. He moved to the UK when he was 21 and eventually found a full-time job at Broadcast magazine. In 2007, when he was 24, he came the TV editor for News of the World before joining the Sun in 2013.

    Does Dan Wootton have enemies?

Being a reporter and keeping famous friends is a difficult task and quite a few have publicly dissed Dan over the years. In 2012, former X Factor winner Steve Brookstein took to Twitter to say, “‘All those people with HIV and not one of them is called Dan Wootton.”

Lilly Allen threw some shade when she Tweeted, “@danwootton *rolls eyes and wonders if you ever think about why you hate young girls so much* one for your shrink perhaps?”

Dan also faced a huge backlash after his report on Charlie Sheen’s HIV as “Hollywood HIV panic” was seen as an “insidious piece of stigma-reinforcing ‘journalism’” by Tom Hayes writing for the Independent in November 2015. Dan Wootton clarified that the startling headline of the piece was not his work.

  • Katie Hopkins just used Peter Rabbit to mock non-binary and trans people

Right-wing controversialist demands an apology from Sony Pictures saying that Peter Rabbit doesn’t identify as male.

With the non-binary and trans community squarely in her sights, Katie Hopkins seemingly mocked how some in the trans and non-binary community wish to identify themselves.

In a tweet, we can only imagine she thought was amusing, she demanded an apology from Sony Pictures, as “Peter does not identify as male. Or a bunny”

She then used a gender-neutral pronoun, “Zir”, to say that the rabbit actually prefers to identify as “Barbara the Rodent”.

The Tweet was met with a mix of reactions, with some writing that the former radio presenter, former TV host and former columnist for The Sun and MailOnline, wasn’t funny and just tweeting for the sake of being provactive.

One user questioned the rise of a “transphobic smear campaign” by the right.

The tweet comes after the new Peter Rabbit film included a scene where a character who suffers a blackberry allergy is pelted with them by a gang of bunnies.

The film’s makers apologised for the scene saying that they “should not have made light” of the issue.

  • Footballer “accidentally” flashes the entire world

    Free Willy…

You know what it’s like. Freezing cold, there’s a drizzle in the air, you’re wearing thin white short shorts and the world is watching.

What do you do? Yep, accidentally pull your shorts down exposing your Johnson to the world. Behind your manager of all people.

An unidentified Huddersfield substitute player managed to exposed his manhood to the millions of fans watching around the world – and all of this happened behind the back of the club’s manager, David Wagner.

The flash happened only for a split second, but eagle-eyed fans have been trying to identify the player, who seems to have a tattoo on his right thigh – and it seems as though he’s quite a sizeable player too if you get our drift.

No, Noel is not married but is in a long-term relationship with his Radio X DJ girlfriend Lliana Bird, sometimes referred to simply as “Bird”. They both live together in North London. They have been together since 2010.

    Is Noel Fielding Gay?

Nope, he doesn’t identify as gay, but he has said in the past that he thinks that gay people are all like “Superman”. He told the Guardian, “You have to be quite strong to be gay – or to be different in any way. You build special muscles.” Apparently, according to the Daily Star, Noel said he had “romped” with men, before “deciding he wasn’t gay”.

He also hasn’t dismissed the idea of having a bromance with Paul Hollywood, saying, “He is so generous, helpful, never tells you what to do but if you want advice he will really help you”.

What is Noel Fielding most famous for?

Noel became a household name for his stint in the Mighty Boosh, a cult comedy series which ran from 1998 to 2009 on BBC 3. He played the childlike eccentric role of Vince Noir. He’s also appeared in many other TV shows such as the It Crowd, QI and he was the team captain in Never Mind The Buzzcocks until it was cancelled in 2015.

    Does Noel cook?

Noel revealed that he doesn’t cook, he said,

“I don’t cook as much. Paul is quite determined to teach me how to make a Sourdough loaf, which he says is going to change my life! And how to drive a car! I can’t drive. He keeps saying for me to come over to make pizzas too.”

  • Over half of gay and bi men cheat on their partners, research finds

New research has found that the majority of gay and bi men cheat on their partners.

A survey of gay and bisexual men has found that 52 percent had cheated on their boyfriends and nearly 60 percent said they had been cheated on by their partners.

Despite over half of partners cheating on their lovers, only 45 percent of these men said that their partners had found out about their unfaithfulness.

The research, conducted by FS Magazine asked 961 gay and bisexual men about the times they had cheated and been cheated upon.

    Here’s what they found out:

    • 58% of respondents said a partner has been unfaithful
    • 52% said they had been unfaithful
    • 45% of these men said that their partner never found out
    • 17% said that they’d got an STI from being unfaithful
    • 61% of these men did not inform their partner
    • 40% of people in an open relationship said that either they or their partner has broken the rules of that relationship.

Ian Howley, Chief Executive of HERO – the Health Equality and Rights Organisation, notes that communication is a fundamental issue in the relationships of gay men, “What’s clear to us from the results of the survey and what gay men told us about their experiences is that some gay men are making the same mistakes regarding communication, trust and boundaries.

“There’s huge issue of gay men not being able to talk to one another about what they want sexually. We grow up in a very heterosexual society where ‘cheating’ is enough to end relationships and long-standing marriages because that’s what society has told us to do. And it’s not shocking to find that these standards are also put on gay men.”

Ian adds: “I’ve met lots of gay couples who are perfect for each, emotionally, but sexually they didn’t work, or it just fizzled out but rather than work together on this, one or both of them cheats on their partner leading to the eventual breakdown of their relationship.

“Now ‘cheating’ may start with flirting with a stranger or sliding into someone’s DMs on Twitter, but it only takes a few conversation exchanges before thoughts are put into action and then you have an issue that might bring the end to your relationship.

“Of course sex is important for any relationship to work but you cannot and never will be able to meet the needs of someone 100% of the time. And we are foolish to put that pressure on ourselves.

“If you are lucky to find someone that does it for you, is there for you emotionally, physically and treats you with the respect you deserve, then you must work on the relationship. Letting a relationship die because of sex is silly. More often he will work with you and you can work together to explore options that will keep your relationship tight.”

HERO are also recommending that gay men in relationships get tested for STIs and HIV regularly. Ian said, “17% of the gay men who admitted to cheating on their partner got an STI or HIV. We recommend that all sexually active gay men, whether in a relationship or not, gets tested for HIV and STI at least twice a year.”

The new issue of FS magazine is now available to download on iOS and via Pocketmags.
