The horrific murders of 5 gay men in London in 1993 rocked the homosexual community as Colin Ireland fulfilled a sick New Year’s resolution.
The documentary on Channel 5 which can be re-watched via the Channel 5 website (http://www.channel5.com/shows/born-to-kill/episodes/the-gay-slayer) followed the story of how the police eventually found the serial killer, the press dubbed The Gay Slayer.
The documentary contained footage of Ireland’s police confession, in which Ireland talked graphically about how he systematically visited The Coleherne Pub in Earls Court, no longer in existence, to pick up, accompanied his victims to their homes, restrain them up and ultimately kill them.
Ireland died this year of ‘natural causes’ in prison aged 57. He was serving five counts of life imprisonment.
