There’s going to be a reboot of Queer As Folk and we’re ALL IN
Apparently, there’s going to be a reboot of one the most iconic gay shows in history and the creator Russell T. Davies is on board.

CREDIT: Channel 4 Queer As Folk shocked and pleasured in equal measure in the late 90s and it seems as though TV company Bravo is looking to reboot the show. The creator Russell T. Davies is said to be serving as an exec producer for the show while Canadian screenwriter and director Stephen Dunn will be writing new episodes.
It’s unclear at this time whether the original cast will be involved however Variety is suggesting that the show will focus on new characters and in a different setting.
In the early noughties, there was an American / Canadian version of the show, which saw a staggering 83 episodes produced. It was applauded for tackling a variety of hard-hitting issues facing the LGBT+ community and developed the original characters further.
As Variety notes, “The original Queer as Folk ran for 10 episodes between 1999 and 2000 in the UK. It starred Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam, and Craig Kelly as three gay men living in Manchester. A North American remake was then launched in 2000 on the Canadian cable channel Showcase and the American channel Showtime. That series, set in Pittsburgh, ran for five seasons and starred Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, and Scott Lowell”.
A new live show for 2019
The first cast member for the original UK version of QAF has been announced for the 20th-anniversary celebration of the show’s first airing.
Actor Craig Kelly has been announced as the first Queer as Folk cast member joining the glittering line up for the show’s 20th birthday live music extravaganza.
Kelly, who played loyal, loveable supermarket manager Vince Tyler in the hit series, will take centre stage at the 2019 anniversary event but is staying tight-lipped about exactly what his role entails.
Craig said, “I’m delighted to be part of the Queer as Folk live event, I can’t believe it has been 20 years since Vince strutted down Canal street. I’m looking forward to sharing in the music, magical moments and surprises of what promises to be the ultimate birthday party befitting Vince, Stuart, Nathan and ‘mum’ Hazel, as she was always in on the act!”

There’s going to be a Queer As Folk 20th Anniversary show
Can you believe it’s been 20 years since Queer As Folk first hit the small screen in the UK?

Show producer, Rob Ellis, whose critically acclaimed comedy stage play “Fetish Knights,” enjoyed sell-out runs in two consecutive years at The Lowry, Salford said, “Having Craig join us really is the icing on the birthday cake. Vince’s silky, Mancunian drawl narrating the gore and the glory of gay Millenia is as iconic as the music in the soundtrack.

“As far as I’m concerned, Vince Tyler is Queer as Folk and Craig Kelly’s beautiful portrayal made him the bench mark for best friends all over the world. It’s inconceivable to me that we’d celebrate the 20th anniversary of Queer as Folk without Craig Kelly. Now we, and fans alike don’t have to!”
The show celebrates the greatest anthems from Queer as Folk and will see performances from guest artists’ including Strictly Come Dancing & STEPS star Faye Tozer and instrumental support from Manchester Camerata’s 28-piece orchestra.
Queer as Folk, written by Russell T Davies, was set around Manchester’s Gay Village. It received international acclaim at the time and a cult status around its epic soundtrack, which included smash hits such as “I Am What I Am,” “Haven’t You Heard,” “Love Pains” and “Santa Maria” which filled dancefloors around the world.
Carl Darcy, director of CDC Events and co-executive producer added: “We are absolutely thrilled that Craig is going to be part of the show. The character of Vince Tyler was the friend every gay man wanted, and it’s great that Craig has agreed to join us for this very special night.
“It’s going to be a fantastic and unmissable event and what better way to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of Queer as Folk than with the people who starred in it and a live spectacular of the drama’s greatest music anthems.”
Tickets for QUEER AS FOLK 20: STILL DOIN IT LIVE! are currently on sale and the show performance will be on Friday 22nd February 2019, at the Albert Hall, Manchester.

Where are the cast of Queer As Folk UK now?
It’s fair to say that Queer As Folk was a game changer for British television. It broke boundaries and totally f**ked with the heads of the readerships of several right-wing newspapers, but 18 years on, where are the cast now?
The show, which followed the lives of three gay men in Manchester, became a classic in the LGBT hall of fame. Those of us, old enough to remember, can recall how the show courted acclaim and controversy in equal measure – but unlike the US version the UK’s QAF was gone as quickly as it arrived after 10 episodes over two series, QAF was put to bed never to return to British screens again.
So in the 20 years since the show’s end, what’s happened to the cast?
Charlie Hunnam

Since the heady days of “I’m doing it, I’m really doing” Charlie has cemented himself a career in Hollywood starring in major blockbusters like Pacific Rim, The Lost City of Z and the newly-released King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Apparently, he even turned down the starring role, eventually filled by Jamie Dornan, in the mega-hit, Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Top 10 albums which are total sex albums
It’s the age old move to set the mood set for a bit of hot love making. The smooth movers amongst us, will already have a playlist on standby as soon as the bottle top has been popped and the lights have been set for the evening’s entertainment. Here are our TOP 10 albums to SEX to.

10. One of the sexiest albums around has to be JANET JACKSON’S VELVET ROPE:
Queen of sexy music takes us through a bump and grind of an album and at times it almost feels as though she’s in the room with you… Key tracks: ROPE BURN / TOGETHER AGAIN
9. SUFJAN STEVEN’S – ILLINOISE:
Make a welcome bed buddy, with a gentle vibey 70 minutes of music. Doesn’t have any major beats within the music, but it’s soft, lyrical and Sufjan’s voice is sexy – you almost wish he was singing to you.
8. ADELE 21:
Certainly makes an impact and sets the tone. Soft and easy on the ear – 21 certainly doesn’t distract from the mission at hand. KEY TRACK: SOMEONE LIKE YOU
7. QUEER AS FOLK – SEASON FOUR – VARIOUS ARTISTS:
Ever see the US version of QAF. If not you’ve missed out. The music from the series is outstanding and the compilation is flawless for a bit of pawness! (plus you can act out your favourite sex scene from QAF – are you into rimming???)
6. DAMIEN RICE – 0:
Is always a favourite artist choice. His music gently adds atmosphere without taking away from the moment. Like candles and incense. The man has a seriously sexy voice and the music drips emotion, perfect for a softly, softly love making session.
5. Can I hear you get DIRRTY? Oh yes, no Sexy Album List would be complete without our Dirrty mistress Christina’s STRIPPED.
This landmark album entered our CD collection in 2002 and is probably the most played. It superbly fits a sexy session, anytime, any day with enough beats and slow downs to keep you both going for the 70 minute length of the CD. (Oo er, a 70-minute session – we’re tired just at the thought!)
4. AIR – MOON SAFARI.
This is some seriously sexy music. The French duo takes the listener to a place that’s smooth, sexy and sublime. KEY TRACK: SEXY BOY (Obvs!)
3. ALICIA KEYS – AS I AM.
Turn the lights now and let this smooth voice take you away. This voice is like getting high on dope (not that we know) but we imagine that’s what it’s like. KEY TRACKS: LESSON LEARNED, LIKE YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN.
2. WEEDS SOUNDTRACK VOLUME 2 – VARIOUS ARTISTS:
This is an eclectic mix of songs from artists like Fern Jones (Strange Things Are Happening) To Regina Spektor (Ghost of Corporate Future) All together this album packs a nice, sexy smooth pace. KEY TRACKS: HOLLAND – SUFJAN STEVENS, JENNY OWENS YOUNGS: ***K, WAS I.
1. JAKE HOOK – SXY.
Believe it or not, this EP was written about sex and believe it or not it was written by our very own Editor and Chief, Jake Hook in 2007. It’s 31 minutes long and takes you on a journey from “Crave” (when you really want it) to masturbation (Satisfied?). All good stuff TBH and it’s free to listen to on Spotify. -

Queer As Folk Actress Returns To Emmerdale
Viewers last saw Joanie when Kyle’s mother, Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny) went on the run leaving on a ferry. Joanie took custody of her adopted grandson Kyle and returned with the boy, to her life in Leeds.
Joanie is now down on her luck, living in temporary housing and struggling to bring Kyle up. With nowhere to turn, she contacts Kyle’s real father Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) for some money, to help her with a flat deposit, safe in the knowledge Cain would never want Kyle in his life.
Yet when she’s suddenly mugged, robbing her of Cain’s hand-out, Joanie is at rock bottom, knowing Kyle could be taken away as she doesn’t have a proper roof over their head.
A desperate Joanie soon arrives in Emmerdale village where Cain is furious to see her but could it be the Dingle family who offer Joanie the help she so badly needs?
Denise explains: “I am very excited to be coming back to Emmerdale. It’s a lovely show to work on and I’m well set for Joanie’s revival. I bet she has learned a thing or two since we last saw her. Is she still a single grandma? Has she changed? How is Kyle? I can’t wait to find out.”
Denise also have a brief appearance in Channel 4’s hit Cucumber.
Denise’s reappearance is screened from Wednesday 17th June on ITV’s Emmerdale.
