X Factor singer Danny Tetley has come out as gay

    ITV

Danny Tetley has opened up about his sexuality and revealed his dad’s surprising response when he found out.

Danny has been out to his family since 2001, but it’s only now that his sexuality has become wider public knowledge. Speaking to The Sun, about how he came out to his Dad, Danny said, “I always had my questions over the years but Dad was never open about it.

It turns out that the pair came out to each other whilst on holiday in the LA and were comparing which guys they both found attractive.

Danny revealed, “In LA we’d gone into a bar and then realised it was a gay bar.

“The drinks flowed and we started talking about the men in there who were handsome.

“That led to a conversation back at the hotel and we were honest with each other for the first time.

“It was quite a strange moment — there aren’t many fathers and sons who are gay.”

“It must have been tough for my dad growing up in the era he did and not being able to be himself”.

He revealed that his parents split when the singer was just six-years-old, Danny was quick to add, however, that his father did love his mum.

The X Factor singer realised that he was gay when he was just four years old. Speaking about how people react when they find out that he is gay he says that they’re often surprised, “When I did come out it was always a bit of a shock because I was in the rugby and football teams. People say I am not your typical gay man, but who is?”

    So is Danny single?

According to the singer, he is focussing on the competition at the moment and doesn’t have time for dating, but joked that since he’s been on the show that his social media has blown up with male attention. He said, “I’ve had plenty of men hitting on me through social media, saying they fancy me, but I have no time at the minute and I’m liking my own space.”

Speaking to the Daily Beast about his new project, a play called Thom Pain, Dexter actor, Michael C Hall spoke about his own sexuality, saying that he thinks that sexuality is on a spectrum and that making out with a male actor night after night made him “lean” into being sexually fluid.

He told the website, “I think there’s a spectrum. I am on it … If there was a percentage, I would say I was not all the way heterosexual.”

He continued: “I think playing the emcee required me to fling a bunch of doors wide open because that character I imagined as pansexual … Yeah, like I made out with Michael Stuhlbarg every night doing that show. I think I have always leaned into any fluidity in terms of my sexuality.”

TheGayUk.com recently asked its reader whether thought that sexuality was on a spectrum. Over two-thirds of readers believe that sexuality is indeed on a spectrum.

Speaking about his desire for a more intimate relationship with a man, Hall revealed,

“I’ve never had an intimate relationship with a man,

“I think, maybe because of an absent father, there has definitely been a craving for emotional intimacy with a man.”

“I don’t mean to suggest that an emotional relationship between a father and son is any way homoerotic. I mean an emotional intimacy or connection that at least in the milieu I grew up in was considered fey.”

However, he stated that “as a rule” he identified as heterosexual.

  • Grey’s Anatomy star comes out as gay

Twenty-seven-year-old actor Jake Borelli came out via Instagram the same night as his character on the show Grey’s Anatomy.

Jake Borelli, took time on Thursday to write a heart-warming message on social media after his character, Dr Levi Schmitt, on the long-running TV drama, Grey’s Anatomy embarked on a same-sex love story. The actor wrote how he “craved” as a young person, storylines like the one his character is involved with and hoped that the character would bring hope to others.

Taking to Instagram the star wrote, “As a gay guy myself, tonight’s episode was so special to me. This is exactly the kind of story I craved as a young gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that I’m able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season on Grey’s Anatomy. His vulnerability and courage inspire me every day, and I hope he can do the same for you”.

Borelli continued, “To all of you who feel like little Levis out there, know that I do too, that you are seen, and that we’re all in this together. And to everyone who has supported me over the years, I can’t thank you enough, and I love you more than all the stars…”

The actor also spoke to Entertainment Weekly about opening up about his sexuality, saying that he was already out to his wider circle of friends and family, “I’ve been out to my friends and family for almost 10 years now, but within the last couple of months of shooting the show and really getting to know this character and seeing the response, I’ve realised that this is becoming bigger than just me,” he told the outlet.

“Within the last year or so, I’ve been given the opportunity to speak on a much larger platform. With that opportunity, I am able to come out to a much larger group of people”.

The post was liked 25,000 times over 12 hours and the actor received scores of supportive messages from fans.

Big Brother star comes out as gay on national TV

Big Brother star Cameron Cole has come out as gay on a national TV show.

Cameron Cole has become the first male Big Brother UK contestant to come out as gay on the programme. The 18-year-old vlogger opened up about his sexuality on the reality TV programme. His coming out was broadcast on last night’s episode (5th October).

He came out during a discussion with fellow housemate Lewis Flanagan. The reveal came after openly gay housemate Cian explained to other housemates, the previous night, that he had a crush on Cameron and would “eat him alive”.

However, Cameron found the announcement awkward.

Speaking to Lewis about what Cian had said, Cameron opened up saying,

“I just wish he wouldn’t have fcking said it. Even if he’d just said it to you, that’d be fine but to say it to the whole fcking group… Everyone’s awkward today with me. Every single person. Conversations are just weird.”

He continued, “I don’t even know what the f*ck to say to him. I don’t even know where to start… Everyone thinks I’m acting weird because someone said they like me. They don’t understand that there’s more layers to that.”

Lewis then asked, “Are you gay?” Cameron who was hiding his face with his hoody replied “yes”. Lewis rallied Cameron to show his face before congratulating him for coming out.

Big Brother continues on Sunday (October 7) on Channel 5.

Before coming out to his teammates, 22-year-old DeVine described his worry on how they would react on hearing the news. He said, “I’m a gay athlete. There aren’t too many of us, so when I came out to my college team, that was a really tough time for me.”

However, to their credit his teammates were nothing but supportive.

He said, “I remember that being a pretty emotional time, and just feeling my whole team wrap around me and feeling that love in a place where I hadn’t really felt it, that was definitely special for me.

  • Boy Erased star Lucas Hedges comes out as “not totally straight”

“I recognize myself as existing on that spectrum”

Welcome to the club hunny! Lucas Hedges has confirmed in a recent interview that he doesn’t identify as totally straight. But not Bisexual or Gay. Somewhere on the spectrum.

The Boy Erased and Manchester By The Sea star was speaking in a Vulture interview when he sort of “came out” after revealing he had a crush on a boy at camp.

    He confided in his mother,

“I felt terrible about it. I remember her being very comforting, and she understood that something was distressing me, and she said, ‘You don’t have to go back to camp today.’ [Pause] I’m sorry, I can’t help but feel a little self-conscious, only because I’m talking to you and the world at the same time.”

    He continues,

“I owe it to this part to speak as honestly as possible. In the early stages of my life, some of the people I was most infatuated with were my closest male friends. That was the case through high school, and I think I was always aware that while for the most part I was attracted to women, I existed on a spectrum.”

Lucas recalls learning about that spectrum from a health teacher in sixth grade — and was at first concerned he didn’t feel like he fit all the way into the nice box of “straight”:

“I felt ashamed that I wasn’t 100 percent, because it was clear that one side of sexuality presents issues, and the other doesn’t as much.”

    Finally, he explains,

“I recognise myself as existing on that spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”

Garrett just shared an emotional Instagram post with his 1.4 million users, in which he talks from the heart about why he’s taken on his latest film, Reach, a project which deals with timely issues which have affected the actor personally.

In the post, he also refers to his boyfriend, Blake Knight, whom he says he has been with for a “very long time”.

    He wrote,

“REACH deals with some very serious and timely topics that have affected me personally, and have likely influenced many of your lives as well,” wrote Clayton. “(I also prefer to share things that are particularly important for me here on my IG) instead of in some random magazine or online article – because you are the ones that have been rooting for me and following me on my professional and personal journey in life.”

With the release of my new movie REACH coming up, I thought it was important to explain why I took on this project in the first place. REACH deals with some very serious and timely topics that have affected me personally, and have likely influenced many of your lives as well. (I also prefer to share things that are particularly important for me here on my IG) instead of in some random magazine or online article – because you are the ones that have been rooting for me and following me on my professional and personal journey in life. When I read the script for REACH, I immediately knew it was a film I had to be a part of. I have personally dealt with suicide within my own family, intense bullying in high school, and – on top of it all – myself and the man I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time (@hrhblakeknight) have both experienced shootings within our hometown school systems, and have witnessed the heartache that takes place in affected communities after such tragic events. These topics – not always easy to discuss- are all close to my heart, and, knowing how serious they are, I wanted to share this with you all. This film has come from the perspectives of people who care deeply about these issues, and if watching it helps even one person… then it was all worth it. ♥️

He’s overcome a lot, and still has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I’ve ever met. Handsome, talented, hilarious, kind… what’s not to love?! • This pro footballer has just come out as gay

Slowly the closet doors that lead to the sportsfield are being swung open.

Twenty-three-year-old Collin Martin has just come out as gay, wrapped in a pride flag. Amen to that. He becomes the second Stateside pro footballer to do so. Robbie Rogers was the first in 2013.

He made the announcement via Twitter.

He wrote, “I am announcing for the first time publicly that I am an openly gay player in Major League Soccer,

“June is Pride month, and I am proud to be playing for Pride, and to be playing as an out gay man.”

Collin plays for Minnesota United for two seasons. Before that, he played for DC United. He is a midfielder.

Despite this great news, the UK has yet to see an openly gay player come out. There are concerns that football players are scared of the consequences of coming out as gay. There are also concerns about the level of scrutiny they may receive. British tabloids have run numerous stories of a Premiership footballer who is on the cusp of coming out as gay or bisexual.

In 2015 a betting site even opened odds on who the first footballer to come out as gay would be.
