14 people who would make great UK Drag Race judges

Here are 14 people who we’re keen to see judging.

    Geri Horner (Halliwell)

Let’s be honest, Geri is essentially a gay man trapped in a woman’s body and has been offering the British public some of the most outrageous outfits ever in pop culture. Judging a bunch of drag queens is what Geri was born to do…well, except be a Spice Girl.

    Sharon Osbourne

Every X Factor viewer pines for her and after years of being married to Ozzy Osbourne, she’s probably quite good with advice on how to apply a lot of makeup. Just have to hope Dannii Minogue isn’t asked to guest judge the same week…

    Louis Walsh

If we have Sharon, then we need to bring in Louis. The love or loathe panellist with X Factor on ice that, of course, leaves him open to new career ventures. Maybe he could manage the winning Queen?

    Joan Collins

A national treasure and the Queen of Soap Opera, Dame Joan Collins’ Dynasty shoulder pads were enough to drive any drag queen wild with desire. Her quintessentially 80’s style would definitely offer some inspiration to the contestants.

    Judge Rinder

Having his own show on ITV start last year, Robert Rinder is used to being a no-nonsense judge to the masses however, would he be able to handle a drag queen? There’s a high chance they may not take his criticism as easily.

    Janet Street-Porter

The iconic fleet street journo has more than a reputation for speaking her mind on just about anything so let’s so what she thinks of some of the UK’s top drag artists.

    Ed Balls

Having been an advocate of gay rights during his time in Westminster, Ed Balls lost his seat in a bloodbath of an election defeat for Labour. He’s since said he’s considering Strictly Come Dancing but what about he does something with a little more class?

    Tan France

    Queer Eye

With numerous TV shows, like Queer Eye, under his belt, including his time judging on Next In Fashion, Tan’s unique fashion sensibilities and calming influence would be perfect.

    Lily Allen

As with Janet, Lily is someone who rarely misses an opportunity to voice her opinion and when it comes to the gay community, she’s a bit of an icon – having gone as far to record a song called ‘Fag Hag’.

    Boy George

Ok, so if he doesn’t do it, could we at least have a ‘Lip Sync For Your Life’ round including Karma Chameleon? It would be absolute perfection.

    Kim Cattrall

Sex And The City is nothing without one of our best acting exports, Kim Cattrall. It would be a dream to have her on the panel, especially if she was able to remember some of Samantha’s best put-downs for the show.

    Julian Clary

    Julian Clary

The original gay stand up has already done Strictly and Celebrity Big Brother as a contestant so perhaps it is time for him to turn his attention to being a judge instead. His hilarious digs had us all laughing the 90’s so perhaps a stint on Drag Race could be the trick for a much-needed career resurrection?

    Barbara Windsor

Now, this would be perfect, a soapstar round. I’m thinking Madge Bishop, Bet Lynch, Pat Butcher but, most importantly Peggy Mitchell played by this national treasure. Our tellies have lacked the fun that Barbara offered to Eastenders since her departure in 2011. Moreover, we’d love to see her up against RuPaul…”GET OUT OF MY MAKE UP STUDIO”

    Sinitta

Simon Cowell’s BFFL who only really has to work for a few weeks in autumn. The X Factor’s no.1 novelty staple could do with actually making it onto the judging panel for once instead of merely being a mentor.

  • Sinitta has “ridiculous” CBB demands

Sinitta is approached for Celebrity Big Brother every single year – but bosses swiftly retract their offer when they hear her “ridiculous” demands.

    Sinitta has "ridiculous" CBB demands

The ‘So Macho’ hitmaker has admitted she’s asked to enter the famous abode every time bosses put the line-up together but, although they’re put off by her terms and conditions, she’s adamant they’ll come round to her way of thinking sometime soon.

Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (20.07.17), she said,

” Well they said my demands were ridiculous – I said they were reasonable.

“We’ve been talking for years and we’ll go on talking. I’m going to live for a few more years and I think they’ll come around to my way of thinking.”

However, the 53-year-old singer certainly has her hands full this year as she’s confident that her friend Simon Cowell will ask her to help him with the Judges’ Houses round of the forthcoming series of ‘The X Factor’ after he replaced her with Mel B last year.

    She explained,

“Remember Simon last year invited me back live on air? So you know we’ve got that, we’ve got that recorded.

“But I did read recently that he offered Cheryl Tweedy £500,000 to come back to do Judges’ Houses. Rude, just rude. I mean I don’t know – hopefully he’s just being funny.”

And, although she thinks the 57-year-old music mogul – who has a three-year-old son called Eric with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman – is “sexy”, she doesn’t fancy him.

    She said,

“They said, ‘do I still think he is attractive now that he has sort of become more cosy and softer’ and I said, ‘he is still a very handsome, sexy man’. Does that mean I still fancy him? … Because I know he is not really that scary but obviously he can be to people he doesn’t know but I’m kind of like sister/mother/daughter. We’ve got a very strange relationship but it is an honest one.”

  • INTERVIEW | Sinitta

If you don’t know who Sinitta is then we can only ask one question, which rock have you been sleeping under? We talk to X FACTOR’s favourite guest… Sinitta.

So… So Many Men So Little Time, we’re getting a theme here with your hits – all to do with man loving, (girl after our own heart)… So what are you looking for this time, someone Macho? Toy Boyish? or other?
Actually now I’m looking for someone gorgeous with a big big BIG heart!
Lips that are juicy and chewy, a touch that is firm but gentle… I’m crazy and emotional, I need passion, warmth and soul. I want eyes that I can melt in and a chest I can lie on and weep on and sleep on and a body I can feast on. Forever… Sorry Did I say that out loud?

5/5 She’s an animal. Someone get this woman a man… Stat!

What’s your feelings about grown men in Onesies?
Hmmm I actually got to see quite a few this year and they were men of all different shapes and sizes. They looked ridiculous but comfortable, so it was kind of sweet really.

4/5 Come on now Sinitta, ridiculous is the word… Comfortable and fashion are two words that should never be heard together… You should know that!

Do you know what ‘Sounding’ is?
    NO!

Explain to Sinitta that it involves men’s bits and a metal rod…

Even with the clues – just NO! No idea!

2/5 The naive mind is a precious place. Once you’ve seen it – you can’t un-see it.

Have you ever given or tried to give fashion advice to Simon Cowell?
    Of course!

3/5 And does he listen? We think you need to take scissors to his high wasted jeans and cut cut cut.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever read about yourself?
Oh dear, ok latest one is that Simon has me gagged so I can’t talk about stuff. How can you GAG THE MOUTH?!! Anyway, it’s not true, I actually exercise my own censorships and discretions, it’s Louis who needs a Gag! And a Bit, and a Bridle!

6/5 Love that she’s referred to herself as THE MOUTH. Extra points for the capitalisation but we’ve deducted some points for the mental image of Louis in a gag, bit and bridle.

The biggest pain in the world is… a) Simon Cowell b) Child birth, or c) Getting a tropical plant’s leaf stuck in a place that it shouldn’t be?
This one’s easy, a Broken Heart. That thing can just ache and ache and ache for such a long time, you wonder if you will EVER be the same again. But TRUTH is, eventually you will get better and it will be ok.

4/5 White wine heals all wounds darl, white wine and Tramadol.

Is there any possible way to out camp the leaf dress?
I really do hope so, though I must admit I haven’t thought of it yet… Imagine if I have “peaked in campness” now, with so many years left to live – nightmare!

4/5 Perish the thought – Can we suggest you in an oversized champagne glass, served with 4 topless hunks, wearing nothing but the labels of a well known champagne brand?

You seem to be the nicest celebrity that ever graced the earth! There must be an inner Diva? Ever had a stand up argument with another celebrity? Who, What, When and did you patch it up?
Aah, that’s really sweet of you to say that… Hmmm I did have a very famous fight with Pete Burns back in the 90s – we were performing with Kylie. Playing the Tokyo Dome he is about 6ft 2 and me 5ft 4 and he thought I was babyish and said, “Here she is-LITTLE MISS SHOWBIZ” in a catty voice and tried to fling me off of the stage! I think we were fighting over a boy, I can’t really remember what triggered it, so I grabbed him by his weave and shook him until all of his rings fell off and threw him onto the ground and stood on him in my red patent leather heels!
Ok, now the truth -
I was pretty lame I must admit, I think I just let some big man pick me up and carry me away and then started yelling back at him from a safe distance! We are good though Pete and I, we actually get along well if we see each other. He’s actually a big softie!

10/5 – Automatic 2 extra points for mentioning Kylie. Two more points for the over active imagination and the visual of grabbing Pete by the weave and 1 more for the truth fairy…

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Best advice I have ever been given – gosh so much good stuff… Be true to yourself always, then at least you always know who you are and where you are at. That may have been me who said that. Or, if you are going through Hell, just keep on going and don’t stop until you get the hell out of there – and no matter how hurt you get never give up on Love… Love fiercely, even when you fight… Love each other

4/5 This is very Celine Dion. We like.

What are you doing, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday night? Aren’t you knackered?
Knackered!!! Actually when not being a disco diva or being Mama, you can find me on my lover’s chest watching House of Cards. On Netflix! It’s incredible… After that I will be watching Scandal. Kerry Washington! Sounds so normal right? But, I will be wearing Westwood heels and a Chanel feather jacket…

7/5 Sinitta you kill us. Long live the Leaf wearing campness that is Diva Mamma Sinitta.

  • Sinitta rocks Pride in London

You’ve got to hand it to her… Sinitta knows how to bring it!

Sinitta wowed crowds at yesterday’s Pride In London event…

Performing her brand new comeback single Too Many Men, Too Little Time, Sinitta proved that she’s still got it and is every inch a star.

  • Sinitta to relaunch pop career at London’s Pride

80’s pop idol will release first single in two decades

80’s pop princess Sinitta is planning to relaunch her pop career at London Pride.

The star, who notched up nine UK top 40 hits in the late 80s including ‘So Matcho’ and ‘Toy Boy’, will perform her new single to tens of thousands of revellers from the Out In The City & G3 Magazine float at London Pride on 28 June.

The single, ‘So Many Men, So little Time’, is a re-release of her mother Miquel Brown’s high tempo disco track which hit number 2 in the UK club chart in 1982.

The single will be available to download from iTunes.

In an interview with Out In The City magazine this week, Sinitta told of her excitement at releasing the single as well as her plans for recording a new album.

    Sinittia said:

‘It was long overdue to get back in the studio. So Many Men’ just seemed like the perfect choice, it is a kind of song to break the ice and I’m looking forward to singing it for the first time at London Pride.

I’m also working on an album of new material and now that i’m back the creative juices are flowing.’

Out In the City magazine editor, David Hudson, said:

“Gay audiences love Sinitta. ‘So Matcho’ and ‘Toy Boy’ are huge gay anthems and the new single has the potential to be the same.

‘Launching her new single at Pride is a big statement from Sinitta who will be hoping to appeal to old and a new generation of fans who will best know her from the X Factor.

‘We’re thrilled that she is performing on the Out In The City & G3 magazine float’.
