  • Interviewer asks Troye Sivan whether he’s a top or bottom and gets shut down

Interviewer asks Troye Sivan whether he’s a top or bottom and gets shut down

An interviewer’s job is to get into the nooks and crannies of their subject’s life, but how far to probe is too far?

Asking a gay pop star whether they’re a top of a bottom might just be that line and Troye Sivan, was not here for the questioning – saying that he was “passing the question” and called the interviewer, Matt Fistonich, “wildly invasive, strange and innapropriate”

Turns out the internet, well, Twitter wasn’t for the line of questioning either, with many on social media calling out the journalist who conducted the interview for his line of questioning.

In the interview, for Express Magazine in NZ, Matt asked a variety of questionings including, whether Troye’s boyfriend would give him a “hall pass” for his celebrity crush, Shawn Mendes and whether he likes Will And Grace – because, well you know, gay…

Troye’s fans blasted the journalist calling on Matt to apologise for the questions and some even suggested that he should be fired from his job… because you know… Twitter.

  • Drag Race UK contestant, Baga Chipz forced to defend political stance

Drag Race UK contestant, Baga Chipz forced to defend political stance

One of Drag Race UK‘s queens has been forced to defend her political stance.

Baga Chipz, who is one of the contestants for very first RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, has been forced to defend a pro-Conservative op-ed she wrote for a magazine back in 2017, during the General Election.

In the piece, she wrote, that former Prime Minister Theresa May had “proved to be a capable politician, always on the ball and never at risk of having a ‘Diane Abbott’ moment”.

The piece was unearthed by fans of the show, some of whom were quick to condemn Chipz as a “Tory Queen”.

However, Baga Chipz was quick to confirm that she was actually a “life-long labour supporter” but wrote the piece because she wasn’t a fan of Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn.

She pointed out his “record on antisemitism, his support for the IRA and homophobic terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, his support for brutal dictatorships in Venezuela and Cuba”.

In the piece, titled “Why Vote Conservative” for scene magazine Boyz, she wrote,

“As a member of the LGBTQI community, I often get asked about Theresa May’s voting record on gay rights, and I understand the concerns,

“But just as Hillary Clinton changed her stance, so has Mrs May. Not only has she voted for every LGBT reform in parliament in the last decade but she was instrumental in pushing marriage equality.”

    “I am not a Tory”

Defending her 2017 stance, Chipz took to Twitter to write,  “I am not a Tory. I’m actually a lifelong labour supporter. I supported Theresa May in the last election as I’m not a fan of Jeremy Corbyn.. was 4 years ago hun.. one is allowed to change ones views.

    — Baga Chipz MBE (@ChipShopBird) August 21, 2019

How does Theresa May’s Voting Record on LGBT+ issues stand?

Although more recently Theresa May’s voting record has leaned to pro-LGBT+ rights here past actions saw her vote in favour of Section 28,  in a GAYUK analysis May only achieved a 29.6% LGBT+ friendly rating. We noted, “Ms May is what we’d call an evolved Minister on LGBT+ and gay rights. Prior to 2004 she systematically voted against the rights of gay people in the UK. Then we see a 180-degree change in her voting pattern, although she did have a blip in 2007 when she failed to vote on the Discrimination on the grounds of sexuality law. Since the beginning of this decade, she has voted positively for the LGBT+ community.”

    (C) MiniKweenKeeKee / INSTAGRAM

India Willougby has spoken out about children performing in drag, saying that drag is “no place for young kids”, before adding that it is a “slippy slope” which could open them to ‘all sorts of abuse and grooming’.

Speaking about Kween Kee Kee who at the age of nine has become one of the world’s most famous drag children, India was clear in her objection to the notion of children getting involved with this type of performance art.

In a tweet, the news presenter wrote “Can no-one see why this is wrong?” in connection to a story about how a nine-year-old drag queen, has become a hit on Instagram.

  • Jonathan Harvey had the perfect clap back for “gay sin” bigot

Jonathan Harvey had the perfect clap back for “gay sin” bigot

When one the world’s most famous gay authors makes a clap back against religious bigotry towards gay people – he does it well.

Beautiful Thing writer, Jonathan Harvey had a few words for a person on Twitter who claimed that giving into sin, and in particular being gay, could “ruin” us if we let that sin “rule” us.

In the Tweet, Lisa Bedrick, who describes herself as having a BA in English and a “minor in Bible” wrote, “Maybe gay people are born gay. We are All born with an inclination toward some sin, but we can either have self control over that sin or we can let it rule us and ruin our lives”.

    https://twitter.com/angel28kc/status/1159958159689166848

The Tweet has gone viral with over 7,000 responses to it.

Gimme Gimme Gimme creator Jonathan Harvey wasn’t having any of it and clapped back, “Jesus would be ashamed of you dear. Your humble braggery about your perfection is a fuckin sin dear. Pipe down.

He then tweeted Lisa directly, adding, “I’m a bit worried about your claim that Jesus loves you. I’m not sure he will if you spread incorrect information like homosexuality is caused by child abuse. He’ll see that as bearing false witness and the bible considers that a no-no.”

However, Jonathan wasn’t the only celeb to get involved, Lord Michael Cashman wrote, “Take your opinion about other peoples lives wrap it in tinfoil and place it in the fridge of your god and if you really are a true believer allow them to decide.

“You commit the ultimate blasphemy by sitting in the place of your god and telling and judging others. Move along”.

While Drag superstar Lady Bunny, wrote, “Maybe some straight people are born straight. Even though they’re born with an inclination to yell at sports games with hot dogs on their breath while wearing fanny packs & Uggs, gays pray that they’ll exercise fashion self control b4 they ruin the world!”

“Is homosexuality caused by a fear of having children?”

Inexplicably, Ms Bedrick followed the tweets a few other questions and comments which were beyond EXTRA.

One read, “This might make some of you mad but I think this is a valid question. Is homosexuality caused by a fear of having children?”

In another, she said that she thought that homosexuality was caused by sexual abuse, saying “Regarding homosexuality, my heart goes out to those who are because I could have been there. I think it is caused by being sexually abused, and I was. But All things are possible with God. You might not like the opposite sex due to fear from sexual abuse, but you can overcome. ;)”

Jonathan had a response to this doozy of Tweet, saying “The only thing I’ve ever been abused by is your humongous ego, y dozy melt. Yours, a gay.”
