  • John Barrowman’s success after being dropped by record label

    John Barrowman recently released his Pledge Music fan-funded album You Raise Me Up. It reached #16 in the UK album charts, much better than his two of his previous studio albums with record label Sony.

    Another Side (2007) Barrowman released with Sony BMG only managed to reach #22 in the UK album chart. Music Music Music (2008) also with Sony barely entered the UK album chart at #35. His album John Barrowman reached #11, but after this the record label dropped Barrowman. A fan at a convention in the US later asked Barrowman when his next album was coming out. He explained that it wasn’t and the young fan said: ‘We’ll fund it!’

    Barrowman, when talking about You Raise Me Up said that he felt privileged to make the album and that: ‘I think this is the best album that I’ve ever, ever made.’

    Despite dropping to #25 on the UK album charts this week, it seems that Barrowman is having more success with Pledge Music (a site that allows fans to pledge money to artists in exchange for a copy of the album, merchandise and meet and greet opportunities) than he was with the record label.

    So does this mean that the Record Labels need to watch out?

  • MADE IN CHELSEA: Jamie Laing Gets Naked For New Series Promo

    Now we like a Chelsea boy that gets naked at a drop of a hat…

    Made In Chelsea Jamie Laing, 25 has gotten naked for a promo for the new series, Made In Chelsea: New York. Jamie Laing is the current heir to the McVitie’s empire.

    The reality star, who has appeared in the show since series 2, appears in the trailer with nothing on, with just a bottle of perfume to cover his naughty regions.

    he last series of Made In Chelsea was hit by controversy after new cast member Miffy tweeted an anti-gay slur directed towards Rylan Clark. He also railed against gay marriage saying, ‘It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve #gaymarriagef***off.’

    The new series is expected to begin its run of six episodes in August 2014.

  • Joe Simpson Shows Off Camera Skills With Hot Model Friend

    You may remember we introduced Jonathan Keith to you a few months back – well he’s got a new photographer.

    Uploading this picture to his Instagram, Jonathan Keith, 21, is certainly working it and the photographer is his current manager Joe Simpson, 55, (father to Jessica and Ashlee).

    Tabloid rumours are going mad saying that both gorgeous Scottish model Jonathan and Joe are in a relationship together, but the pair have denied it.

    Taking to Twitter Joe said, ‘More mis-information in the news. The guy in the pics is my modeling client. He was in Miami taking agency meetings. That’s it!!’

    Apparently Joe caused upset at Jessica’s recent wedding after he brought Jonathan to the ceremony, which allegedly hurt Tina Simpson, Jessica and Ashlee’s Mum. Joe and Tina split in 2012 after 34 years of marriage.

    Jonathan and Joe maintain that their relationship is strictly model and manager.

    We’re not sure who’s telling JB that hats are back, but if they are he’s certainly paid attention.

    Now, we may have missed the memo that said ‘Cowboy hats is back’ but we’re not sure that this look is truly working for Justin Bieber. Now there are many reasons why people take to wearing hats all of a sudden. Maybe JB is concerned about sun protection… Or maybe not. Sales in hats apparently rocketed since Justin started sporting the look. (Thats a lie… We didn’t do any research on hat sales).

    Justin recently announced his retirement from the music industry – a statement that was immediately retracted by his management. Judging by some of the posts to his instagram, is Justin venturing into the world of modelling?

    Perez Hilton, 36, has posted a #ThrowbackThursday picture of himself when he was in his teens on Instagram, with the caption: ‘This was my sad attempt at a model shot! #PosingHard #OhThe90s #LOLs #TBT #ThrowbackThursday.’

    We have to say we’re not feeling the bold patterns, but are liking the chess board prop. Very intelligent.

    Last year Perez Hilton, who became a father, feared for his life after a Twitter spat between Lady Gaga and himself caused her fans to threaten him and his son’s life.

    He said, ‘I can’t sleep. I am literally sick to my stomach. Not playing any f**king games here. I am afraid for my f**king safety and that of my son.’

    You may or may not want to avert your eyes, but Hollywood Gossip King has posted a naked pic!

    Earlier today Perez, 36, posted a picture of himself as a child model – now he’s posted a candid photo of himself naked in his bathroom.

    Perez has gone through an incredible body transformation having lost an enormous amount of weight through good diet and a rigorous exercise regime.

    He posted the picture on his Instagram saying, ‘When I’m dating, I make it clear I’ve got nothing to hide! #DatingNaked premieres July 17th at 9/8C on VH1! (sponsored)’

  • Dolly Parton and the abandoned dog

    Dolly, who played Glastonbury one week ago today, is definitely on fire! The crowd, on hand, at Glastonbury specifically watching Dolly’s performance reached in excess of 150,000 people while the BBC has reported the largest viewing audience ever of Glastonbury tuned in to see Dolly take the stage during their live broadcast.

    Then when Glastonbury was all over and everyone headed home, workers began cleaning the acres and acres of land when out of a tent pops a fluffy white dog that was left behind. Workers immediately named it “Dolly” as it characterized Dolly’s beauty, love, peace, and sweetness just as she had shown fans a few days before while performing on the Pyramid stage. As media became aware and the search for the dogs’ home began, the dog was quickly nicknamed “Doggy Parton”.

    Now on a dog-gone good note, Dolly Parton plans to adopt the dog provided the original owners are not found.

    ‘I had my manager Danny Nozell call the Happy Landings Animal Shelter to make sure the dog is being treated and cared for properly,’ says Dolly Parton. ‘At this time, nobody has claimed the dog and the dog is in great hands at the shelter. I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time.’

    In addition, the iconic Dolly Parton shows no signs of slowing down as her latest UK album release ‘Blue Smoke – The Best Of’, brings Dolly to her all-time highest chart position landing at #4 in its fourth week of release. Dolly originally entered the chart at #6, which at the time, was her highest ever album chart position.

    Dolly has just taken to Twitter to say, ‘Heard about the abandoned dog at @GlastoFest? If nobody claims her, I’ll take her home to America! Ain’t she cute :)’

  • It’s one year on since Steve Grand’s All American Boy

    It’s a year ago today that Steve Grand made history with his All American Boy single, making him the first, openly gay Country singer in the US.

    Within 8 days the music video for All American Boy had over 1m views on YouTube. The song, set against a backdrop of country roads, an American flag and friends around a campfire, tells the story of unrequited love between two men.
    Grand recorded the vocals in his parents’ basement and maxed out his credit card to self-fund the groundbreaking video. The video was directed and edited by award-winning Chicago filmmaker Jason Knade

    In May Steve Grand said that his debut, crowd funded album would be delayed. Grand managed to raise $326,593 to independently record his album – he initially asked for just $81,000.

    Taking to his Facebook page, Grand said, ‘Today, July 2nd, is the 1-year anniversary of the release of “All-American Boy,” and I’m pretty sure I’m wearing the exact same white V-neck.
    I’m going to be working on recording my album all day (as I will be doing everyday until it is done and finished and most likely released in September), but I want to still take a few moments throughout the day to celebrate with you. And that starts with a giant “THANK YOU!!” .’

    British Comic Russell Brand has taken to his video blog, Trews to get to the bottom of a maths/anti-gay marriage problem that Ben Carson has…

    In the 3rd episode of Russell Brand’s web series called Trews, he takes on conservative Ben Carson, a columnist and retired neurosurgeon, who recently compared same-sex marriage to the mathematical sum of 2+2 = 5. Carson also compared abortion to human sacrifice.

    When Carson said that he wasn’t trying to stop gays from marrying, Brand said he ‘liked how people want a pat on the back for not trying to stop it.

    ‘Cheers, mate,” Brand said. ‘Thanks for not breaking into my house, coming into my bedroom, and pulling me off my partner. I really appreciate that.’

    When Carson began talking about maths and marriage Brand rounded the video up by saying, ‘This shows you how far away he is from the correct frequency of thought,’ Brand said. “He’s comparing a social and civil idea, like sexuality, to an objective system of signs like arithmetic.’
