  • Boy Erased star Lucas Hedges comes out as “not totally straight”

“I recognize myself as existing on that spectrum”

Welcome to the club hunny! Lucas Hedges has confirmed in a recent interview that he doesn’t identify as totally straight. But not Bisexual or Gay. Somewhere on the spectrum.

The Boy Erased and Manchester By The Sea star was speaking in a Vulture interview when he sort of “came out” after revealing he had a crush on a boy at camp.

    He confided in his mother,

“I felt terrible about it. I remember her being very comforting, and she understood that something was distressing me, and she said, ‘You don’t have to go back to camp today.’ [Pause] I’m sorry, I can’t help but feel a little self-conscious, only because I’m talking to you and the world at the same time.”

    He continues,

“I owe it to this part to speak as honestly as possible. In the early stages of my life, some of the people I was most infatuated with were my closest male friends. That was the case through high school, and I think I was always aware that while for the most part I was attracted to women, I existed on a spectrum.”

Lucas recalls learning about that spectrum from a health teacher in sixth grade — and was at first concerned he didn’t feel like he fit all the way into the nice box of “straight”:

“I felt ashamed that I wasn’t 100 percent, because it was clear that one side of sexuality presents issues, and the other doesn’t as much.”

    Finally, he explains,

“I recognise myself as existing on that spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”

Katie Hopkins has had to enter into an Insolvency Agreement to avoid bankruptcy after losing her libel case with food writer Jack Monroe.

Monroe took to Twitter yesterday to say, “I can confirm today that following that landmark libel case, Katie Hopkins has entered into an IVA to avoid bankruptcy. I knew for a while but could not say anything for legal reasons. The arbitrary defender of free speech didn’t want anyone to know, ironically…”

Back in May, Hopkins was ordered to pay Monroe £24,000 in damages and legal costs after a court found that comments made about Monroe were libellous.

An Insolvency Agreement is an agreement which means that the applicant will repay their creditors but over a longer time frame.

According to government data, Hopkins entered into the IVA in May.

Monroe stated in another tweet, “I have been paid in full, but many of her creditors, including my lawyer, will not be paid what they are owed. For the want of an apology, a house, a job, a column, a radio show, and now financial solvency, were lost. It’s all very sad, actually”.

Katie Hopkins has not addressed the matter publicly.

  • Piers Morgan has a rule he wants you to follow

Piers Morgan has a rule he wants you to follow

The Good Morning Britain has a Twitter rule he wants you to know about.

The gender-non-conforming critical Piers Morgan has a Twitter rule and apparently, it’s a zero tolerance policy and will get you blocked as quickly as you can say, “I identify as an elephant”.

Writing on his timeline he told his 6.42 million followers that he had a zero tolerance policy to “foul-mouthed abuse on Twitter”

Falling foul of this policy will find you blocked from following and interacting with Mr Morgan and there are no “yellow cards – just straight red blocks”.

He then went on to call anyone who fails his policy a “cesspit dwelling troll”.

Piers is well-known for his rally against gender-non-conforming people from the LGBT+ community. His timeline has been filled with rage against people whose gender doesn’t conform to the binary of man and woman. Piers has fought with campaigners on his ITV show and on his own Twitter timeline and even written about it in his column with the MailOnline.

Piers Morgan has presented Good Morning Britain since 2015.

In 2017, the presenter condemned LGBT charity Stonewall, calling them “Piers-phobic” after a spokesperson blasted him for “bullying” a couple who identified as non-binary on Good Morning Britain.

So there you go. Don’t be nasty to Mr Morgan or you might just get a red card.

  • 4 totally gay James Franco films you can stream on Netflix

4 totally gay James Franco films you can stream on Netflix

If you’re a fan of James Franco’s queer sensibilities, then you’ll be pleased that Netflix has four films with an LGBT+ bent.

James Franco has described himself “gay up to a point” and that point being the sex bit, but that hasn’t stopped him exploring his gay side – with James starring in or producing a number of films which explore LGBT+ themes.

    Milk

Sean Penn, plays the central role of Harvey Milk and putting aside the hotly debated discussion of whether gay men should fill the roles of gay character’s in the films, Penn does a brilliant job. No ham involved. A remarkably sensitive portrayal of this pioneer in a backward, gay-loathing, backstabbing system. Of course, there is a certain bit of eye candy – that being one Mr James Franco, who plays Milk’s lover Scott Smith.

    I Am Michael

Based on the true story of Michael Glatze, who claimed he was no longer gay and became a straight pastor. But in 1999, Michael was in a gay relationship with boyfriend Bennett (Zachary Quinto) and was the editor of the successful real-life XY Magazine, while at the same time living in San Francisco – it was the ultimate gay life and gay lifestyle. But Bennett’s father has a job for him in Halifax, Canada, so they relocate there – it’s a city with not much to do, but they end up hooking up with the young good looking Tyler (Charlie Carver). But after a few panic attacks, and memories of his late father and mother, Michael starts to question his homosexuality – he starts to re-evaluate his life, loves, and takes up to reading the bible for answers, until one day he leaves it all behind for a new life.

    (C) Keiynan Lonsdale / INSTAGRAM

Out actor Keiynan Lonsdale, 26, has posted a naked picture of himself asking why we are taught that being naked is wrong. Despite saying that he wasn’t confident being naked, he stated, “each of us is made to feel incorrect inside our own physical form”.

In the post captioned,  “Dance naked, lose followers, gain leaders” he wrote,

“***P.s. why is it deemed wrong to not wear clothes? We’ve been taught poorly, & groomed to hold shame for ourselves, our human bodies.

“No matter what we look like, each of us is made to feel incorrect inside our own physical form, told that in order to survive & be a functioning, liked, & well respected person in society, we should hide this form from the world.

“That shit sounds whack to me. Now, I’m not at all at the confidence level to be neked in public lol, maybe one day i hope, but I’m sure as hell working on sharing & showing off my body to myself.. and it feels good.”

  • QI host Sandi Toksvig reveals huge pay gap between her and Stephen Fry

QI host Sandi Toksvig reveals huge pay gap between her and Stephen Fry

The first female host of QI has revealed a massive pay gap between her fee and that of the previous host Stephen Fry.

CREDIT: (C) BBC – Photographer: ABIGAIL ZOE MARTIN

Sandi Toksvig has revealed that she is paid just 40 percent of the fee that Stephen Fry commanded for her QI hosting gig. Speaking at the Women’s Equality Party conference, Sandi revealed that she puts up with the pay gap because she is the first female of the long-running BBC show.

However, Sandi is paid the same amount as another male presenter, Alan Davies.

Sandi, who is 60 this year, took over presenting QI from Stephen Fry in 2015.

    (C) BIGSTOCK

Speaking about the pay difference, she said, “I have recently discovered I get 40% of what Stephen used to get. And I get the same pay as (permanent panellist) Alan Davies, who is not the host.

“I temper this with the fact that I love the show and I’m the first woman to host such a show.”

Later, she added, “I love QI and the brilliant team who produce it. John Lloyd and the (production) team champion women on the show.”

However, some fans of the show were quick to point out that the pay gap could be because of the stars’ respective profile. For instance on Twitter, Stephen Fry has over 12.8 million followers, while Sandi has just 157,000. However, Sandi is also now heading up the very high profile presenting job on Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off, which makes her one of TV’s most sought-after presenters.

According to the BBC, producers Fremantle Media have made no comment on the difference.

  • Obituary: Lindsay Kemp “Dancing, The Quickest Route To Happiness”

    Lindsay Kemp 3 May 1938 – 25 August 2018.

I was saddened this weekend to hear that the dancer, teacher, actor, mentor and mime artist, Lindsay Kemp had passed away in Italy over the weekend. I was away at a festival and when a friend told me, we were both saddened. Others of our group didn’t know who he was.

To me, he will also be a shining star. A man who without his talents, we wouldn’t have had such amazing dance interpretations by Kate Bush. On being given her first big advance from EMI, she spent it wisely with Lindsay Kemp and it was his mentoring skills that brought out the creative confidence in Kate. In an interview, he said that Kate Bush was very shy but gave herself away to the music when she attended his Covent Garden dance studio.

To reciprocate what Lindsey had done, Kate dedicated a song to him called “Moving” from her debut album The Kick Inside and probably more so special in that it was the opening song on the album.

To listen to that song and having watched some of Lindsey’s work you are transported into interpretive dance and you can imagine the 2 of them falling into the music.

Kate Bush would come back to Lindsay for her 7th studio album the 1993 The Red Shoes where she would use Lindsay in the short video film of the accompanying film The Line, The Cross and The Curve where he would play the Guide into assisting Kate into singing back her three symbols from a very mischievous Miranda Richardson.

So I’ve just sat down to watch “he Line, The Cross and The Curve again as a homage to the great Lindsay Kemp and despite Kate calling the film a “load of bollocks” I think it was rather special and only 1 of 13 things Lindsey has been in for TV or film.

He passed away after spending the day rehearsing. RIP Lindsey Kemp, my queen of the dance.

  • Bianca Del Rio defends rape jokes (sort of)

Bianca Del Rio defends rape jokes (sort of)

Bianca Del Rio has gotten into some trouble over a rape joke and now she’s defended herself, kinda, sort of… not really.

    CREDIT: kathclick / Bigstock

The first thing you need to know about Bianca Del Rio, apart from she is one of the funniest insult comedians on the drag circuit, is that she’s not very good at apologising for jokes that cause offence.

So to quickly recap, BDR, who won season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race, was performing a routine discussing how emotional the cast of season 10 was. She singled out Blair St. Clair in particular for her emotional recounting of rape at a college party.

    She said,

“Seriously, I don’t even want to talk about season 10 because every fucking bitch cried every f*cking episode. Did you see that? Every episode!

It’s her fat ass going ‘Ugh I’m fat’ and then the other one… and then you’ve got that other bitch: ‘I was raped!’

No – f*ck you. You notice she wasn’t raped until she was in the bottom two? Think about that, bitch – that’s f*cking strategy.

Oh f*ck you rape is funny if you haven’t had it.

And if you weren’t raped, remember this – you’re ugly.”

The comments were quickly condemned, Montreal Pride distanced itself from the queen saying, it was “severely disassociating” from BDR.

“I wasn’t questioning the validity of anyone’s personal struggles”

BDR took to Instagram to share her response, which she gave to Hornet, to the backlash,

“Look, my point was everyone was crying on the last season of Drag Race to win over the judges and “save yourself from elimination.”

“I wasn’t questioning the validity of anyone’s personal struggles, but bringing it up right before you “lip sync for your life” was strategic … in my opinion.

“Back in the day, when a man in a wig had to “lip sync for their life,” they relied on a wig reveal, rose petals or picking up their opponent and twirling them around.

“Maybe I’m just nostalgic for the old days when drag was fun, not personal.

“Call it political correctness, social justice or whatever else. Bottom line is there will always be people who don’t agree with you. That’s life. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. That’s why there’s coffee.”

Blair St. Clair responded (although didn’t mention BDR by name) with a statement “rape jokes contribute to rape culture”.

“In the U.S. someone is sexually assaulted every 2 minutes, but people persist in thinking that making rape or sexual assault jokes is “comedy.” It is not. Rape jokes contribute to rape culture”.
