    Mix of people.

Cruisiest Area is near to car park. Daytime cruising: Car park farther down Daleside Road east, just before Toby’s Carvery. Be warned, gates are closed at 6pm in winter, and 7pm during summer. Best during mid-day up to early evening. Nighttime cruising: Old churchyard next to Colwick Hall, and the sides of the path towards the lake and back of Colwick Hall. The carpark along from the church closes at 5pm most days. People then walk into woods etc. You can also drive past the entrance to Colwick Hall Hotel and continue straight onto a large car with a yellow barrier entrance. This car park is usually available during the daytime but can sometimes on occasions be mistakenly left open in the evenings too. Officially, however, be warned, that the gates are closed at 6 pm in winter, and 7 pm during summer. So best during mid-day up to early evening.

THE UNDATEABLE GAY | downloads Plenty of Fish

I do it every Christmas period. For some unbeknown reason, usually around Boxing Day, I decide it might be a good idea to go in search of a husband. I don’t know what comes over me. It must be the excessive plonk consumed over the festive period.

Or, on a more serious note, it could be the fact that Christmas makes me feel all loved up and warm and fuzzy inside. And gives me the notion that it might actually be nice to fall in love after all.

Although I must confess I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be in requited love. Without wanting anybody to crack out the violins, it has been more years than I care to remember.

iPhone at the ready… Plenty OF Fish downloaded… And snap.

So, there I was on Boxing Day night, staring at the present-less Christmas tree, clutching a bottle of Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. Yes, I know it’s rare for anything other than New Zealand savvy B to pass my lips but I do like to treat myself from time to time.

After my third large Scotch, I stood up determinedly and declared to myself that I would find a husband. Dramatically pressing the buttons on my iPhone, I downloaded Plenty of Fish.

Obviously, I picked my best photographs and kept my profile simple.

“Love to laugh, love to have fun. Love the theatre, the beach, swimming, reading and writing. And I love men!”

Within minutes, a lovely looking chap called Matthew pops up in my inbox. Yes, I know, I just used the word CHAP. I’m clearly getting old. I even used the word DISCO when describing a CLUB the other day.

Anyway, back to Matthew who seemed rather forward.

    “Let’s video chat”, he insisted.

Okay, I thought. At least I’ll get to see him in the flesh and it will give me a glimpse of his true personality. It’s so easy to hide behind a keyboard.

As I pressed accept on the video chat, I saw that he was topless. I was in a two-piece pyjama set but each to their own.

The call starts off with small talk and then he pans down his pecs and six-pack. What a body, I think to myself.

And then he comes to his piece de resistance. I see him clutching his fully erect manhood, rather seductively. Now, I’m no prude but in my naivety, I truly believed this video call was to be an initial test to judge our compatibility.

“Watch me wank!” He bellows through the iPhone screen at me.

Being the ever-accommodating gay boy, I oblige. But after his voyeurism, I never hear from Matthew again and I notice that he’s blocked me. Bastard.

Never mind, an extremely cute bloke called Louie pops up into my inbox to distract my attention away from being dumped by Matthew.

Within seconds, I notice that Louie is probably not looking for a relationship. His profile classes him as straight and looking for a woman. What is it with Plenty of Fish and straight men chasing the homos?

Well, Louie was beautiful and willing, so who am I to turn down a chat, gay or not? He started the proceedings.

“Do you want me to wank for you Sir? I’m so horny Daddy. Can I call you Daddy?”

Being an ex-holiday park entertainer, I’m not one to turn down the chance to partake in performing arts.

“Yes, you can call me Daddy. And you better respect me”, I typed sniggering.

“Okay. Tell me what you want me to do Master Daddy.”

In the meantime, I see another supposedly straight man arrive in my inbox. Terry. He wants me to make a video for him. And he’s certainly precise in his direction. Eat your heart out Stephen Spielberg.

“Have your legs over your shoulders with your wet fingers running over your juicy hole.”

Not being an acrobat, I feared I may have problems in obliging. And being a writer, I’m not opposed to engaging in a bit of naughty talk. But I draw the line at dirty videos. You never know when they might come back to bite you on the bum. Pun intended.

This time I took a leaf out of Matthew’s book and made use of the block feature of the app.

And then, just as I was about to give up, my fortunes changed. An ‘actual’ gay man sent me a message. Darren. And he asks for no dirty talk or sexually explicit videos. He engages in purely decent conversation, obviously on a quest to find love.

We spend a few days sending endless messages to each other. It was going so well. We’d even started to arrange a first date.

He happens to ask me what I’m giving up for Lent. I inform him that I’m giving up swearing.

“Is your swearing really that bad?” He asks me.

“I’d be lying if I said the C U Next Tuesday word doesn’t often leave my lips. Back off now if you’re easily offended.”

And then Darren showed me that he’s also capable of making use of the block button. What a C…

Doctor warns: Stop hooking up during Covid-19 lockdown

The medical director at the UK’s leading HIV charity, Terrence Higgins Trust has said people need to stop hooking up during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Doctor Michael Brady, the medical director at THT has warned that people need to stop meeting for sex and look for other ways to “find sexual pleasure in other ways”.

In a post published on the THT website, the Doctor said,

“I’ve never been an advocate of promoting abstinence, but this message is not about protecting your sexual health: it’s about protecting your general health and those around you from a virus that can be deadly. This is extraordinary and unprecedented advice for us to be giving out, but these are extraordinary and unprecedented times.”

    Lockdown and Hooking Up

    (C) BIGSTOCK

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlined new, stricter rules about leaving our homes during the Covid-19 outbreak. These were:

    • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home)
    • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
    • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

With the country under stricter rules surrounding lockdown, Dr Brady says we shouldn’t be having sex with anyone outside our current households.

    He added,

“This advice means that, unless you have sex with someone within your household, it’s important to find sexual pleasure in other ways. Despite the situation with COVID-19, we need to remember that sex is an important part of life, but right now we have to find other ways to achieve sexual pleasure and satisfaction.

    He continued,

“It’s only natural that we look to sex for pleasure, to relieve stress and anxiety or simply to pass the time – whether that’s with a regular partner or using hook-up apps. But our ‘new normal’ is that we have to find ways to do this while sticking to the advice to stay at home. This isn’t just to protect ourselves against the coronavirus but also to protect the most vulnerable in our society.

“You are your safest sexual partner”

Dr Brady finished up by adding that during this time, that instead of seeking sexual contact with other people, take we take matters in our own hands.

    He said,

“I never thought I’d say this but the reality is that, for the time being, you are your safest sexual partner. It’s time to stay at home, stop close contact with people outside our household and to be creative about how we manage our sex lives”.

  • QUICK CAR REVIEW | Ford Ranger Raptor

QUICK CAR REVIEW | Ford Ranger Raptor

    Toughened Up Toy Truck

    Rating: 4 out of 5.

Ford take their Ranger workhorse pick-up and turn the volume to 11 making it into a BIG plaything.

Compared to the standard workday Ranger, the Ranger Raptor really is BIG. The reinforced chassis and body shell make it both imposing and rugged but does that make it massive and unyielding?

One thing to remember is that this is a European Raptor. It’s not the US Raptor which means it is suited to our roads and our unknown roads because it will travel well off-road.

Off-road, its ability to cushion the ruts was astounding. The increases in height and track width playing a great part here. It all became a bit of a disappointment. Shocked by this admission, the man from Ford was intrigued by my statement and keen to find out why. The suspension soaks up the worst of the rough and smooths it like a cheesecake topping spread on a rough crumbly biscuit base.

That capable suspension being made of linkages, coilover springs and Fox suspension systems in place of trusty but non-compliant leaf springs. It all comes together to make for a better than happy medium.

On-road this translates into a comfortable ride with very little road noise from the 30 plus inch wheel and purpose-built tyres with a 20 per cent strengthened sidewall. That said, push the mighty truck into a corner and you soon get complaints from the tyres.

As is typical with a pick-up, the load bed area isn’t integrated with the main shell. This can have a detrimental effect with inertia shaking the rear end, more so when on the road than off-road. Like the main body, the bed is well bolted to the chassis.

What doesn’t work is the engine and the 10-speed automatic gearbox. While the 10 speed is good at keeping the engine on the power band, in standard mode, it keeps it around 2500rpm. The changes are smooth and in some ways it behaves like a typical torque converter system with a bit of slush from the box. It belies the power outputs of the engine.

The engine, being a 2-litre turbo diesel, develops 213PS from a low 1500rpm and the 500Nm of torque is good in almost any situation. Mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, it has a ratio for every situation you are ever likely to encounter.

On the road, it doesn’t quite work out as well as you’d think on paper. Power delivery is smooth but it doesn’t feel as quick as the stated 10 seconds quoted. Overtaking needs to be planned. It doesn’t quite fit in with the promise of power that you’d expect.

I do love a truck so performance of the 0-60 variety isn’t my thing. It’s no Ford F-150 Lightening. What I would be looking at when buying this at almost £50k as tested is its ability to go off-road but also be comfortable on-road and thankfully it does both. So it’s nice to see the inside logical, convenient and comfortable with the fit and finish perhaps a little too good for a workhorse.

Cheap it might not be but then most playthings aren’t these days and that’s sort of what you have here and it’s fabulous. Speaking of playthings, on its launch, computer game Forza launched the Ranger Raptor to the game. Former TGUK motoring journalist, Alan Taylor-Jones proved to be quite the whizz kid. I wasn’t. Thankfully for me, Ford doesn’t test us on computers simulators first before setting us free. If they did I might be writing this from the other side of the cabin on the comfortable passenger’s seat!
