Netflix: Does Brent Corrigan still do porn, how old is he today?

Brent Corrigan is the subject of the film King Cobra, which is now streaming on Netflix.

The biopic, which is now available to stream on Netflix, follows the life and times of Brent Corrigan (who was played by Garrett Clayton) and his rise within the gay porn industry along with the plotting and eventual murder of his studio’s boss, Bryan Kocis. However, when the film was originally released, Brent himself refused to support the film – even going as far as denouncing it on social media, for taking liberties with his life story and for showing the gay porn industry, which Brent is a big supporter of, in a very bad light.

The film directed by Justin Kelly is based on the successful book Cobra Killer written by Andrew E Stoner and Peter A Conway. It centres on the 2007 murder of gay porn producer Bryan Kocis (played in the film by Christian Slater) by two aspiring producers (James Franco as Joe and Keegan Allen as Harlow) who wanted to buy out Corrigan’s performing contract.

This movie ripped straight from the headlines is “based on a true story” of the early career of the biggest gay porn star of the moment, Brent Corrigan. The movie stars Christian Slater (Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves), James Franco (Spiderman), Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club), yes this is one big expensive Hollywood cast and it contains a whole host of man on man gay sex too as we take a peek behind the curtain of the world gay porn industry.

The film which stormed the Toronto Film Festival had its European premiere at the London Film Festival recently before going on full release in Europe and across North America from 21st October. The film has stirred up a lot of controversies as it shows the discovery of Brent Corrigan before two other agents then decide to take charge of his mega career which leads to an infamous murder that shocked the porn industry, remember this is real and true life story.

The controversy has been fanned by Brent himself refusing to support the movie and worse has denounced it on social media as taking liberties with his life story and massively showing the gay porn industry which Brent is a big supporter of in a very bad light.

It is doing great business which you would expect with that A-list Hollywood cast and with the huge interest factor of being the first real mainstream foray into our hugely popular and sleazy gay porn royalty world.

The Idaho-born Brent Corrigan was coerced into the gay porn industry at the earth shatteringly underage of 17-years-old. He immediately won Best Newcomer awards but was denounced from many a porn award stage by the likes of uber-producer Michael Lucas for lying about his age to get work and also the studios that used him knowing he was too underage to have bum sex in any form never mind on film in front of millions of viewers. His boyfriend, who he met when he was 16, got him to do his first gay porn film with Bryan Kocis who was also his scene partner then immediately signed him to a six picture deal and paid him for his first scene with a second hand Vauxhall Jetta car rather than cash.

Kocis’s company was called Cobra Studios and he continued sleeping with the underage Corrigan privately as he had done with other guys as young as 15. Brent soon became unhappy at Cobra.

Writing on his blog in 2007 Brent shared,

“Every scene Bryan has had me shoot with him he insists on making the boys cum in my face. I HATE CUM IN MY FACE. I hate it. Bryan knew I hated it. I don’t care how many people out there think it’s hot, it sucks to do it on set.

“On top of it, I have somewhat of a sensitive skin type. Each time it happens, my face becomes irritated and red after the shoot.

“So basically every time you see a picture with cum on my face, just know that I’m unhappy doing it.

“I’m sure this is why since my falling out with Cobra Video; Bryan has made it a point to put a considerable more amount of pictures out there with cum on my face.”

Brent was ready to work for others and Joe and Harlow two up and coming producers were keen to make a blockbuster film with Corrigan but instead of entering into contract arrangements and sharing the rewards they cack-handedly decided to kill Kocis instead and not just any old murder we are talking decapitation here and 28 stab wounds – remember this is all a true story from the wacky world of gay ass-banging on film.

To see the whole story and what happens next go see the film that is picking up rave reviews and getting in advance of 75% positive ratings from the world’s critics. Brent went on to have the biggest career of recent times and he has a great life working with his number one passion horses in New Mexico so not all porn stars have sad tales. As we speak in October 2016 he has 190,000 followers on twitter which is the highest number of any guy doing either gay or straight porn on planet earth – he is much loved.

During the filming, Brent went on record, writing on his Facebook page, about his involvement,

“The internet has been a buzz regarding some recent news that a movie is being filmed right now in New York State chronicling the Bryan Kocis murder and the early days of my adult career. I was originally approached to be a part of the film as a consultant and the cast. I was asked to play a small part in the film and declined the role. Ultimately, I chose to move forward with my own plans to finally release my book in place of taking part in someone else’s presentation of events that I personally lived as a young adult. Even with the time that has passed, the memories are still very real and raw for me.”

“Yes, I’ll see it. (he added) Likely in the independent theatre with everyone else. I’m stubborn, but still curious. I have very poignant ideas about the screenplay, which was presented to me about 10 days before principle photography was slated to begin in New York. I met with the director and his agent. They were insensitive right out of the gate in our interactions with them. They wanted me to come on board without even considering what dredging all that up was really asking of me.”

    He continued,

“When it was all said and done, I had no dealings with Franco or his people. I chose to stay out of it because it was clear to me they were not trying to make a movie that would serve gay men, the gay adult industry, or any justice with what happened to Bryan, or what I lived through with Grant [Roy]. Grant played an integral part of the investigation, He wore a wire for the feds! I was always just the bait, but Grant was the true hero. These filmmakers couldn’t even write him a part in the movie. They made it seem like I navigated it all alone and even went so far to present their version of me as extorting Bryan. I never did that. I wanted out and away, and I hid behind Grant and the law when push came to shove. I was a kid, not a martyr.”

Brent has loads more to say on his social media so go check it out about the movie and the forthcoming book which we will feature when it is published.

  • Is There Life After Gay Porn?

Is There Life After Gay Porn?

Well in our very casual and unscientific survey we discovered that there is not one single answer. The majority of them just simply disappear back into anonymity and sadly many of them do not physically survive.

Arpad Miklos, Eric Rhodes, Wilfrid Knight and Roman Ragazzi all took their own lives, and in Ragazzi’s case it was after he had been exposed and after lost his job at the Israeli Consulate. Others like Josh Weston lost their lives to complications from HIV. In fact, in 2013, the number of suicides or deaths of those in the gay porn industry under the age of 55 exceeded a dozen, which is more than twice the annual average. Some sadly like Christopher Luke McAteer aka Clay at Corbin Fisher who shot himself are as young as 18- years old.

Also several of them like Bobby Clark, Phenix Saint, and Trevor Knight ‘retire’ very publicly and then are back on our screens before we can say ‘safe sex’. Others do however find a whole new life waiting in their future, and we tracked down a few of them to see how they were coping now they were fully clothed.

Jake Floyd aka Jake Genesis didn’t return to the police force when he retired, he just turned to God instead. However after Joey Santiago had been worshipped as ‘Gustavo Arrango’ he went one better and became a Priest at the House of Prayer Monte Santo in Puerto Rico.

Colton Ford made a sort of successful transition from porn to pop star. He covered Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered with a dance mix that went to be no. 9 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart. Fredrik Elkund aka Tag Eriksson who went from being a successful businessman in his native Sweden to become a top international porn performer, then parlayed that into becoming a top real estate broker and a star of Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Listing NY.

When Shawn Loftis aka Collin O’Neal hung up his jockstrap he became a teacher in Miami before his past was revealed to the authorities, today he has a successful new career as an iReporter for CNN. Kevin Hodge aka Hytch Cawke also became an educator and was the Head of the English Department of a School in Massachusetts until the local FOX TV station publicly exposed his past, which promptly ended his career.

Gay-for-pay Kurt Wild ‘retired’ after his wife gave birth to their fifth child. Now he is a full-time father and he says, without a trace of irony, a wildlife photographer too.

Britain’s own Aiden Shaw dominated gay porn in the ’90s with both his massive personal endowment and his clever novels and memoirs, and then at the age of 47 became a silver-fox high fashion menswear model.

Tom Judson aka Gus Mattox career path is completely unique. Judson was a successful musical theatre actor and performer who transitioned into a porn star when he was in his 40s, which is usually when others are making their exits. He made a big splash for two years picking up a GayVN Performer of the Year before putting his clothes back on for good. He can often be found performing his own one-man musical, Canned Ham in theatres that talks about his life as a naked star.

We did however find several porn stars trying to see what life would be like if they just drop the word ‘porn’ from their job title and turn their hand to acting in more mainstream movies. It’s a big jump from screaming out ‘give it to me big boy!’ to quoting some soliloquy from the Bard so luckily most of them do the crossover in baby steps plumping for roles in movies that won’t stretch their talents too far.

Plus many of them opt for parts that demand they are naked for at least one scene to remind us all what their greatest attributes still look like.

Dylan Vox aka Brad Brenton was one of the stars in the TV series called The Lair which doesn’t totally count as a complete break with the past as it is the story of a gay sex club run by vampires who are into sucking more than just necks of the cast (of mainly porn stars) who have somehow forgotten their clothes along the way. The plots are also as soft as the sex.

Vox fared better in Longhorns a very likeable romantic comedy although it seems like the director must have been worried that the audience may feel that the plot was a little thin in parts, so he had most of the cast proudly dropping their trousers just in case our attention was drooping. Since then however, he has had a steady stream of roles in B-movies from The Asylum Company who specialise in ‘mockbuster movies’. These are films that are released to coincide with those of mega studio epics in order to capitalise on the hubbub surrounding the big-budget movies such as Hercules Reborn that preceded Hercules starring Dwayne Johnson. They may never qualify him for an Oscar but Vox did get one good review ‘he pretty much steals what little thunder there was to steal’ wrote a critic, and it is after all work on the silver screen, and he does get to keep his clothes on.

The heavily inked Frankie Valenti aka multi-award-winning porn performer Johnny Hazzard was another (ex) porn performer who also appeared in The Lair, then went on to put in a surprisingly impressive performance in a lightweight movie called Tiger Orange which is about to be released on VOD. On the strength of this one role film and with his new T-shirt company Valenti wants us, and himself, to completely forget his xxx-rated movies so he declined our invitation to interview him for this article.

Sean Paul Lockhart aka Brent Corrigan aka Fox Ryder has gone one better than his peers and after a brief but intense career as a vivacious porn star, he moved into mainstream movies both in front and behind the camera. True his first ‘legit’ role was in the very questionable Judas Kiss a gay sci-fi movie, which features a plotline where the protagonist had sex with himself. Corrigan did, however, fare better though in a melodramatic gay thriller called Truth, and even with its howler of a script, he turned in a memorable performance. Then in 2013, he directed himself in Triple Crossed a rather inoffensive gay thriller/romance for which he at least deserves an ‘A’ for effort.

François Sagat the rugged French porn star with a tattooed scalp followed bit parts in two mainstream horror movies Saw VI and ‘L.A. Zombie’ with a starring role in Man At Bath, which thanks to Sagat’s wooden performance was probably one of the worst movies we sat through in 2014.

Thankfully for all of us he has subsequently retired to focus on his own clothing line.

  • FILM REVIEW | Triple Crossed

    ★★ | Triple Crossed

After he had finished his posting serving in the military in war-torn Afghanistan during which time he witnessed his best friend being killed, Chris Jensen is struggling to adapt back into civilian life. Unable to find a job, as no one seems prepared to want the services of a somewhat damaged ex-serviceman, he has resorted to living in his car.

Out of the blue, he gets a call from Jackie who wants to offer a job that he would like to turn down. Her recently deceased half-brother has left his controlling share of the family’s multi-million business to his boyfriend Andrew, and she is having none of it. She wants to get his share but doesn’t want to pay a cent for it, but she is however prepared to pay Chris a handsome sum to kill Andrew so she can get her own way.

He is desperate enough to take on the assignment but first he goes to check out his ‘target’ who naturally turns out to be as hot as hell. The two men are soon grappling with each but not quite in the way Jackie had wanted as they are naked and in bed. The question then is to kill or not? Not an easy one to answer as the title of this drama implies everyone has their own agenda, and so we are never sure how this will play out.

What makes this small-budget indie stand out from others of this genre is that it marks the debut of Sean Paul Lockhart; aka ex-porn star Brent Corrigan behind the camera as well as in front for a change. Although it is full of the good intentions the movie does sadly fail to be a thriller in or out of the bedroom even though it does have a gun-toting finale.

Sean doesn’t ever quite manage to convince us that he really did go to war, although he does put in a pretty good performance as a potential new boyfriend for Andrew who seems to have soon forgotten his ex dead one. If you are a fan of Sean aka Brent then you’ll want to see this, but if you are not, then you may just want to wait for a rainy afternoon when you have nothing better to do.
