Lasts night’s episode of X Factor saw over a third of hopefuls axed from the show – even before they had the chance to sing in front of the judges. Despite the huge opportunity, many of the singers gave lack lustre performances, sang off key, forgot words and flaunted some controversial behaviour.

Rylan Clark revealed his brand new make over for the judges, with dyed black hair and hair piece shoulder pads Mr Clark certainly made an impact. All of the remaining contestants were put into groups of two or three and given 24 hours to prepare a song – for sing-offs. Rylan was grouped with Gathan Cheema and Ottavio Columbro and the three gave a diva inspired performance of Aretha Franklin’s Respect. However all was not happy in the RyGaOt grouping as Rylan admitted to Dermot O’Leary

‘We were rowing for most of the night!’

Despite a below average performance from the three, the judges decided to keep all of them for the next round. In typical Rylan fashion he stole the show with his trademark wit and charm.

Another disappointment for the judges was Lucy Spraggan who failed to impress with her version of ‘Moves Like Jagger’

‘It was a little messy – a bit all over the place,’ said Nicole Scherzinger.

‘I accept that I messed that one up’, admitted Lucy.

However the judges gave the ‘Last Night’ singer a second chance and put her through to the next round.
