  • Rose McGowan cancels all further public appearances

    “I have given enough. I have given beauty”

    Actor turned activist, Rose McGowan, has cancelled upcoming public appearances to promote her new book, Brave, following on from what she’s described as a verbal assault, by a trans activist.

    The former Charmed actor then went on to call out her publicists, managers and the audience of the event, for being complicit.

    She then called upon bookseller Barnes and Noble to apologise for the “assault”.

    Earlier this week, a transgender activist, passionately told McGowan, “Trans women are dying, and you said that we, as trans women, are not like regular women.

    “We get raped more often. We go through domestic violence more often.

    “There was a trans woman killed here a few blocks [away]. I have been followed home.”

    McGowan responded civilly at first saying, “So have I. So have I. So have I. We’re the same. My point was: we are the same,

    “There’s an entire show called ID channel, a network, dedicated 24 hours a day to women getting abused, murdered, sexualised and violated, and you are too, sister.

    “It’s the same.”

    However, when the activist responded that McGowan had done “nothing for” trans women and labelled as a cis white feminist, McGowan lost her cool.

    Cancellation

    Taking to Twitter, McGowan, 44, wrote, “I am canceling upcoming public appearances because I have given enough. I have given beauty, in return I was VERBALLY ASSAULTED for two full minutes by an actor paid to verbally assault a woman who has been terrorized by your system. And no ONE in that room did anything

    “And everyone from my publicists, t assistants, managers and every person sitting in their chairs frozen by their weakness, a weakness called COMPLICITY. The truth is you all failed me. Again. And again. And again.

    “I would like an apology from the manager of the Union Square and all security people, and the audience, who did nothing and let the paid verbal assault of an assaulted woman happen. Cool?”

     

  • Courtney Act wins Celebrity Big Bro, Year of the Woman

    After 32 days and for the final time, Emma Willis addressed the Celebrity Big Brother house and announced live that this series’ winner, who received the most votes was Courtney Act and Ann Widdecombe as runner-up.

    CBB’s champion left the house to cheers from the crowd, greeted by Emma.

    Courtney confirmed, “This is just amazing! Thank you! Thank you to the eight glorious women who were in the house and to all of my other housemates. Those people made it possible, those experiences we had…this is so surreal right now. It’s amazing to think the public have chosen me, I guess it’s validation. I guess this is validation that it’s OK to be different.”

    Shane J / Courtney added, “You forget about the people watching at home and making their own opinions on the conversations…I guess they liked the conversations!”

    On Andrew, “Had a crush on him! He’s just so comfortable about everyone and everything, just knowing who he is. I love that and respect that about him. I do respect his boundaries. It’s fun to flirt!”

    Courtney confirmed the wardrobe malfunction on launch “wasn’t planned”.

    Rose McGowan lost her cool after a trans advocate questioned the actor about her stance on transgender issues. A video has emerged showing the 44-year-old screaming at a transgender activist after being asked about comments she made on RuPaul’s podcast What’s The Tee in July last year.

    On the show, McGowan questioned whether trans women really knew what was it was like to grow up female.

    At the Manhattan event, the activist passionately told McGowan, “Trans women are dying, and you said that we, as trans women, are not like regular women.

    “We get raped more often. We go through domestic violence more often.

    “There was a trans woman killed here a few blocks [away]. I have been followed home.”

  • Many LGBT+ people hit out over plans to raise rainbow flags in doctors’ surgeries

    After it announced that there are plans to bring the rainbow flag to doctor surgeries, many in the LGBT+ community slammed the idea, calling for more focus on what really matters – saving people.

    The British Journal of General Practice released guidelines on how to make surgery waiting rooms more visually inclusive by adding rainbow flags or LGBT+ posters. The news was met with a mixed reaction, however many suggested that the move was a waste of money when resources should be spent on actually helping patients.

    The aimed of displaying the rainbow flag is to encourage many in the LGBT+ community feel more comfortable talking to their doctor about their health.

    The move comes just short of a year when it was announced that GPs are to start asking about patients’ sexuality, regardless of whether it is pertinent to the reason for their visit.

    THEGAYUK.com asked readers their thoughts on the proposal and the reaction was overwhelmingly negative.

    One user, Jane, spoke about how she had been stuck on a waiting list for a GIC (Gender Identity Clinic) for over a year, whilst others suggested that the long waiting lists for the specialised clinic could endanger the lives of transgender people. Adam on Twitter slammed the idea saying “Doctors can legally refuse me treatment because I’m trans but your big solution to ending discrimination is some fabric”.

    Daniel Browne, the chairman of Warwickshire Pride said that more literature was needed in the UK’s surgeries. Browne told us, “I do think that LGBT+ literature is required. All GP surgery staff should have LGBT+ awareness training too. Little changes can make a massive difference.”

    Does Will I Am have a partner? Or is he married?

    With The Voice UK starting up again, the questions surrounding the star’s love life have started to emerge and people are interested to know if will i am is married or not.

    Will.i.am is extraordinarily private about his love life and has complained that he’s too busy with work to find love. So it’s difficult to determine his sexuality or whether he is in a relationship with anyone.

    What we do know is, is that Will I Am is very pro-LGBT. He has spoken up for gay rights in the past. He was pro-gay marriage saying, “People should be able to marry and be with who they want, and let’s focus on the real issues… which are education, health and the things that kill people.”

    He once released a song which included lyrics about same-sex love. He said, “That song is for all types of people… People have been showing love.”

    So is he married? No will is not married.

    What does cottaging mean?

    Cottaging is a slang term for sex between, usually, two men in a public space, typically a public toilet. Before same-sex sexual relationships became legal men, who were bisexual or gay had few options on where to have sexual liaisons so would have sex in discreet places, where they wouldn’t be caught. The term dates back to Victorian times when “cottage” referred to a small house or public house.

    In the 20th century, public toilets in the UK sometimes took the look of a small cottage, sometimes with a thatched roof.

    The sex between men who would frequent a cottage would usually be anonymous. Gloryholes, a hole drilled between stalls in public toilets became a way in which this sex could remain faceless.

    Before the rise of gay bars and before homosexuality was legal in the UK, cottages were a way for gay and bisexual men to meet other men.

    There are thousands of gay cruising grounds and cottages across the UK and still remain popular to this day.

    Cottaging, the act of having sex in a public toilet, is illegal in the United Kingdom under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, and applies to both heterosexual and homosexual acts.

    Is cottaging or gay cruising illegal?

    The Sexual Offences Act 2003 doesn’t say however that sex in a public place is illegal. Cruising grounds and cottaging are two different spaces. Cruising grounds are defined as open spaces, where men can hook up with men, or straight couples can meet for sex (often referred to as dogging), as long as no members of the public can see you.

  • Here’s what you should know if you’re planning to have anal sex (and have piles)

    You can have sex if you have piles… but go carefully.

    Suffering from piles when you’re a bottom or even a power bottom could spell disaster for your sex life. The fact is that piles or haemorrhoids are a fact of life for many people.

    Piles are caused by swollen veins in the anus. They can be caused by straining when going to the toilet (number two), mainly during constipation, and many people don’t even know they have them – because they can occur inside your rectum – where you can’t see them.

    When they come out your bottom, that’s when they can become a bit of a problem.

    But before we go on, let’s clear one thing up, they aren’t caused by having anal sex.

    Jose Perez de la Cruz, a Public Health Practitioner at the Terrence Higgins Trust told us, “anal sex has the potential to inflame pre-existing haemorrhoids (piles), though research shows that it does not cause them in the first place. So long as the piles are not actively bleeding or painful at the time of intercourse then it is probably safe to have sex”.

    So should you take a break from anal sex if you’ve actively got piles going on? Jose continues, “I would recommend using Preparation H (under a fiver) or Germoloids (over a fiver) to help control pain and inflammation and to reduce swelling. During sex, it is also important that you use a good water-based lubricant, particularly during acts of multiple people or high-frequency sexual activity as this will reduce the chance of any inflammation being caused.”

    He also suggests that they are unlikely to burst during sex, but suggests if the piles don’t clear up after a while that you book an appointment with your doctor to talk options.

    Some people are questioning the silky smooth skin of Russia’s number 1.

    Along with the horsey riding, the random topless moments – showing off his bulging biceps and the ice cold water dips it’s clear that the man looks after his body.

    Now, the 65-year-old President Vladimir Putin has got people questioning whether he’s had some “work” done on his face.

    One user on DataLouge commented on how it looks as though he’s had injectables and fillers in his face. They also questioned whether the premier had a more feminised appearance.
