  • RIP Jackie Collins, Dies From Breast Cancer Aged 77

    The author Jackie Collins has died at the age of 77 from breast cancer in Los Angeles.

    The family of Jackie Collins have confirmed that best selling author Jackie Collins has died from breast cancer at the age of 77.

    A statement released by the family said,

    “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one-of-a-kind mother,”

    “She was a true inspiration, a trailblazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words,”

    In her lifetime Collins is credited with selling over 500 million books. At the time of her death Collins had penned 32 novels and had largely defined the “bonkbuster” genre.

    Her sister, Joan Collins told People Magazine in the US that she was devastated by the news.

    “She was my best friend. I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her,”

    Jackie Collins has long been a strong advocate for the LGBT community. In an interview with Out magazine she revealed that as a teenager she had crush on a boy called Peter, who later committed suicide. She said,

    “When I was 15 and thrown out of school, I went to a drama school, a preparatory academy in England, and there was this lovely guy there called Peter,” she says. “He was my first gay crush, really, and we got along like a house on fire — and one day he committed suicide. And that made me think really deeply about the problems that some poor guys go through when they want to come out.

    “I’ll never forget Peter,” she says. “He was so good-looking; he had curly hair, and he was tall and lovely. He just couldn’t come out, and then he killed himself. He must have been about 17, maybe.

    Right from the beginning of her writing career Collins had introduced gay characters. She said,

    “I’ve written 29 books, and I’ve always had gay characters, right from the very beginning

    “Sometimes they might be a little clichéd, and sometimes not.”

    She leaves behind three children.

    It had looked as though life for the LGBT community was about to be acknowledged in a meaningful way when Sir Elton John announced that President Putin was ready to talk about gay rights in Russia, however it turned out to be a hoax.

    It had seemed that the Rocket Man singer had managed the impossible when he told the media that he had in fact spoken to Putin and been invited to Moscow to talk about gay rights in Russia. It soon emerged that Sir Elton had been talking with a prankster.

    Here we have the audio of the English part of a prank phone call between Elton John and Vovan and Lexus the Russian comedians who pretended to be President Putin.

    Last night in an interview on Russia Today Vovan and Lexus revealed it was actually them saying,

    “We gave Elton what he wanted”.

    The phone call itself did not outwardly mock Sir Elton, though towards the end did invite the popstar to Gay Pride in Moscow which has been banned in the country for years.

    The Russian President was responsible for signing in an anti-gay law that forbids the “propaganda” of non-traditional relationships to anyone under the age of 18. Same-sex relationships are considered non-traditional in Russia.

    Speaking to Russian news agency TASS, Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s press secretary said,

    “We are aware [of John’s intention to have a meeting] from media reports, but we haven’t received any signals directly from Sir Elton John.

    “Given that there have been many insinuations in the media lately, we are treating information of that kind carefully.”

    In a curious twist, President Putin’s press secretary has denied Elton John’s revelation that the pair are to meet to discuss LGBT rights in Russia.

    Legendary rock veteran Sir Elton had announced thatPresident Putin had agreed to meet to discuss the state of LGBT rights in Russia. However, the president’s press secretary has denied that Russia’s number one is to meet with the Rocket Man singer.

    The Russian President was responsible for signing in an anti-gay law that forbids the “propaganda” of non-traditional relationships to anyone under the age of 18. Same-sex relationships are considered non-traditional in Russia.

  • LGBT Ally Katy Perry To Play Dubai, Where Homosexuality Could Land You 10 Years In Jail

    Katy Perry is set to open the world’s largest stage, in Dubai, where homosexuality could land you 10 years in prison or deportation.

    The LGBT ally, who has often spoken proactively for LGBT rights has been signed to play an exclusive, invite-only performance at Dubai Airport, which is set to be the world’s biggest stage. She is to be joined by Britain’s Got Talent’s Jack Pack.Homosexuality in the United Arab Emirates is illegal and where Sharia Law is applied could land a person found guilty of homosexual acts the death penalty. Punishment for sodomy in Dubai could land a man 10 years in prison.

    Katy Perry who has in the past been an outspoken advocate for gay rights even confronting former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott on his stance on same-sex marriage.

    When same-sex marriage became legal in the US earlier this year, Perry tweeted,

    “Really encouraged to be an American today… Love should live beyond labels & intolerance! #LoveWins #EqualityForAll”

    According to a press release by Dubai International Airport,

    “Katy Perry will play an exclusive, invitation-only performance at the annual Dubai Airshow 2015 Gala Dinner, hosted by Dubai Airports, Emirates airline and Dubai Duty Free. Her set will include huge international hits like Firework, I Kissed A Girl and Roar.”

    In 2012 a British man was sentenced to three years in prison after being found having sex with another man and two Indian nationals were also imprisoned and deported. A Belgium man was also punished after admitting he was in a relationship with another man after his partner died after falling from a window.

  • President Putin Agrees To Meet With Elton To Discuss Gay Rights

    President Putin has agreed to meet with rock legend Sir Elton John to discuss his nation’s legacy on gay rights.

    Legendary rock veteran Sir Elton has asked President Putin for a debate on gay rights. The Russian President was responsible for signing in an anti-gay law that forbids the “propaganda” of non-traditional relationships to anyone under the age of 18. Same-sex relationships are considered non-traditional in Russia.

    According to Elton, the president reached out to him after he branded his attitude to gay rights as “ridiculous.”

    Putin apparently rang Elton yesterday to accept his invitation to discuss the deplorable conditions that gay people across Russia are finding themselves.

    Since the introduction of the anti-gay law, attacks on the LGBT community have been numerous and there has been more than one alleged murder that has rocked the community in Russia.

    The news of the meeting come as Putin gives a Russian State Honour to the vehemently anti-gay politician Vitaly Milonov, who was instrumental in bringing about the “gay propaganda” law. The Russian State Honour is the highest award that can be given to a civilian.

    Vitaly Milonov has gone on record to call the Eurovision song content a “sodom show” and he branded Stephen Fry as sick over his suicide attempts in 2012.

  • Nearly Half Of Men Find Wearing Condoms Uncomfortable

    A new survey of nearly 500 men has found that nearly half of them find wearing condoms uncomfortable because of sizing issues.

    A survey which asked 466 men about their condom habits found, worryingly, that nearly half (44.42 %) of men found wearing a condom uncomfortable and despite this discomfort had not try condoms of a different size. Sixty Nine per cent had never experimented with a different sized condom.

    Speaking about the survey results Cary James, Terrence Higgins Trust, Head of Health Promotion, said:

    “The results suggest that most guys probably spend more time thinking about their wardrobe than their condom choice – but the right condom fit will feel much better than any pair of jeans. Using the right condom not only increases pleasure, but also reduces the chance of it breaking or slipping off during sex.

    “The days of condoms being one size fits all are well and truly behind us, and we want everyone to feel the difference using the right condom can make. The ‘Fits Me’ tool not only helps people find the right condom but also gives them the change try those condoms either for free or at a discounted price.”

    4) This news site based in the deeply homophobic country of Nigeria suggests women could and should strap on a dildo and screw their men. Unsurprisingly the men in the poll aren’t so sure.

    5) Jeremy Corbyn, who has voted pro gay issues since his induction as an MP, has been voted in as the new Labour leader.

    Jeremy Corbyn has been voted in as the new leader of Labour in a landslide election result.

    Jeremy Corbyn has been voted in as the new leader of the Labour party. Mr. Corbyn is an MP who has, according to theyworkforyou.com “consistently” voted for equal gay rights dating back to 1998 when he voted pro on lowering the age of consent to match heterosexuals.

    He got 59% of first preference votes (251,417 votes) – which was 40% more than Mr Burnham who was his nearest rival at 19%. Ms. Cooper was third on 17% and Ms. Kendal coming in with only 4.5% of the vote.

    Jeremy Corbyn beat Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall to the top, after the leadership contest was sparked due to Ed Miliband’s departure following a crushing defeat in the general elections. Tom Watson has been elected the new deputy Labour leader.

    According to the BBC 422,664 votes were cast.

    The MP for Islington North secured 59.5% of the vote in a landslide election, which sees the left-winger politician become the new leader of labour.

  • Harvey Fierstein Backs Southwark Show Casa Valentina

    Harvey Fierstein, the theatre genius who brought us Torch Song Trilogy and La Cage aux Folles, is the man behind two productions opening concurrently in London.

    Kinky Boots, a musical version of the 2005 film, (which everyone’s heard about and dying to see) opens next week at the Adelphi Theatre. And his other new show, Casa Valentina, is at the Southwark Playhouse with previews beginning Sept. 10th. And like Kinky, Casa Valentina comes direct from Broadway where it was nominated for four Tony Awards.

    It’s a story about the lives of several men who escape their humdrum Manhattan lives (and summer heat) and head on the weekends to the Catskill mountains. Not only are they escaping the summer heat, they are also escaping from their lives.

    You see, these men like to dress as women. And in Casa Valentina, they leave their family and friends behind and become their inner selves. And in this first look at the production, we see some of the cast getting transformed into their costumes.
