With just days until their tour is set to begin the Spice Girls have unveiled what their staging looks like. They also released some pictures of them in rehersal.

The band are joined in rehearsals with their own ‘House’ of dancers. Each house is made up of five dancers dressed in their correlating house colours – ‘House of Baby’, ‘House of Sporty’, ‘House of Ginger’ and ‘House of Scary’. The dancers were unveiled on Instagram and picked from 5000 applicants from across the world. The dancers are choreographed by Paul Roberts.

However the most impressive sight has to be the staging.

The graphics for the tour are designed by Kate Moross who has also designed the band’s 90’s inspired new merchandise as seen on Melanie C (in the photo)

  • Spice Girls smash Ticketmaster’s ticketing record

Spice Girls smash Ticketmaster’s ticketing record

The cheeky foursome has had to add FIVE dates to their UK stadium tour.

At one point there was 700,000 on hold in a queue waiting for tickets.

With tickets going on sale on Saturday morning for the Spice Girls 2019 UK stadium tour, five additional dates were added in quick succession, with Ticketmaster’s MD Andrew Parsons going on to say “Demand for Spice Girls was off the chart. They have smashed through Ticketmaster UK’s records becoming the busiest ever sale. There were millions of people on our site searching for tickets, with a queue at one point of well over 700,000…

from what we saw, they could have played nearly every night for a year.”

  • Spice Girls Christmas hit re-imagined as a safe sex same-sex single

Spice Girls Christmas hit re-imagined as a safe sex same-sex single

And this genius uses a condom as the drums.

So the 16th December marks 20 years since the iconic Spice Girls ballad “2 Become 1” became a Christmas number 1. Well, now musician K Anderson has re-imagined the song as a love song between two men and used a condom as the drums.

To celebrate this anniversary, singer-songwriter K Anderson has recorded an acoustic cover, changing the song’s lyrics to ‘boys and boys feel good together’.

    The singer said,

“I always wanted to be in a girl band, and there is no finer than the Spice Girls! And, since one of the song’s messages is about the importance of safe sex, I thought it would be fun to use condoms as my percussion in the track (and they weren’t getting much use in my bedside drawer)”.

    Amazing.

Spice Girls To Go Ahead With Tour With Or Without Posh

The Spice Girls have been planning a tour to celebrate 20 years since their first hit, Wannabe.

The show will go on with or without Victoria Beckham who seems to be the only hold out to seeing the world famous five some, and world’s most successful girl group of all time,  reunite for the first time since the London Olympic Games in 2012.

However there have been some rumours that Posh might be involved, but hopes for her to actually sing and dance in the tour are reportedly off the table.

There has been a bit of flip-flopping on whether the fashion designer would be involved with rumours first pointing towards the notion that she would join her former band mates, however, her reps were quick to dowse those rumours, saying it wasn’t happening.

Initially it was suggested that Victoria might be involved on the condition that she was able to keep her focus on her family and her fashion empire.

However the fashion icon’s reps refuted the rumours.

However now sources are confirming that Victoria may put in an appearance “here and there” although dancing and singing was strictly off the table at this point.

    An insider told Us Weekly:

‘[Victoria] won’t sing or dance. There’s a small chance she’ll film something with them or make an appearance at a show here and there.’

However even if the 41-year-old designer doesn’t join the rest of the Spice Girls the insider told the magazine:

‘If [Victoria] doesn’t agree, they are moving ahead without her,’ another source told the magazine.

Recently Hannah Spearritt from S Club Seven told THEGAYUK that she would be up for a reunion tour with the rest of her bandmates when the group hits its 20th anniversary in 2019.

  • It Is All Over: Spice Reunion Not Happening

It was like a dream come true and now all hopes abandoned, dreams are shattered and tour promoters are hanging their heads.

At the beginning of the week it was looking like a sure thing, that Posh would re-join the Spice Girls for a 20th-anniversary tour, but her reps have now denied any rumour that she is to take part.
Ok Magazine has been the ones to bring us the news that Torz will not be joining them. Reps for the now fashion designer told the magazine
“She is not – no – just the usual, made up, nonsense!!”

Earlier reports suggested that Victoria would do the tour, on one condition, that she could spend time with David and the kids.

  • Spice Girls Will Get Back Together Under One Condition

Spice Girls Will Get Back Together Under One Condition

It seems crazy that the Spice Girls will celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. They could be getting back together for a tour, but Victoria Beckham has one condition.

Back in 1996 Ginger, Scary, Baby, Sporty and Posh burst onto the music scene with their brash look, bottom pinching and catchy pop tunes. (Who Do You Think You Are, is our fave)

Twenty years on, their fanbase (us included) are howling for a reunion and not of an ITV2 Big Reunion type.

Speaking to The Mirror a source close to Victoria Beckham said that she’d be up for doing some shows with the girls, but probably not all, wanting to put David and her kids first.

    The source said,

“However she stressed she needed to focus on David and the kids this year after a stressful 2015 of trying to juggle work and family life, so committing to all the dates would be too much.

“She already has a lot on her plate with her design empire.”

So she may only do London dates… Will you travel to London to see their shows?

  • RIP | Viva Forever to close in June

West End Musical Viva Forever is set to close at the end of June

In a statement from the producers of Viva Forever:

Producer Judy Craymer announced that VIVA FOREVER! the new musical, inspired by the songs of the Spice Girls, has posted closing notice at the Piccadilly Theatre for 29 June, 2013. Anyone wanting to join in the fun is urged to book tickets now and get down to the Piccadilly Theatre in the next eight weeks for a fabulous, feel-good night out.

In a press statement issued this morning, Ms CRAYMER, said

“It is with a heavy heart that we’ve had to make this very difficult decision to post closing notices for this original show which is blessed with one of the most brilliant casts currently on the West End stage. We set out to create a contemporary story that truly reflects our time; to take a satirical look at the underbelly of a TV Talent show and the chaos that ensues for a mother, her daughter and their friends, a theatrical event to embrace all generations both on and off the stage. Testament to that achievement is the standing ovation at every performance from an audience of families and friends all enjoying a great night out. The show has evolved since we first opened and is now brighter, lighter and funnier, but despite the wonderful audiences and extremely positive feedback we just can’t make it work. I’m so proud of everyone involved in this production. VIVA FOREVER! may be taking it’s leave for now in the West End but the legacy of Spice Girls will never fade.”

    Writer Jennifer Saunders added:

“It is disappointing the show is to close. I am particularly sad for the cast and crew that have worked so hard to produce a wonderful show.”

    The Spice Girls said

“We want to thank the cast and all the fans for their support, and although Viva Forever won’t continue in the West End we are thrilled that the thousands of people who came to the show had as much fun as we did.”

VIVA FOREVER! is a feel-good musical comedy with a book by Jennifer Saunders inspired by the music of the SPICE GIRLS. Charting the trials and tribulations of wannabe girlband Eternity, the musical tells an original story as it hurls the audience headfirst into the final rounds of TV talent show Starmaker, where a panel of fame vultures passes judgment on our wannabe heroines while desperately clinging to the limelight themselves.

VIVA FOREVER! is directed by Paul Garrington and choreographed by Lynne Page. The production is designed by Peter McKintosh, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Bobby Aitken and musical orchestration by Martin Koch.

VIVA FOREVER! is produced by Judy Craymer in association with the Spice Girls, Simon Fuller and Universal Music.

Tickets for VIVA FOREVER! are available until 29 June 2013

  • LGBT Stars And Allies Help Close The Olympics

In a show to end all shows the London 2012 Olympics came to a triumphant conclusion yesterday at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, London.

The televised event was seen by an estimated 1 billion people across the globe and a crowd of over 80,000 in the stadium.

In an extraordinary show of British talent the Closing Ceremony hosted some of the finest talents of the UK music and fashion scenes both past and present as the cast of thousands was joined by George Michael, The Spice Girls, Annie Lennox, Jessie J, Pet Shop Boys, and controversially Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, causing an immediate Twitter backlash.

The Daily Mail reported that Piers Morgan wrote on twitter: ‘I suspect Kate Moss might fail her drugs test later’, in reference to her alleged drug abuse and Jojo Mayes wrote: ‘Naomi Campbell: gold medal in phone throwing’, while Charles Arthur wrote: ‘Kate Moss! Who represents the Olympic ideals of not doing drugs, or smoking, and achieving lots. Work with me here.’

Campbell and Moss weren’t the only stars to feel the wrath of the Twitter audience as thousands of users used the service to Tweet their frustrations of Emeli Sandé’s double appearance in the show.

The show had moments of sheer joy, eccentricity and contemplativeness, in what turned out to be a show to rival that of the Opening Ceremony in July at the beginning of the Olympic games.

George Michael wowed the audience with a two song set of arguably one of his greatest hits ‘Freedom’, and his forthcoming single ‘White Light.‘ He looked trim and healthy wearing an all black ensemble complete with trademark sunglasses and leather jacket.

Annie Lennox a long time campaigner for LGBT rights sang in great voice for her moment in the spotlight. The singer sang her hit ‘Little Bird’ whilst surrounded by pirates and was brought on to the stage in a giant skeletal ship.

However it was the reformation of The Spice Girls that really lifted proceedings, producing an incredible buzz on social networks across the globe. As five brightly lit London taxis parked centre stage, the crowd roared almost uncontrollably as Ginger, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Posh alighted to sing two of their biggest hits: ‘Wannabe’ and ‘Spice Up Your Life’. Their appearance at the show set a new record of 116,000 Tweets per minute on Twitter. Even London Mayor Boris Johnston couldn’t resist a boogie to the sounds of 90’s ‘Girl Power’.

Jessie J was featured heavily in the proceedings having sung her own hit ‘Price Tag’ and then joining Brian May on the main-stage to sing the iconic ‘We Will Rock You’. A poignant moment in the show however was when the 80,000 strong crowd echoed Freddie Mercury in a video installment in the middle of the stage.

The Pet Shop Boys also enjoyed their moment in the spotlight, appearing in orange chariots, singing ‘West End Girls’.

The closing ceremonies brought an end to a record breaking games for Team GB having secured 29 Gold medals, 17 Silver and 19 Bronze to make a total of 65. Team GB came 3rd in the Olympic leader-board, with China in second place and the USA in poll position.
