    Sam Strike Quits EastEnders

    Sad news, sad news, Sam Strike, the man behind the Square’s only out gay male character is to quit the soap after just one year in the role.

    Known to all EastEnders‘ fans as Johnny Carter, Sam Strike has decided to break from the show saying,

    ‘Thanks for all the love this year guys. Means the world. Decided to bow out. Couldn’t have done it without you all. Thanks @bbceastenders.’

    ‘And of course tremendous love to my Carter family. True love.’

    In January Sam Strike and Danny Dyer made headlines after their emotional scene together, with Johnny Carter coming out in one of EastEnder’s most memorable gay moments and Danny Dyer telling bigots where they could stick their opinions.

    It’s not known exactly when Strike will leave the soap, but suggestions are that he’ll be out by 2015.

    Next week Johnny’s storyline sees him sharing a sneaky romance with Ben Mitchell, however the day ends up with a good old fashion brawl – so we’ll have to see if Sam does get his guy.

  • EastEnders: Explosive Story Between Ben And Johnny Carter

    It’s all hotting up between Johnny Carter and Ben Mitchell after Ben tries to sneak a kiss.

    But it doesn’t seem all ends well for the pair who have been flirting in an awkward off and on again away. Earlier at a Halloween party, Ben (Harry Reid) told Johnny that he wasn’t gay, but perhaps he’s not quite sure…

    The pair seen are sitting quietly on the stairs and Ben tries to steal a little kiss from Johnny, however, Ben becomes aware that the pair are being watched by Abi and they make up a story for their actions.

    However explosive action takes place later on as Ben insults Johnny at Lee’s 22nd birthday at The Albert, which leads to a fight between Lee Carter (Danny-Boy Latchard) who defends his brother, using fists first. The on-street brawl leaves Ben bloody and shaken.

    Abi leads Ben back to her house, but not before telling Johnny to stay well clear of Ben.

    Episode airs 18th November 2014 on BBC1

  • Is love in the air for Johnny Carter?

    Things look to be hotting up between Johnny Carter and Ben on Eastenders – but Ben has something to tell Johnny.

    Oh we want this to happen – quite badly, but it looks as though Johnny (Sam Strike) is going to get the ‘I’m not gay’ treatment from Ben (Harry Reid) this week on Eastenders.

    The pair have been getting close but during a Halloween party at the Queen Vic Johnny and Ben have a moment, and a furious Ben tells Johnny in no uncertain terms that he isn’t one of the boys.

    So our Johnny may have to wait just a little longer for love.

    As these new pictures prove, Johnny Carter (Sam Strike) his getting fresh with a new guy he met at Pride!.

    Having spent the Gay Pride celebrations with Gianluca (played by GABRIELE LOMBARDO)and fallen for him, Johnny introduces him to his family at Linda’s birthday party. Before Gianluca returns to Italy, they share a passionate kiss at the station, but with Johnny be able to let him go?

    n December 2013, Johnny Carter had his first on screen kiss with Gary Lucy. Many anti-gay tweets were leveled at the production team of EastEnders and the actor Sam Strike. However Danny Dyer, who plays Strike’s on screen father, Mick had the perfect solution for them.

    Johnny Carter is the first openly gay character on EastEnders since Christian Clarke and Syed Masood, the first gay character was Colin Russell, played by Michael Cashman.

    A Walford insider said, ‘It soon becomes clear that Johnny (played by Sam Strike) met someone at gay pride and they really hit it off. He’s got a love bite on his neck and a phone that won’t stop buzzing with text messages – it seems some is smitten!’

    However it seems he is trying desperately to cover his tracks from his mum Linda, who has yet to fully come to terms with Johnny’s sexuality.

    Johnny Carter came out at the end of last year, which resulted in one of the most talked about gay moments of TV when he told his father Mick Carter (Danny Dyer)

  • EASTENDERS | Johnny Carter is coming out

    BBC 1 will air an emotional scene tonight where Sam Strike’s character Johnny Carter comes out to his father.

     

    After hiding the truth from his family for so long, Johnny finally breaks down in his father’s arms and admits that he is gay.

    A touching moment this evening when Mick talks to his son Johnny about being gay.

    EastEnders continues tonight at 8:00PM on BBC1

    Earlier in the week we reported that numerous homophobic tweets had been sent after Gary Lucy and Sam Strike kissed for the first time on the Soap.

    Pete Lawson who wrote the episode on Monday said on Twitter: “2014, and gay teens kissing on a soap still draws complaints. Makes me even prouder to have written that ep.”
