  • Kevin Spacey cleared of all sexual assault charges

Kevin Spacey cleared of all sexual assault charges

Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey couldn’t hold back his tears as he was acquitted of all charges in his sexual assault trial in London. The jurors at Southwark Crown Court returned not guilty verdicts for nine sexual offence charges involving four men from incidents spanning between 2001 and 2013. The deliberations took more than 12 hours, and Mr. Spacey expressed gratitude to the jury for their thorough examination of the evidence.

Outside the court, the Oscar winner humbly spoke about his feelings after the verdict, acknowledging that there was a lot for him to process. He thanked the jury for their careful consideration of all the facts and evidence before reaching their decision. The actor also expressed his appreciation to the courthouse staff and security for their support during the trial.

During the emotional moment when the verdict was read, Mr. Spacey placed his hand on his chest and mouthed “thank you” twice to the jurors as they left the room. The trial involved seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent, all of which he was acquitted of.

During the trial, the jurors firmly rejected the prosecution’s claims against Mr. Spacey. The allegations included accusations that he had “aggressively” grabbed three men by the crotch and performed a sexual act on another man while he was asleep in his flat. However, the jury did not find sufficient evidence to support these claims.

The prosecutors had argued that Mr. Spacey’s actions left the four complainants feeling “small, diminished, and worthless.” But the jurors carefully considered the evidence presented and ultimately did not find the allegations convincing.

Throughout the trial, Mr. Spacey vehemently denied all charges, describing the accusations against him as “weak,” “madness,” and a “stab in the back.” His 64th birthday fell during the course of the proceedings. The actor maintained his innocence, and the jury’s verdict cleared him of all the sexual assault charges brought against him.

By law, all complainants are entitled to life-long anonymity.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) expressed its respect for the jury’s decision regarding the case. In a statement, a spokesperson emphasized that the role of the CPS is not to determine a person’s guilt in a criminal offence.

Instead, their responsibility is to conduct fair, independent, and objective assessments to determine whether charges should be brought forward.

The trial, which lasted nearly four weeks, featured the testimonies of multiple witnesses, including Mr. Spacey himself. Throughout the proceedings, the jury carefully considered the evidence presented before reaching their verdict. The outcome of the trial concluded with the actor being cleared of all charges, highlighting the importance of a thorough and impartial legal process.

  • How did House Of Cards kill off Frank Underwood?

How did House Of Cards kill off Frank Underwood?

Arguably one of Kevin Spacey’s most famous roles, Frank Underwood has been effectively killed off on the Netflix hit, House Of Cards, but how did they write him out?

How did House Of Cards kill off Frank Underwood?
    House Of Cards

Disgraced actor, Kevin Spacey has left House Of Cards and along his department goes the ultimate anti-hero, Frank Underwood. It’s impossible to think that the show could continue without the conniving, backstabbing, pure genius evil that was President Underwood, but the writers of one Netflix’s most important shows, House Of Cards have come up with a story.

Now the production team at House Of Cards have remained tight-lipped about the demise of Frank Underwood, so we won’t be able to reveal how they managed to write out the character, but come the 2nd of November all will be revealed.

However, at the end of Season 5, Frank Underwood suddenly resigns with Claire Underwood being sworn in as the new President, and she is extremely peed with Frank for not running his resignation through her. What’s more, Frank needs to be pardoned by the new President for crimes committed during his premiership, but Claire is not answering her phone.

The last scene focusing on Claire Underwood who has become the new President, saying rather chillingly, “My turn”.

So what happens to Frank? Is he killed off, is he written out, what’s the cause of his demise? We’ll have to wait until the 2nd November 2018, when the new series lands on Netflix.

  • COMMENT | Dame Judi’s comments are a breath of fresh air

Let he or she who hath not sinned cast the first stone

    SBuckley-Depositphotos

What a refreshing breath of fresh air are the comments made by Dame Judi Dench at a Spanish Film Festival in relation to Kevin Spacey. It’s about time common sense prevailed and it is a shame it takes an old lady of theatre now 83, to show some realism.

We seem to be in an age of pious self-righteousness. I have long been sick of the hashtag MeToo# or however it appears. Don’t do twitter!

Kevin Spacey, the same as many others with a tarnished reputation, has worked on and contributed to our entertainment a vast amount of work, in all of which they play characters and not themselves.

What would I like to see? Those convicted lose the right to repeat fees. The fees should be signed over for a period or forever depending on the severity and number of crimes to a charity engaged in work in the treatment of their victims or others of similar crimes. In that way the general public can still enjoy the characters they have created with a clear conscience in the knowledge repeat fees are going to help others.

There has been a trend of outing big names. Always worrying when so many of those who come forward seem to derive publicity they would otherwise be unable to muster, in the absence of allegation.

In writing this I have come to realise what I thought at the outset of allegations last year was a good thing may have been exploited by some who are wannabe victims for their own end.

In many ways, it is the path of the predator to have trust, authority or image that is coveted by the vulnerable. It is a minority who are swayed by their own desire to abuse and hopefully it is a similar or lesser number of the vulnerable who exploit easy targets.

Whether gay or straight or any other designation there will always be predators and victims. It may not always be clear which is which. What I could do better is not to judge from my armchair.

We’re going to say it’s a no from us, but it’s forging ahead and in the movie, he’s playing a super rich gay con man. Billionaire Boys Club is set in the 1980s and is based on a true story about young men, who happen to be rich AF, getting caught up in a Ponzi scheme, which actually sounds like a good film – sort of a Wolf Of Wall Street thing… but yeah, but no.

The film was actually started in December 2015, well before the allegations of sexual misconduct were levelled against the actor by Star Trek Discovery actor Anthony Rapp. The film officially wrapped in early 2016.

It will now be released in August.

  • Here’s why Anthony Rapp exposed Kevin Spacey’s alleged behaviour

The Star Trek actor out spoke out in late 2017 about Kevin Spacey and his alleged historic behaviour, now Rapp has revealed why he did it.

Speaking to CBS’s The Talk, Anthony Rapp revealed why he spoke up about how he says Kevin Spacey acted towards him when he was just a 14-year-old boy.

In October, Rapp who is now 46, told Buzzfeed that he joined Spacey for a party at his Manhattan apartment saying that he was the only non-adult at the party and soon got bored. After a while, Rapp said that he wandered into the bedroom, watched TV until well past midnight. He then alleged that Spacey made “sexual advances” toward the then teenager.

According to the report in Buzzfeed, Rapp had once approached a lawyer to discuss legal action against Spacey but was told it was not a case worth pursuing. He also stated that because of the accusations levied against Harvey Weinstein that he was “really awake to the moment that we’re living in”.

He reinforced this by saying, “Part of what allowed the Harvey situation to occur was that there was this witting and unwitting conspiracy of silence,

“The only way these things can continue is if there’s no attention being paid to it, if it’s getting forgotten.”

Rapp also spoke about how he felt “dread” whilst watching the Tony Awards when Kevin Spacey was a host for the show.

    “Protect”

The Broadway and Star Trek actor said that despite the risk he knew there were more stories about the now disgraced actor but he also wanted to “protect” people.

    “It was a risky thing”

Speaking on The Talk, Rapp said,  “I knew that there were more stories so I was just hopeful that coming forward, it would encourage more people to tell the truth.”

“I knew that it was a risky thing.

“I knew that he was very popular and certainly a respected actor, but at the same time I knew that I was trying to protect people”.

His statement was met with applause from the show’s live studio audience.

What happened to Spacey after the allegation?

Shortly after Rapp’s allegations, Netflix, the co-producers of the Spacey-fronted hit TV series, House Of Cards, confirmed that the show would continue, but without Spacey in the role of Frank Underwood. However, there was speculation that the show would be cancelled, the news was met with considerable backlash with some fans sending abuse the Rapp. However, the show will continue but with Robin Wright, who plays Clare Underwood, taking the lead.
