  • When will the X Factor 2017 start and who is judging it this year?

Summer 2017 sees the return of one Britain’s most popular show, the X Factor. When does it start, who is hosting it and who are the judges?

when does the new series of X Factor start?

Simon Cowell has already hinted that there will be many new surprises to delight and retain viewers.

After last year’s dismal ratings, Simon Cowell has hinted that there will be many changes to the 2017 format of X Factor, including a new location for auditions, six weeks of live shows instead of 10 and no more novelty acts, like Honey G, that have blighted the show for years. For fans of the Jukebox, it will not be returning to the 2017 series after Simon ruled it out in July.

When does X Factor 2017 start?

Although the show’s first episode air date has not yet been announced, you can expect it to be at the end of August. This is when the show usually starts and takes viewers right up until Christmas. It has historically launched on the last weekend of August. Dermot O’Leary is returning for hosting duties.

Who is judging the X Factor 2017?

Don’t expect too many changes to the lineup from 2016. Simon, Nicole, Sharon and Louis Walsh will all be returning, however, there are rumours that several guest judges will be making a stop to shake things up.

After years of fixing and rejigging the judging panel, this is the first time that the show will have exactly the same judging panel as the previous year. A source said that the “chemistry was perfect” among the judges.

Where will the Judge’s Houses be in this year’s X Factor?

As always, the location of the judge’s houses is a secret – you’ll have to wait until the shows to find out more.

Who won last year’s X Factor?

In case you’ve forgotten – so much has happened since last year’s finale, Matt Terry won out the series – followed by Saara Alto.

Will Sinitta be going into the Big Brother house?

No, apparently her demands are too high.

  • People really want a gay version of Love Island – with one condition

It seems that a gay version of ITV 2’s runaway hit, Love Island would go down a storm – but people are asking for it on one condition…

People really want a gay version of Love Island - with one condition

People have asked for “ordinary guys”

Apparently, TV execs are eyeing up a gay version of ITV 2’s runaway hit series Love Island after the creator, Richard Cowes said he’d love to see a man on man version of the show but said that trying to mix the two versions would be difficult. The show although praised for its entertainment value has failed in representing LGBT+ relationships.

However, on the back of that news, THEGAYUK’s readers seem well up for a gay version as long as the guy they chose reflect the real bodies of people.

The men on this season of Love Island have certainly got pulses racing, but how representative are they to the average population? Numerous commentators on our original story praised the idea of a gay version of the show but begged for “less sculpted”  and a “cross section of guys” to be represented. People loved the idea that “someone like me” should be represented by the contestants.

So would you tune into an “ordinary” gay version of Love Island?

  • There could be a gay Love Island

And we’re totally open for that.

Apparently TV execs are eyeing up a gay version of ITV 2’s runaway hit series Love Island after the creator, Richard Cowes said he’d love to see a man on man version of the show but said that trying to mix the two versions would be difficult. Love Island has been an absolute ratings winner for ITV 2 with many calling it a “guilty pleasure” despite the hundreds of complaints the show has attracted since its launch.

A spokesperson for the show told Digital Spy,

“The main stipulation for Love Island applicants is that they are single and looking for love, and we are open to all possibilities.”

    Bromance wins out again

This year viewers have been obsessed by the relationship that grew between two male contestants, Chris and Kem with many fans calling the bromance between the pair the real winner of the series.

The pair were so enamoured with each other that they decided to shave each other’s initials into their pubic hair.

  • Sinitta has “ridiculous” CBB demands

Sinitta is approached for Celebrity Big Brother every single year – but bosses swiftly retract their offer when they hear her “ridiculous” demands.

    Sinitta has "ridiculous" CBB demands

The ‘So Macho’ hitmaker has admitted she’s asked to enter the famous abode every time bosses put the line-up together but, although they’re put off by her terms and conditions, she’s adamant they’ll come round to her way of thinking sometime soon.

Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (20.07.17), she said,

” Well they said my demands were ridiculous – I said they were reasonable.

“We’ve been talking for years and we’ll go on talking. I’m going to live for a few more years and I think they’ll come around to my way of thinking.”

However, the 53-year-old singer certainly has her hands full this year as she’s confident that her friend Simon Cowell will ask her to help him with the Judges’ Houses round of the forthcoming series of ‘The X Factor’ after he replaced her with Mel B last year.

    She explained,

“Remember Simon last year invited me back live on air? So you know we’ve got that, we’ve got that recorded.

“But I did read recently that he offered Cheryl Tweedy £500,000 to come back to do Judges’ Houses. Rude, just rude. I mean I don’t know – hopefully he’s just being funny.”

And, although she thinks the 57-year-old music mogul – who has a three-year-old son called Eric with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman – is “sexy”, she doesn’t fancy him.

    She said,

“They said, ‘do I still think he is attractive now that he has sort of become more cosy and softer’ and I said, ‘he is still a very handsome, sexy man’. Does that mean I still fancy him? … Because I know he is not really that scary but obviously he can be to people he doesn’t know but I’m kind of like sister/mother/daughter. We’ve got a very strange relationship but it is an honest one.”

  • Judge Rinder’s show could be heading to the USA

Judge Rinder Vs Judge Judy – who will be victorious?

Is Judge Rinder going to the USA?

It seems as though out and proud Robert Rinder, AKA Judge Rinder could be making his way to the USA as TV execs stateside are eyeing up his show’s success here in the UK.

Speaking to The Sun Robert revealed that talks about putting Judge Rinder on US televisions are advanced and its overall success could all depend on which network the show lands on.

    He said,

“The show is in advanced talks to go to America. The difficulty with American television is it’s pot luck.

“We have a good relationship with a very famous production company but it depends what channel you’re on,”

The UK judge, however, will have to do some considerable catch up in order to beat US TV’s most successful courtroom shows. With just over 400 episodes, Judge Rinder is going to have to play some serious catch up to Judge Judy’s show which has run for a staggering 21 series with over 5900 episodes and Divorce Court which has over 5700 episodes.

  • Channel 4 got a love in for its trans and pan visibility

Regardless of what you think about Channel 4’s controversial dating show N*ked Attraction, people loved the trans and pan visibility in the last episode.

In a Naked Attraction first, trans and pansexual dating hopefuls were added to the naked panel. The show’s second season premiere featured self-identified pansexual Lizzy who came out after one year of university and says she is open to all genders saying, “I’m attracted to everyone”.

Speaking about being transgender, presenter Anna Richardson said,

“Transgender people identify with a different sex to the one they were assigned at birth. To bring their body in line with how they identify some take hormones to promote physical changes within their bodies.

“Of the estimated half a million transgender people in the UK, only a third have gender confirmation surgery where their sexual organs are altered”.

Lizzy had six of naked people to choose from including two trans people.

Naturally, the good people of Twitter had a lot to say about the programme, but the representation of trans people was generally appreciated, with some pointing out that trans representation on mainstream television was poor and that Naked Attraction’s approach deserved kudos.
