  • Gay couple killed together, when Miami bridge collapsed

    A couple who had been together for 21 years were killed when the Miami bridge collapsed on their car.

    Osvaldo “Ozzy” González, 57, and Alberto Arias, 54 were killed instantly when their car passed under a collapsing bridge in Miami.

    The couple, described as “soulmates”, who had been together for 21 years, had spent the morning helping Alberto’s mother move into their home. They went out to do some tasks, when their white Chevy truck passed under the Florida International University footbridge as it came crashing down on March 15th.

    The 862-tonne, 174ft (53m) bridge collapsed at 1:47 PM. It killed six victims who were passing under the bridge at the time of its failure. The footbridge was newly built and construction took just six hours.

    According to the Miami Herald, Alberto’s mother became worried after she heard about the disaster on local media and started to call her son’s mobile phone, but it was already too late.

    The couple owned a business together and were originally both from Cuba.

    Ozzy’s sister, Marisol González, said he was, “The best brother, friend, very cheerful, with a desire to live life to the fullest.”

    The couple will be buried together.

    Luis Arias, Alberto’s nephew said, “They were together for 21 years — they were partners,”

    “They were together in their ups they were together in their downs, they were together in their travels and enjoying life and they will be together when they are laid to rest.”

    Both families of the men are filing a lawsuit against the companies involved in the bridge collapse.

    Gay porn star, Billy Herrington, has died at the age of 48, Chi Chi LaRue revealed today. The star, whose career in adult films spanned over a decade had starred in films by Colt, All Worlds, and Pacific Sun. He died from a “terrible, terrible car crash” according to gay porn film director, Chi Chi LaRue

    Chi Chi LaRue wrote about the star’s death on Facebook saying, “Im Sad to say, Billy unfortunately died as a result of a terrible terrible car accident.”

    He was made Colt Man Of The Year in 2000 and won an Adult Erotic Gay Video Award in 2002.

  • BREAKING: US Preacher, Billy Graham dies aged 99

    One of the United States most influential preachers, Billy Graham has died at the age of 99.

    Billy Graham, a preacher who believed that homosexuality could be cured and that same-sex marriage should be banned, has died at the age of 99. In his 60 year career as a preacher, it is thought that he preached to over 210 million people.

    On his website, he once wrote an advice column,for someone who found out that a loved one was gay, he wrote, “We want to assure you that any willing person can be liberated from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ”.

    The BBC have reported his death and that he died at his home in Montreat, North Carolina

  • Black Lives Matter activist killed in New Orleans shooting

    A well-loved activist of Black Lives Matter, Muhiyidin Elamin Moye was killed in a shooting, multiple sources reveal.

    Muhiyidin Elamin Moye, 32, was shot in the thigh in New Orleans on Wednesday night and was killed. He was known for a being an activist in the Black Lives Matter movement in the US.

    According to The Hill, Moye was found on Wednesday with a gunshot wound to the thigh and was taken to hospital where he died.

    Police are now investigating the death, which has been ruled a homicide.

    The New Orleans Advocate reports that he was riding a bicycle at the time of the shoot.

    Moye became something of a sensation when he was caught on camera, during a news broadcast, jumping over a barricade in Charleston, to grab a Confederate flag from a protester in 2016.

    A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $28,000. A woman, who identified herself as Moye’s niece set up the page wrote, that Moye’s body was still in New Orleans and they were raising money to bring him back to Charleston.

    Money raised would go to a memorial service and a funeral.

     

     

  • “Storm Chasers” TV star found dead on gay cruise

    Storm Chasers TV star, Joel Taylor has died at the age of 38.

    A 38-year-old TV star has been found dead in his cabin onboard the cruise ship, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Harmony of the Seas. The ship was docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico when his body was discovered. A spokesperson for the cruise confirmed that a body had been discovered.

    An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of his death.

    Gossip site, TMZ has reported that a police official said the death “could be an overdose”. The spokesperson also said that Taylor was “consuming controlled substances”.

    According to some passengers onboard, recreational drugs were “plentiful”.

    Joel, who lived in Oklahoma, starred in Storm Chasers in 2008 on the Discovery Channel. The show ended in 2012

    Famed director, Hugh Wilson has died at the age of 74

    The director of camp classic First Wives Club and the first Police Academy film has died at the age of 74, friends of the director have confirmed.

    First Wives Club starred gay icon, Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton and has since become a cult classic amongst the gay community.

    Wilson died at his home over the weekend in Albemarle County, Virginia. He was ill at the time of his death.

    His last film credit was for Mickey in 2004.

    Wilson was married to Charters Smith in 1979. Together they have five children.

    The star of 2009’s series of Big Brother Rekebah Shelton has died unexpectedly

    Rebekah Shelton, who fans of the show may remember her when she entered the house as Rodrigo Lopes, has died unexpectedly at the age of 32. The news was confirmed by a Tweet from her official, verified Twitter account. Rekebah was, according to her Twitter account living in Dubai.

    A tweet from her personal account read, “We’re sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night.

    “We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time.”

    Ms Shelton hadn’t been using the platform much in 2017. Her last update was in November when she updated her profile picture (ABOVE). The tweet before that was sent in June and said, “Im [sic] sending this tweet to you people who still like me for some reason. People from the UK who always loved and accepted me for who I am”.

    Rebekah Shelton transitioned in 2012. Speaking about her transition she said, “I always felt like I had a woman inside of me, always, but I used to hide it. I’ve always liked make-up, treatments and other womanly things, and I was 18 when I first started experimenting. But early this year I told my best friend Andrea how I was really feeling.

    “She encouraged me. When I came back to the UK I started wearing my friends’ clothes first, then I began shopping for them”.

    Emotional about transition

    In early 2017 an emotional Shelton shared a video on Twitter over her confusion and upset over her transition. Speaking via Twitter, in Tweets that she’s now deleted, she spoke of her journey, since embarking on a series of operations to fulfil her transition. She spoke of her loneliness and the discrimination she’s faced since beginning her physical transition.

    She was left questioning whether the transition was worth it.

    The videos were uploaded after she managed to log into her old Rodrigo Facebook account and left the star feeling emotional. She said,

    “I went on, after five years, I was trying to find the Facebook account, as Rodrigo, you know, from the past. I was shocked, it’s hard to go through everything I’ve been through – having all these surgeries and things. It’s crazy when you look at yourself and the way you used to be, and it makes you wonder, what have I done?”

    “If you are following me and you want to transition, think. Think, once, twice, three times, four times, five times, because it’s not easy. You have more opportunities in your birth gender because there is still discrimination. There is still discrimination, you know so just think.”

     

    Ill Health and Coma

    In 2014 the star fell into a coma after it was discovered she had a brain tumour.

    Taking to Shelton’s official Twitter her family tweeted, ‘The doctors found a head tumour and she is in come [sic]. We cannot speak anymore. Please just pray for our Rebekah’

    The cause of Shelton’s death is unknown at this time.

    A transgender woman was found stabbed and beaten to death in her Massachusetts home on Friday evening. Her husband has been charged with her murder.   • Author of Eat Pray Love Elizabeth Gibert mourns the death of her girlfriend

    “She was my love, my heart, my best friend, my teacher”

    The author of Eat, Pray Love has paid a moving tribute to her partner, Rayya Elias after she died of pancreatic cancer.

    Taking to Instagram she wrote, “She was my love, my heart, my best friend, my teacher, my rebel, my angel, my protector, my challenger, my partner, my muse, my wizard, my surprise, my gift, my comet, my liberator, my rock star, my completely impossible non-cooperator, my otherworldly visitor, my spiritual portal, and my baby. I loved you so much”.

    The couple had been partners since the spring of 2016, following from Gilbert leaving her husband.

    The women had been best friends for over a decade, but it was Rayya’s diagnosis of pancreatic cancer that made the author realise that she was romantically attracted to her friend in the spring of 2016.

    Rayya Elias born in Aleppo, Syria was also an author. She wrote, Harley Loco: A Memoir of Hard Living, Hair and Post-Punk from the Middle East to the Lower East Side.

    Lil Peep, Hip-Hop artist and rapper

    In November, Lil Peep, real name, Gustav Åhr, a well-known Youtuber, Hip-Hop and rapper who had accumulated millions of plays died while on tour. His death was confirmed on social media by his manager Chase Oretega, who said, “I’ve been expecting this call for a year. Mother f***” His death was later confirmed to be a drug overdose.

    Henry Badenhorst Gaydar Founder

    The founder of one of the world’s biggest gay chat sites, Gaydar, died at the age of 51 in November. Local media in Johannesburg reported that a 51-year-old man was seen falling from the 23rd floor of Michaelangelo Towers. Gaydar was founded by Badenhorst along with his partner Gary Frisch in 1999 after a mutual friend of theirs spoke about how he was too busy to find a boyfriend. The pair created the website shortly after. Badenhorst and Frisch’s personal relationship ended in 2006, but they remained business partners until Frisch’s death.

    Edith Windsor – gay marriage activist

    Edith Windsor, who helped end the ban on same-sex marriage in the US died at the age of 88 in September. Ms Windsor’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, announced that the same-sex marriage activist had died in New York, US. The cause of her death was not given, but Ms Windsor had been struggling with a heart condition for years.
