So recently, Years and Years singer, Olly Alexander, asked his 534,000 Instagram followers to ask him questions and we learned a few things about him like he once dated a French girl, he’s learning Spanish and his ideal date would involve UFO spotting… but there was another message, which is pretty crucial…

He cares about your balls. And as it’s Movember he was asked about guys checking their balls for lumps and bumps…

He told his fans, “please everybody who’s got balls, please check them after you’ve had a shower or after a bath, if you feel anything that’s out of the ordinary, please go and speak to someone”

Is he bookish or a TV fanatic, well, according to the singer, “I love both of those things. I want to have books and TV.

Does Olly Alexander speak other languages?

He speaks a little French and showed of his skills, plus he also revealed that he “loved with a French girl for a bit”. Oh and he speaks a bit of Spanish…

  • Olly Alexander to lead the cast of Russell T Davies’ next TV drama

Olly Alexander to lead the cast of Russell T Davies’ next TV drama

The Years and Years singer is set to join a host of other stars for Russell T. Davies’ next TV drama.

Olly will be joining Keeley Hawes, Stephen Fry, Neil Patrick Harris, Tracy Ann Oberman, Shaun Dooley, Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells and Lydia West for a 5-part series charting the joy and heartbreak of four friends during a decade in which everything changed

Casting has been announced on multi-BAFTA Award-winning writer Russell T Davies’ (Queer As Folk, A Very English Scandal, Years and Years, Doctor Who) brand new 5-part drama for Channel 4, Boys (working title) which will be produced by RED Production Company (a STUDIOCANAL company).

It’s 1981, the start of a new decade and Ritchie, Roscoe and Colin begin a new life in London. Strangers at first, these young gay lads, and their best friend Jill, find themselves thrown together, and soon share each other’s adventures. But a new virus is on the rise, and soon their lives will be tested in ways they never imagined. As the decade passes, and they grow up in the shadow of AIDS, they’re determined to live and love more fiercely than ever.

Olly Alexander, from the band Years & Years, plays 18-year-old Ritchie Tozer, the family’s golden boy, though he’s determined to keep his secrets from them.

Newcomer Omari Douglas plays London-born 17-year-old Roscoe Babatunde, a wild, brittle party boy, always on the run.

Newcomer Callum Scott Howells plays Colin Morris-Jones, a quiet, unassuming, boy from Wales, about to become an apprentice on Savile Row.

Lydia West (Years and Years) plays Jill Baxter, Ritchie’s friend from college, straight-talking, funny, and the rock on which they rely.

Nathaniel Curtis plays Ash, a faithful friend through thick and thin.

The cast also includes Keeley Hawes (Honour, Bodyguard, The Durrells, Line of Duty), who plays Valerie, Ritchie’s mum, Shaun Dooley (Gentleman Jack, Broadchurch, Woman in Black) who plays Clive, his dad, Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Gone Girl, A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Henry Coltrane, Stephen Fry (Wilde, Gosford Park, Bones) as MP Arthur Garrison, and Tracy Ann Oberman (Friday Night Dinner, Toast of London, After Life) as Carol Carter.

Olly Alexander says, “I feel like the luckiest boy in the world to be a part of this project, I’ve been a fan of Russell T Davies ever since I watched Queer As Folk in secret at 14 years old. His work helped shape my identity as a gay person so I’m absolutely over the moon we’ll be working together. The script was amazing to read, I laughed and I cried a lot, it’s a privilege to be helping to tell this story and I’m so excited.”

Neil Patrick Harris says: “I’m so pleased, and incredibly proud, to be a part of Russell T Davies’ new series. This drama, Boys, is two things: it is an irresistible, funny, jubilant story of young people discovering their true identities and the unalloyed joy of living life to the fullest, it is also a deeply resonant exploration of a decade when so many of these lives were cut short by the devastating effects of the nascent AIDS pandemic. Russell’s scripts chart the highs and lows of this time so beautifully and deftly, it’s an honour to help tell this story.”

Filming begins next week and the series will air on Channel 4 in 2020. The series is overseen at Channel 4 by Lee Mason, Commissioning Editor and Caroline Hollick, Head of Drama. The series will be produced by RED Production Company (a STUDIOCANAL company) and executive produced by Nicola Shindler (Years and Years, Safe, Happy Valley, Queer As Folk, Cucumber) and Russell T Davies (Years and Years, Queer As Folk, A Very English Scandal, Doctor Who, Cucumber). Phil Collinson (Gentleman Jack, Good Omens, Doctor Who) is the producer. The series is directed by Peter Hoar (Umbrella Academy, The Last Kingdom, Da Vinci’s Demons).

Boys is the 10th collaboration between Russell T Davies and RED Production Company. The partnership is known for producing relevant, timely and emotionally charged dramas having previously created hit series including Queer As Folk, Casanova, Cucumber, Banana, Bob & Rose and The Second Coming.

    All3media International are global partner.

Years and Years’ Olly: “If more people supported LGBT+ artists they’d get more slots”

Olly Alexander has said if more people listened to and supported LGBT+ artists, they’d get more slots at Pride.

Years and Years singer Olly Alexander has suggested that if more people supported LGBT+ artists then they’d they get more slots at Pride events across the UK.

The singer also revealed that he “always donates” his part of the Years and Years fee to perform at any pride they are asked to attend.

This year, Years and Years will be performing alongside Ariana Grande at Manchester Pride.

The singer said that although he’d love to see more LGBT+ headliners “the reality is line ups are a mix of artists depending on their availability and the need to sell tickets.”

Manchester Pride has been at the centre of a row over the announcement of Ariana Grande as its headliner in 2019, with many suggesting that the Pride should have chosen an LGBT+ identified person. The singer released a statement over the backlash.

Olly, Mikey and Emre certainly didn’t hold back from answering the most difficult of your questions…

Eggs hard boiled or soft boiled? Chinese or Pizza? Dog or Cat?… If you’re still reading it was, “Poached”, “Chinese” and “Otter”.

Fear not though, it wasn’t all food and animal questions… apart from the Dinosaur or Unicorn question where strangely “Dinosaurs” won out.

There was some talk of the music industry greats where they preferred “Beyoncé to marry and Ri Ri to party with”.

They’d give Harry Styles an “11” out of 10, whilst judging their own fame at around a “7.3”.

Knowing if someone likes it crusty or not is a very important question in any relationship and YearsAndYears are certainly a fan of “Crusts”.We’re talking sandwiches dear!

On top of this they’re also a fan of the “unibrow”.

Ageing could be a problem for the boys as when asked about the return of Twin Peaks they were, “mixed about it. Love Twin Peaks but don’t want to see the cast looking old.” Then again if they could be anyone for a day it would be “Bruce Willis” and he has to be about 180 by now right?

Seeking advice on gym tips for their larger fans, the lads said to, “screw exercise and pass the potato chips”. Words we all like to hear, but, when talking about hot beverages they also say to “forget about the sugar, take a spoonful of me.” Not quite sure they’d t in the mug but maybe we could spoon elsewhere?

Finally the best and slightly disturbing question of the #Ask session enquired as to the cute Disney nickname they gave their dick. (Turns out, it was a slightly couldn’t be bothered to get up “Dopey”.)

Olly Alexander Has A Crush On Jeremy Corbyn

Years and Years frontman Olly Alexander has admitted he has a crush on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Olly Alexander, the Years and Years‘ 24-year-old front man has told E Magazine that he has a crush on the opposition’s leader, Jeremy Corbyn.

Speaking about his political persuasion he also let slip that he finds Mr Corbyn highly fanciable and loves the way the 66-year-0ld politician looks and his get up and get ’em attitude.

    Speaking candidly Olly said,

    “I’m a real left-winger. I fancy Jeremy Corbyn!”

“Maybe it’s naïve of me to have this romantic political fantasy but I like the way he looks like he’s always about to head off to a march or a protest.”

Mr. Corbyn became Labour’s leader and the leader of the opposition in September 2015 after former leader Ed Miliband resigned from his position following the UK’s general election.

Olly Alexander broke up with his former boyfriend, Neil Amin-Smith, the 25-year-old violinist with classical-pop hitmakers Clean Bandit in November.

Speaking about the breakup Olly said,

‘We split up in November. It’s hard to negotiate any relationship at the best of times but then to have this added pressure… It’s just a very weird thing to have a relationship that’s commented on by the world wide web.’

    So is Olly single?

‘open to suggestions’ and ‘trying not to rush anything’.

    Hold us back.
