Joe Groves at Deloveroo said, “Celebrating love in all its forms is at the core of the Deliveroo brand and we are proud to play our part in PRIDE once again. The Drag community is pivotal to the story-telling of the LGBTQ+ community, so honouring some of these icons seemed like the perfect way to help us spread the word and raise money for a great charity. Creating this menu to raise funds for The Albert Kennedy Trust and re-branding as Deloveroo are part of our continued efforts to create visibility around LGBTQ+ causes”

Season 9 Queen Charlie Hides said, “the Deliver-Ru restaurant is the only place you should be ordering lunch and dinner from this pride because the food is almost as delicious as me and the profits go to a brilliant cause…So sashay your way onto Deliveroo right now and let’s raise some money folks!”

24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender, with 77% citing abuse and rejection by their families after coming out as the primary reason. The Albert Kennedy Trust provides safe homes, mentoring and support to ensure that no young person has to choose between a safe home and being who they are.

  • Where are the cast of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert now?

It’s 25 years since cult classic, The Adventures Of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert was released. So what has happened with the cast since 1994?

Where are the cast of Priscilla Queen Of The Dessert now?

Priscilla is the 38th most successful LGBT film on record, although its reach is arguably much bigger than this. It’s one of the few LGBT films that has been made into a successful worldwide smash musical. Not even The Birdcage can claim that.

    Terence Stamp (Bernadette Bassenger)

English actor Terence Stamp, who turns 80 this year, has had a highly successful acting career having appeared in countless hits such as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Valkyrie and even a Star Wars film. He’s been married just once. In 2002 at the age of 64 to a 29-year-old woman who he met in a pharmacy. The couple divorced in 2008 – and he’s not married since.

    Hugo Weaving (Mitzi Del Bra)

Most famously Hugo played the evil and ever-present Agent Smith in The Matrix just a few years after taking the lead role in Priscilla. He is still making films, his most recent are Mortal Engines and Black 47. He has been in a relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Katrina Greenwood since 1984 and they have two children together.

    Guy Pearce (Felicia Jollygoodfellow)

English born Guy Pearce made his name in the soap Neighbours in which he appeared in from 1986 to 1989. He starred in 496 episodes. After leaving Neighbours he appeared in 12 episodes of competitor soap, Home and Away. Priscilla remains one of Guy’s most successful films where he is the lead, although Iron Man 3 is by far the most lucrative film he’s made, followed by The King’s Speech. Guy is still making films and music. Guy is also a passionate songwriter and has released an album, Broken Bones which dropped in 2014. He is planning a second to be released in 2018.

    Bill Hunter (Bob Spart)

Unfortunately, Bill Hunter died in 2011 from liver cancer. He was married three times all ending in divorce. He appeared in more than 60 films, with Priscilla being one of the most successful. His most notable role though maybe the 1995 smash Muriel’s Wedding where he played Muriel’s father, Bill Heslop. His final film as in 2011, called The Cup.

    Julia Cortez (Cynthia Campos)

Julia has just two film credits to her name, Priscilla and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. She now owns a Financial Services business in Sydney having retired from showbiz in 1994.

    Sarah Chadwick (Marion Barber)

Sarah is most famous in her native Austraila as Dr Rowie Lang in the long-running soap, The Flying Doctors. Since Priscilla, she has continued her work in TV and starred in Home And Away in 2011 and 2017.

    Mark Holmes (Benjamin Barber)

He was just 10 when he starred in Priscilla, but it wasn’t his first acting credit. He was in the 1992 film The Leaving Of Liverpool, which also starred Priscilla co-star Bill Hunter. After 1998 he seemingly dropped his acting career as he has not appeared in any other films or TV shows since, according to IMDB.

  • FILM REVIEW | The Death And Life of Marsha P. Johnson

★★★★★ | The Death And Life of Marsha P. Johnson

review the death and life of MArsha P Johnson

“There’s a massive number of trans women who have been murdered, and they’re yelling out from their graves for justice”.

Director David France makes stunning a return with The Death And Life Of Marsha P Johnson, and it’s devastatingly relevant as dozens of trans women, particularly of colour, are murdered every year across the globe.

In 1992 Marsha went missing she was last seen on the 4th July, two days later her body turned up in the Hudson River, New York. Police and an autopsy ruled her death a suicide, but friends and relatives believe that she would never end her own life.

Was her death an accident, suicide or something more sinister? This is the question that activist and crime victim advocate Victoria Cruz from the New York Anti-Violence Project has set out to determine as she launches her own investigation into the death of one of New York‘s most prominent LGBT figures.

Marsha was and is, without a doubt, one of the leading activists who created the modern LGBT+ rights movement in the USA. The film also pays kind tribute to another unsung hero of the movement, Sylvia Rivera who died in 2002. Previously unseen, fascinating footage of Rivera shows her to be a formidable character and unrelenting trans and gay rights advocate. Her life was cut short at the age of just 50 of complications from liver cancer.

Documentary maker David France, whose other notable work includes, How To Survive A Plague, uses stock and archive footage and touching interviews with those who knew Marsha to haunting effect, bringing alive the formative years of the burgeoning gay rights movement in New York, following the Stonewall Riots in the summer of 1969.

Theresa May ends Downing Street ban for Peter Tatchell

Theresa May has become the first Prime Minister to end the exclusion of one of the UK’s most prominent LGBT+ rights campaigners from attending functions at 10 Downing Street.

Peter Tatchell will now be able to enter 10 Downing Street after Theresa May ended a ban on the human rights advocate from attending any functions at the exclusive address. It’s not known whether his ban was deliberate or just careless.

For a decade, Peter has found himself uninvited to an annual Pride party held at 10 Downing Street. The exclusion started during Tony Blair’s premiership to David Cameron’s. This is despite Peter’s unwavering fight for rights since 1972.

    CREDIT: Monty McKinnen

Peter Tatchell said, “Since the inception of Downing Street LGBT Pride receptions a decade ago, I have been banned from attending by successive Prime Ministers – Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and David Cameron.

“Despite my 51 years of campaigning, and my role in the UK’s first Pride parade in 1972, they apparently deemed me to be the unacceptable face of LGBT activism.

“I was therefore surprised and delighted that Theresa May has invited me to this year’s reception on 3 July – just days after I wrote to her urging compensation for gay men convicted under past anti-gay laws.

“I am not much fussed about attending such receptions but I am honoured to be asked and have accepted the invitation.

“I look forward to meeting the Prime Minister and reiterating my call for gay victims of homophobic laws, who suffered so badly, to receive government compensation.

“She has already acknowledged the grave injustice done to these men, so I hope she will go one step further and recognise that these men deserve recompense for the terrible trauma of criminalisation that they went through.”

This year’s annual LGBT Pride party takes place on the 3rd July.

  • What’s the best way to get from Heathrow into central London?

What’s the best way to get from Heathrow into central London?

If you’re flying into Heathrow and travelling into central London there are several options for you ranging in price and convenience.

    The cheapest option

The cheapest option to travel from Heathrow to central London is by what the locals affectionately call The Tube. Heathrow is right at the end (or start depending on how you look at it) of the Piccadilly Line (the dark blue line). It serves all the terminals at London’s Heathrow airport.

What’s brilliant about the Piccadilly Line is that it also serves most of London’s touristic areas, such as Leicester Square (one of the closest stations to London’s gay scene), Covent Garden and Knightsbridge.

The trains run frequently and within the operating hours of Heathrow. The travel time from Heathrow Terminal 5 to say Leicester Square is around 54 minutes. You don’t need to make any changes and because Heathrow is at the beginning of the line you are almost certainly guaranteed a seat.

Make sure you get an end seat so you can store your luggage in the little space provided at the end of the row. Don’t bring your luggage further into the carriage. The aisles are not big and your baggage will cause an obstruction.

Getting on and off London’s Tube is super easy, especially if you have a contactless debit or credit card or you can buy an Oyster Card and top it up and pay as you go. Travelling with an Oyster or Contactless payment card means you’ll always pay the right fee and it has a daily cap, so you’ll never spend more than a traditional travel card.

This journey will cost you £5.10 (PEAK) and £3.10 (OFF PEAK) with an Oyster or Contactless card. With cash it will cost you £6.00.

    The quickest option

TfL Image - New Tube for London Interior

The quickest way to get from Heathrow into central London is by the Heathrow Express which terminates at Paddington. Paddington offers great connections to all areas of London via the Tube.

Heathrow Express runs every 15 minutes and the journey time takes just 15 minutes.

A one-way ticket costs £25 ($33, €28) during peak hours ( 6:30 AM – 9:30 AM and 4 PM – 7 PM) or £22 ($29, €25) off-peak. Returns are charged at £37 ($49, €42). You can buy tickets as cheap as £5.50 if you book online, for the weekend, and in advance.

Tickets can be bought online, at the station, at a ticket machine or via the Heathrow Express app. If you buy your ticket on board the train you will be charged more £30 (Peak) or £27 (off-peak) a return is charged at £42.

    The most comfortable

    Uber, Minicab, London’s Black Cabs

The most comfortable way to travel from Heathrow with no stops or changes will be by private hire car, but watch out for the prices. You could end up with an expensive bill. The most expensive option is the iconic London black taxi which could cost up to £90 ($118, €101) and take 60 minutes. The taxis stop at the taxi ranks located outside each of Heathrow’s arrivals’ halls. All of London’s Black Cabs have wheelchair access.

The cheaper of the options is to order an Uber direct from your smartphone.

All taxis pick up passengers from the Taxi ranks.

    The Coach

There is a coach service that runs all day with up to 51 departures per dat. It’s run by National Express. They depart from every terminal and arrive at London’s Victoria Station, 300 metres from the Tube. Prices are from £6 per ticket.

    The most freedom

As you’d expect all the major car hire companies have a desk at Heathrow and are all located in the Arrivals’ hall in each of Heathrow’s terminals.

Remember in the UK we drive on the left.

There aren’t many toll rolls, but be warned we do have the daily congestion charge in central London (operates from 7:00 AM until 6:00PM). Any car (non-electric) that enters the zone will be charged a daily £11.50 fee, which you have to pay by midnight or the fee increases to £14 up until the midnight on the following day. After that you’ll be slapped with a hefty fine. You can pay over the phone or online.

Despite being one of the world’s greatest football players, people still want to know whether Cristiano Ronaldo is actually gay.

    Is Cristiano Ronaldo gay?

Some people have long suspected that legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is gay and when Rihanna seemingly outed him back in 2013 it seemed as though we had our answer, but the sports star has remained tight-lipped about his sexuality ever since. That was until Cristiano allegedly confided that he had responded to a gay slur in which he was called “a faggot” in an incredible way.

There was a conversation that reportedly happened between Cristiano and a fellow teammate that was overheard in the locker room in which Cristiano was explaining an incident between himself and another footballer.
