  • Man who touched other man’s hip in Dubai has been freed by the Ruler of Dubai

The Scotsman who was jailed yesterday for breaking Dubai’s strictly indecency laws has been freed by Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.

Jamie Harron has been freed from his Dubai jail, after the country’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum made a special order. The cases against him have been dismissed amidst an international backlash against the country.

Speaking on behalf of Mr Harron, Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, said today,

“We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed for his personal intervention in this case, and for exonerating Jamie at long last. It has now been established that the allegations against Jamie were entirely unwarranted, defamatory, and meritless; to such an extent that the Ruler of the country found it necessary to step in and correct the wrongful action of the Public Prosecutor and to quash the judgment of the court. This was a courageous and honourable decision on the part of Sheikh Mohammed, and while it highlights the urgent need for judicial reform in the country, it is also a hopeful sign that the UAE’s leadership possesses the will and vision to pursue such reforms in the future,

“When Jamie was called this morning by the police he was told that the case had been dismissed, and that he should come in to collect his passport”, Stirling explained. “He was understandably nervous; as similar calls from the police in other cases were merely tactics to lure individuals into police custody. But when Jamie arrived at the police station, his passport was returned, and he was told that he was free to go. The charges were dropped, the sentence annulled, and he faces no order for deportation.

“This came by direct order from Sheikh Mohammed.”

Mr Harron is expected to bring a civil case against his accuser. After being arrested and detained in Dubai, he had spent over £30,000 on legal fees and lost his job in the process.

His legal representation said that they believe that Mr Harron, would bring civil proceedings against his accusers and the company he works for. Detained In Dubai, said that the allegations against him “have been definitively proven false and slanderous, and have caused him tremendous suffering and financial loss”.

  • Man who touched another man’s hip in Dubai sentenced to 3 months in Prison

The man who brushed up against another man in a Dubai bar, in an attempt to protect against drink spillage has been sentenced to 3 months in Dubai.

Jamie Harron from Stirling in central Scotland has today been imprisoned for 3 months following the complaints that Mr Harron had touched another man’s hip at a bar in Dubai.

In fighting his case, Mr Harron has lost his job and spent in excess of £30,000 on his legal defence.

Jamie was in Dubai, with a friend, on a two-day stopover from Afghanistan, where he worked as an electrician.  Mr Harron claimed that he was trying to ensure that a drink he was holding did not spill on himself or others. He touched the other man’s hip in order to avoid an impact. He was arrested for public indecency and his passport was seized but authorities. In fighting his case, Jamie has spent in excess of £30,000 in legal fees. He has spent all of his savings and spent £12,000 on credit cards.

According to Detained In Dubai, leading experts in Middle Eastern Law, Mr Harron has yet to be sentenced for two other charges stemming from the case; that of consuming alcohol, and for allegedly making a rude gesture against Mr Tabaza.

He was previously sentenced to 30 days in prison for failing to appear at a court hearing the date of which he had not been notified of in advance.

    Life in tatters

He has already spent several months stranded in the UAE over this case, lost his job, and is in danger of losing his home as he struggles to pay legal expenses.

Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, commented, “Now Jamie has been sentenced to 3 months; there is no telling whether a judgment on appeal will be better or worse. He has already suffered tremendously as a result of these allegations, and now faces the likelihood of incarceration. His family was unable to visit him during this critical time because they faced a very real risk of imprisonment themselves under the UAE’s cybercrime laws which forbid criticism of the government.

“At this point, Jamie will definitely be pursuing civil action against his accusers when he does eventually return home, as it appears that he will not be able to find justice in the UAE.”

Mr Harron, she said, is understandably distraught.

“He is angry, disappointed, and dreads what may happen next. He feels betrayed and exploited by the system, which did not investigate the reports of key witnesses in his defence and led him to believe that the case would be dropped. He can’t understand why a company like Neuman & Esser came out so publicly to repeat the defamatory allegations of Mr Tabaza, and he is intent on pursuing further legal action.”

Though the German company that employs Mr Tabaza, Neuman & Esser, claims that Tabaza sought to dismiss the case in August, Detained In Dubai says there is no documentation to support this, and Mr Tabaza has never appeared in court to request a dismissal.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said, “We have been in contact with a British man following his arrest in Dubai in July. We are providing consular assistance.”

7 things you probably didn’t know about Joe McFadden

    Is Joe McFadden gay?

People have been searching whether Joe McFadden is gay or straight. Not much is known about the Scotsman’s personal life because he’s kept it private. He’s never “come out” or acknowledged a relationship. There aren’t any details on whether he is currently in a relationship.

    Is Joe McFadden gay

There was, however, a bit of tabloidy news about him splitting with a girlfriend in 2000, but he told the Scotsman Newspaper, “There’s nothing to speak of, I just think it’s not really anyone’s business. I don’t mean that to sound aggressive or confrontational but it’d be like going up to that guy (he points to a waiter] and asking who he’s sleeping with. It’s rude. I do understand that people want to know because they know who you are and they want to know the details of your life. But you give so much of your life to the job that I want some bits for myself.”

10 totally homoerotic horror movies that aren’t suppose to be gay

With Halloween just around the corner, we thought we’d look through the campest, gayest most homoerotic movies ever to grace this planet.

The way-to-good looking heartthrob, who incidentally always has great hair, teeth and wears Daz white Ts only to eventually get ripped and shredded by an ugly monster, it’s a bit like Saturday nights out in town.

    10. Jeepers Creepers 2

First in our list of homoerotic horror movies is the 2005 flick Jeepers Creepers. The first time we see the winged monster from Jeepers Creepers (in the first movie) he’s preying after some boy in a cornfield, clearly, after tasting boy fear, he can’t help himself but go after an entire busload of jocks. It’s a bit like Bait Bus but messier, a bit like HazeHim.com but deadlier. So after the bus, they are all travelling on, suffers a flat tyre, the boys proceed to lie on top of the bus half naked basking in the sunshine as well as taking extended urinating breaks together.

After doing away with the grown-ups on the trip the Monster starts picking on the jocks, leaving the first victim half naked and provocatively draped on the ground for the remainder of the film. Hot and Homoerotic.

  • Katie Hopkins’ book, Rude, has publish date pushed back

Katie Hopkins’ book, Rude has had its publishing date pushed back…

Is Rude in Rude health? Katie’s publisher pushes back the drop date for former Celebrity Big Brother and Apprentice star Katie Hopkins’ book. When we first wrote about the book in June the book was placed at number 31,776  in the Amazon Best seller’s list – from pre-orders alone and had a publish date of 5th October 2017. Publishers, Biteback have now advised that the publish date is now 7th November.

The book now sits at number #22,535 in Amazon’s best sellers’ list. Hopkins has now embarked on a speaking tour,

Katie Hopkins, who has in the past said that it was her mission in life to become a “gay icon” has had a number of setbacks this year, including her legal battle with Jack Monroe and her departure from the LBC radio station. She does however still have her column with the MailOnline.

THEGAYUK.com reached out to Katie’s Publisher for comment who said,

“On 7th November Biteback will publish Rude a memoir by Katie Hopkins.

Love her or hate her, Katie Hopkins is impossible to ignore, and this hilarious and revealing new book – part memoir, part handbook for the modern woman – is the same.

Laughing through the chapters of her life, she shares her disasters, her biggest disappointments and the time she had to ring her super sensible boss to say she was on the front pages of the tabloids having sex in a field.

From being kicked out of the army for being epileptic, to firing little Lord Sugar; from her first husband leaving her in the maternity ward for the big-boobed secretary, to the reality behind Celebrity Big Brother, she has plenty of surprises to share and lessons she thinks we should learn.

Readers be warned, however. Katie doesn’t sugar-coat anything, and neither does she hold back, making her as honest in her book as she is in life.

But this book is an introduction to a quieter Katie too, one people seldom see. She takes us beyond her front door and into the privacy of her home, writing as a mum of three, sharing things even she feels awkward saying.

After writing that we should burn in hell, Love & Hip-Hop Hollywood star Hazel-E is asking for forgiveness.

Hazel E star of the Love & Hip-Hop Hollywood TV show is apparently asking her gay fans to forgive her after saying  “burn in hell just like God said in the bible”!

She made the comment in a comment on her boyfriend’s already homophobic Instagram post, which proclaimed that he said he hoped all gays would die and go to hell.

Why did this all come about? Well, some troll apparently accused her boyfriend, Rose Burgundy of being gay and he was not happy about it. Taking to Instagram he wrote, “You really want to know how I feel about gays so bad well here you go I hope all gays die and go to hell…”

Hazel-E then commented under his post saying, “Burn in hell just like God said in the Bible!”

TMZ gave the star a platform to explain herself and her remarks.

In a video, she says that she didn’t think her comment was a good idea and that she relied on the LGBT community for supporting her career. She also said that she didn’t mean the entire community – just that one troll.

She said, “OMG, my life this hair, this makeup, this glam, my world would like, fall apart without the LGBT community”

Watch as she asks for forgiveness and then tries to explain her comment away.

  • Prostate Cancer UK opens online support group for gay and bisexual men

Prostate Cancer UK has teamed up with Opening Doors London to trial a new online discussion group for gay and bisexual men who have been affected by prostate cancer. The online discussion group will provide men with the opportunity to discuss any subject or concerns about prostate cancer and offer support.

The first session was held last night (18 October at 7pm) and was facilitated by Opening Doors London, the largest charity for older people in the LGBT community in the UK. Sessions will take place for an hour on the third Thursday of every month for the trial period (6 months) and will be accessible from a computer, tablet or phone. Participants can choose to dial in by video or by audio only, if they prefer not to be seen on screen. Additionally, men can join anonymously should they wish.

Currently, 1 man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer – that’s more than 11,000 men in the UK each year. This makes tackling prostate cancer through research, campaigning and providing support crucially important. Tailoring information and services to different areas of the community also plays a key role in tackling this disease.

Martin Wells, 63 from Burnley, is a gay man who was diagnosed with localised prostate cancer in 2007. He said: “Going through prostate cancer and the side effects of treatment really affected me psychologically. I desperately needed emotional support to help me get through this difficult time and there weren’t any services near me that focused on psychosexual health. The fact there is not tailored support for men like me in every area of the country, encouraged me to set up my own support groups. Talking to other men who could speak to me on my terms felt incredible. That’s why Prostate Cancer UK’s new online discussion group is a great opportunity for gay, bisexual men and MSM to come together and discuss any topics on prostate cancer without judgement, wherever they live. I would encourage anyone who has any concerns or needs support to join up and share how they feel.

Ann Innes, Support Group Development Manager at Prostate Cancer UK explains, “We know that people find a great deal of help and support in dealing with prostate cancer from being able to talk to others about shared experiences and problems. Although there are many prostate cancer support groups around the UK, we know that some gay and bisexual men may not feel comfortable about discussing some of their concerns or asking certain types of questions in these groups. So we wanted to offer an alternative for people who would like to speak to others with similar experiences but who for whatever reason could not or do not want to utilise a face to face group. We hope to see this unique support group develop into a key trusted resource for these men going forward.”

Professor Jeffery Weeks, Chair of ODL trustees said, “Opening Doors London is delighted to be working in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK in the development of an important new service. This online support group for gay men living with prostate cancer will provide new opportunities to challenge taboos and anxieties and to develop mutual support, confidence and knowledge.”

The next session will take place on 16th November 2018
