They’ll talk about it always, the summer of 2017 – well that is until the next freak weatherwave happens… Anyone looking forward to this winter’s Snowmageddon?
Are you having trouble sleeping during the heatwave? Well, Max Wiseberg of HayMax has come up with these five tips to help you drift off to a restful sleep regardless of the heat outside and the pollen count.
Max comments, “Staying cool is the key to a good night’s sleep and if you’re a hay fever sufferer like me, avoiding the pollen too.
And freeze
Try putting your pillowcase in the fridge so that it’s cool! Some people swear by chilling all of their sheets, but that sounds extreme…
Get wet
Shower before bed. A cool shower will help to cool you down from a day in the sun. And it will help to remove pollen from your hair and body.
Jug it
Keep a jug of cool water next to the bed.
Breezy does it
Opening a window at the front and back of the house can provide a cooling breeze. Be sure not to do this until late evening though, because early evening brings high pollen counts as the atmosphere begins to cool and pollen settles back down to the ground.
The nose have it…
Apply an organic, drug-free allergen barrier balm, such as HayMax, to the nostrils and around the bones of the eyes before you go to bed, to block pollen before it enters the body. HayMax has been proven to trap over one-third of pollen grains before they enter the body.”
Organisers of Essex Pride have promised to provide extra security following on from terror attacks in London and Manchester.
Essex Pride organisers have said there will be “tight” security at this year’s pride event and that the whole event will be manned by an experienced security team following on from the terrorist atrocities in London and Manchester. Essex Police will also be in attendance during the event which takes place on the 24th June in Chelmsford.
Speaking about the attacks a statement on the Essex Pride website states,
“Following the recent terrorism attacks in London and Manchester, we at Essex Pride have all those affected and their families in our thoughts. We would like to give our reassurance that the security arrangements at Essex Pride will be tight and that we take your safety at the event seriously.
“We are appalled by the recent events but feel it is important to not give in to these types of threats.
“We will be continuing to work with the police and the authorities to make sure Essex Pride remains safe, as we did last year after the Orlando attacks. We know this reassurance will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable day at Essex Pride.”
The organisers have said that those who bring bags into the event will be required to go through bag search lines and have suggested that patrons avoid bringing bags to speed up the process of entry to Chelmsford’s Central Park on Saturday.
This worrying graphic shows how the DUP voted on same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland in 2015.
As you can see all other parties in Northern Ireland voted positivity for gay marriage, however only the Unionists voted against same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage has come up for voting four times. Each time it is voted down.
96 MLAs took part in a vote for same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland, 49 of them voted against the Sinn Féin promoted motion, despite a Belfast Telegraph poll in September 2014, showing that a majority of the Northern Ireland population supporting same-sex marriage. 40.1 percent of those surveyed supported equal marriage, while 39.4% opposed it. 20.5% had no opinion on it either way.
With Sinn Féin, SDLP and five Alliance MLA’s supporting the proposal, the DUP and Unionists road blocked the bill which would see all LGBs given equality in marriage.
All DUP members voted against it and of 53 unionists, just four voted in favour.
The LGBTQ2 is not a widely used acronym and is not widely used outside Canada. However, its popularity is on the rise.
The 2 in LGBTQ2 stands for ‘two-spirit’. It is an umbrella term for being a “two spirit” described as a Native (North) American who identifies as non-binary, non-cisgendered or genderqueer. It could also refer to someone who identifies as non-heterosexual. It is used to describe certain spiritual people. It is not interchangeable with LGBT Native American.
Wikipedia explains, “it is a sacred, spiritual and ceremonial role that is recognised and confirmed by the Elders of the Two Spirit’s ceremonial community. While some have found the term a useful tool for intertribal organising, not all Native cultures conceptualise gender or sexuality this way, and most tribes use names in their own languages.”
It was adopted in 1990 to replace an outdated and now considered offensive term.
The term is not widely used outside North America.

Speaking her mind, Lady Bunny just let it rip about identity politics in the LGBT+ community.
“Let’s admit right now that we
hate each other as a community”
Taking to Facebook Lady Bunny said,
“Let’s cancel gay pride! Instead, let’s just fight over the f**king flag this year! Let’s fight over the correct terms for everybody. Let’s dismiss everyone who doesn’t want to transition as a privileged cisgender. Let’s spar over the name of our own damn community–is it gay, LGBT, LGBTQ, LGBTQIA or did we bring back two spirits yet? I also saw a Y in there recently and have no idea what that even is.
Let’s admit right now that we hate each other as a community, and that we’re too ungrateful to celebrate the freedoms which we do have once a year. Let’s compartmentalize ourselves into bears, twinks, butches, femmes, trans, tops, bottoms and those who claim they have no gender to further divide an already small community which does not have rights to equal housing and employment. And we’re even barred from using the bathrooms of their choice in some states!
“Let’s boil it down to the tiniest arguments
which will mean nothing in six months or even six days.”
That’s a surefire way to make sure we’ll never get equal rights. Let’s boil it down to the tiniest arguments which will mean nothing in six months or even six days. If we took the energy and vitriol we reserved to pounce on one flag variation in one city and turned it on those who seek to destroy our rights, we’d be running the world tomorrow and we’d all have gorgeous new hairstyles to boot.
And in our supreme jadedness of which I am also guilty, let’s try and remember that there are young members of our own tribe who have gotten nothing but soul-destroying messages from their schoolmates, their churches, and even from their families. Do they need our help? They need to see large groups of their own tribe in a festive environment so that they don’t feel so alone. They need to see happy and proud gay, lesbian, transsexual and every color of the rainbow folk actually liking and supporting each other.
Or would youth even want to join this community if they saw the way we’ve been acting lately?”

Speaking about working with Duncan, Adam said in a recent interview,
“It’s been funny – I’ve known Duncan for years. When I first got the part and they mentioned that Kyle would be gay, I was like, “Oh, that’s fine as long as it’s not with Duncan…” because he was such a good mate. They were like, “Erm… well it is with Duncan”. [laughs] In some respect, you think it’s going to be really awkward because I’d known him for so long, but then at the same time it was really good because he’s such a nice guy and we are good mates! So, my first ever boy-on-boy kiss was with Duncan from Blue! That’s definitely a benchmark! [laughs]”
Justin Trudeau is one of the most talked about leaders of the world – and is notable for his positive and progressive stance on LGBT+ issues and rights.
Justin Trudeau entered into power as Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister in November 2015. Since his time in power he has been at the forefront of LGBT+ equality in Canada has been a clear advocate for the LGBT+ community.
He made history by walking in Vancouver Pride, the first Canadian Prime Minister to do so. He issued a sweeping apology for historic gay convictions and his Government is also considering gender neutral ID card for its citizens. In March 2016 Canada became the third country in the world to approve the anti-HIV drug, PrEP, for use in the communities which need it the most.
In 2016 the pride flag was flown for the first time from Parliament Hill.
During his premiership, a vote took place on the gender bias of Canada’s national. A bill passed by 225 votes to 74 to change lyrics of the anthem. The line “True patriot love in all thy sons command”, will be scrapped and replaced with, “True patriot love in all of us command”.
