  • What does LGBTQ2 stand for?

The LGBTQ2 is an acronym mostly widely used in Canada and other parts of North America.

    What does LGBTQ2 stand for?
It’s becoming increasingly popular but what does LGBTQ2 stand for?

Outside Canada LGBTQ2 is not in wide use, its origins are a means of identifying some Native (North) Americans. However due, in part, to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau its use has become popularised.

The 2 in LGBTQ2 stands for ‘two-spirit’. It is an umbrella term for being a “two spirit” described as a Native (North) American who identifies as non-binary, non-cisgendered or genderqueer. It could also refer to someone who identifies as non-heterosexual. It is used to describe certain spiritual people. It is not interchangeable with LGBT Native American.

Wikipedia explains, “it is a sacred, spiritual and ceremonial role that is recognised and confirmed by the Elders of the Two Spirit’s ceremonial community. While some have found the term a useful tool for intertribal organising, not all Native cultures conceptualise gender or sexuality this way, and most tribes use names in their own languages.”

    The L stands for Lesbian

    The G stands for Gay

    The B stands for Bisexual

    The T stands for Trans

The Q stands for Queer (use with caution) or Questioning

    The 2 stands for two-spirit

It was adopted in 1990 to replace an outdated and now considered offensive term.

The term is not widely used outside North America.

  • Can “Anal Examinations” prove someone is gay?

There’s been a change in the law in the African country of Kenya, which forbids a cruel and inaccurate medical procedure to determine if someone is gay or not.

There are over 70 countries in the world where homosexuality or sex between two men is illegal. Some of those countries have been known to force people suspected of being gay to have anal examinations.

    What is an anal exam?

An anal examination would involve a doctor or other authority figure stripping someone, forcing them into a position to expose their anus and looking at the outside of their anus to determine whether that person had had anal sex.

There is a belief that the anus looks different if anal sex has taken place.

Some people who have experienced this cruel and humiliating practice have also spoken out about how fingers or other instruments were inserted into their anuses to determine the virginity of their rectums.

These tests are rarely done in private and may have several people present whilst the exam takes place.

    Outdated

In practice, this sort of test is outdated and rarely, if ever, accurate. According to the Human Rights Watch, the test was discredited in the 19th century and note that many people who are forced to have these examines live with lasting psychological trauma.

The biggest lie in the history of medicine.

Doctor Sami Kawas, a forensic doctor says, “It is completely unreliable. Anal exam cannot tell you if you’re a homosexual or not whether you’re passive or you’re active this is the biggest lie ever created in the history of medicine”.

WATCH: This video includes testimony from people who were forced to take an anal examination.

Sticking anything inside someone’s anus, into their anal canal without their explicit consent would surely constitute a form of sexual assault.

Despite this anal examination outcomes are used in the prosecution of men suspected of having same-sex sex. HRW count Egypt and Tunisia as examples of countries that use this evidence to prosecute. A report is prepared and used in court as a form of evidence.

  • What is Bi Erasure?

    What is Bi Erasure?

    What is Bi Erasure?

Bi Erasure is a form of erasure directed towards the bisexual community It can take many forms including when society sidelines bisexual stories for gay or lesbian stories.

Bi Erasure is also the ignoring or rewriting of LGBT+ history where bisexual people of note are effectively erased from the LGBT+ movement.

Bi erasure also happens whenever “gay” is used where the subject could also involve bisexual people. For instance, if you use “gay pride” to describe an LGBT+ Pride or “gay marriage” if you mean same-sex marriage, you are effectively erasing bisexual people’s existence.

It can also happen if “straight” or heterosexual relationships are treated as the default in any given situation, which can also be classed as heteronormative.

At its most extreme, bi-erasure happens when someone denies the existence of bisexual people altogether.

According to The Sun, a source close to the Daytime judge, “It’s very sad news but Rob is separating from his partner of 11-and-a-half-years.

“He’s very upset about the situation, but the split is amicable and no one else is involved.

  • What gay magazines are in the UK?

The UK’s magazine business isn’t what it used to be but there are few LGBT magazines in circulation.

It goes without saying the two main print competitors for the male gay market are Attitude and Gay Times.

Gay Times is the oldest of the two and is independently owned by a new owner, James Frost. Attitude started life as a magazine created by the publishing giant and Richard Desmond-owned Northern And Shell.

Winq is a relative newcomer to the UK market, although it is a much bigger brand in mainland Europe, but has been swallowed up by Attitude – and the two will be merged into one, bigger magazine.

There are a number of regional magazines including the two London weeklies, Boyz and QX Magazine. These titles focus mainly on listings and bar/scene news. There is also the free sexual magazine produced by GMFA called FS.

In Scotland, there is ScotsGay. In the Midlands, there is Midland Zone.

For lesbian media, there is only one magazine – Diva, which is printed month.

Online wise, THEGAYUK is the UK’s biggest listings, lifestyle and social independently owned brand. Combining a social media network along with its editorial and free listings.

News sites include PinkNews – which is by far large the biggest in terms of hits, followed by GayStarNews. There is also OutNews, SoSoGay and Vada Magazine.

Previously the UK had a number of national magazines, which have since become defunct. There was AXM, Bent (although an online shop still exists), Fluid, G3, Out In The City and The Pink Paper, just to name a few.

  • Is Danyl Johnson from the Postcode Lottery gay?

You may have noticed that former X Factor star is now appearing in the Postcode Lottery adverts, we recently spoke to him about how he came out and why he’s no good at one night stands.

Although it was originally thought that former X Factor star Danyl Johnson was bisexual he recently told us that he is in fact gay. If you don’t remember the story, Danyl’s “coming out” became one of the most controversial moments of TV ever, when it appeared that Dannii Minogue, who was a judge on the X Factor at the time, outted him, over his use of opposite sex pronouns during a song.

He told us that he first knew he was gay from the age of eight but came out to his parents when he was 17-years-old.

So what does he look for in a date?

He told us that he’s not into one night stands, he said, “I cannot do one night stands. I’m particularly sh*tty at doing that.

“I cannot just randomly hook up with people. I have to actually know them and know their middle name, and know what school they went to and how many brothers and sisters they have. It’s just f**king stupid stuff. I think I can name every single person I’ve ever slept with. Their surname and what their dog is called. Just because I need to have a background on people. I cannot just sleep with weird people.”
