  • When will the X Factor 2017 start and who is judging it this year?

Summer 2017 sees the return of one Britain’s most popular show, the X Factor. When does it start, who is hosting it and who are the judges?

when does the new series of X Factor start?

Simon Cowell has already hinted that there will be many new surprises to delight and retain viewers.

After last year’s dismal ratings, Simon Cowell has hinted that there will be many changes to the 2017 format of X Factor, including a new location for auditions, six weeks of live shows instead of 10 and no more novelty acts, like Honey G, that have blighted the show for years. For fans of the Jukebox, it will not be returning to the 2017 series after Simon ruled it out in July.

When does X Factor 2017 start?

Although the show’s first episode air date has not yet been announced, you can expect it to be at the end of August. This is when the show usually starts and takes viewers right up until Christmas. It has historically launched on the last weekend of August. Dermot O’Leary is returning for hosting duties.

Who is judging the X Factor 2017?

Don’t expect too many changes to the lineup from 2016. Simon, Nicole, Sharon and Louis Walsh will all be returning, however, there are rumours that several guest judges will be making a stop to shake things up.

After years of fixing and rejigging the judging panel, this is the first time that the show will have exactly the same judging panel as the previous year. A source said that the “chemistry was perfect” among the judges.

Where will the Judge’s Houses be in this year’s X Factor?

As always, the location of the judge’s houses is a secret – you’ll have to wait until the shows to find out more.

Who won last year’s X Factor?

In case you’ve forgotten – so much has happened since last year’s finale, Matt Terry won out the series – followed by Saara Alto.

  • What times is Against The Law on BBC 2 and what is it about?

To mark the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales, BBC 2 will be broadcasting Against The Law tonight.

What times is Against The Law on BBC 2 and what is it about?

As part of their “Gay Britannia” season, the BBC will be broadcasting one of their flagship productions, Against The Law.

Daniel Mays (Line Of Duty, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Public Enemies) stars in BBC Two’s powerful factual drama as Peter Wildeblood, a thoughtful and private gay journalist whose lover Eddie McNally (played by newcomer to television, Richard Gadd), under pressure from the authorities, turned Queen’s evidence against him in one of the most explosive court cases of the 1950s – the infamous Montagu Trial.

When does Against The Law air on BBC 2?

BBC 2 will be broadcasting the show tonight from 9 PM. The show is 1 hour and 20 minutes and will be available to stream from the BBC iPlayer after the broadcast.

What is Against The Law about?

More than ten years before the partial decriminalisation of homosexual acts in 1967, Peter Wildeblood, and his friends Lord Montagu (Mark Edel-Hunt) and Michael Pitt-Rivers, were found guilty of homosexual offences and jailed.

With his career in tatters and his private life painfully exposed, Wildeblood began his sentence a broken man, but he emerged from Wormwood Scrubs a year later determined to do all he could to change the way these draconian laws against homosexuality impacted on the lives of men like him.

The drama also features Mark Gatiss (TabooSherlock) as Wildeblood’s prison psychiatrist, Doctor Landers and Charlie Creed-Miles (Ripper Street, Peaky Blinders) as Superintendent Jones.

Woven through this powerful drama is real-life testimony from a chorus of men who lived through those dark days, when homosexuals were routinely imprisoned or forced to undergo chemical aversion therapy in an attempt to cure them of their “condition”. There is also testimony from a retired police officer whose job it was to enforce these laws, and a former psychiatric nurse who administered the so-called cures. All of these accounts serve to amplify the themes of the drama and help to immerse us in the reality of a dark chapter in our recent past, a past still within the reach of living memory.

Who stars in Against The Law?

The show stars Sherlock’s Mark Gatiss, as well as Charlie Creed-Miles who starred in Ripper Street. The show also has Daniel Mays and Richard Gadd.

  • People really want a gay version of Love Island – with one condition

It seems that a gay version of ITV 2’s runaway hit, Love Island would go down a storm – but people are asking for it on one condition…

People really want a gay version of Love Island - with one condition

People have asked for “ordinary guys”

Apparently, TV execs are eyeing up a gay version of ITV 2’s runaway hit series Love Island after the creator, Richard Cowes said he’d love to see a man on man version of the show but said that trying to mix the two versions would be difficult. The show although praised for its entertainment value has failed in representing LGBT+ relationships.

However, on the back of that news, THEGAYUK’s readers seem well up for a gay version as long as the guy they chose reflect the real bodies of people.

The men on this season of Love Island have certainly got pulses racing, but how representative are they to the average population? Numerous commentators on our original story praised the idea of a gay version of the show but begged for “less sculpted”  and a “cross section of guys” to be represented. People loved the idea that “someone like me” should be represented by the contestants.

  • There could be a gay Love Island

And we’re totally open for that.

There could be a gay Love Island

Apparently TV execs are eyeing up a gay version of ITV 2’s runaway hit series Love Island after the creator, Richard Cowes said he’d love to see a man on man version of the show but said that trying to mix the two versions would be difficult. The show although praised for its entertainment value has failed in representing LGBT+ relationships.

Love Island has been an absolute ratings winner for ITV 2 with many calling it a “guilty pleasure” despite the hundreds of complaints the show has attracted since its launch.

A spokesperson for the show told Digital Spy,

“The main stipulation for Love Island applicants is that they are single and looking for love, and we are open to all possibilities.”

    Bromance wins out again

This year viewers have been obsessed by the relationship that grew between two male contestants, Chris and Kem with many fans calling the bromance between the pair the real winner of the series.

The pair were so enamoured with each other that they decided to shave each other’s initials into their pubic hair.
