The coroner in the death of pop star Timmy Matley, who was 36 at the time of his death, from the vocal group The Overtones died after falling from the 13th floor of a tower block in London. The post-mortem also revealed that there was Crystal Meth in his system when he died.

When he died in April, many fans suspected that he had succumbed to cancer he had been battling. However these new details show that the death was an accidental fall. He was diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma in 2016.

Poplar Coroner’s Court confirmed to Mirror Online that the singer died in a “drug-related incident”.

The inquest heard that the singer was at a friend’s flat. He apparently locked himself out on the balcony. The Daily Mail reports, that he tried to climb down before falling to his death.

    Timmy far right.

Taking to their Twitter account, The Overtones wrote, “We will not be making any comment other than to say that Timmy, our funny, talented, beautiful friend was dearly loved and he is deeply missed.”

Speaking to THEGAYUK in 2013, Timmy spoked passionately about LGBT representation in the music industry and the part that The Overtones played in that saying, “I’m so proud of where we’re at and that we can, as a band, do an interview with you and talk about it first of all, and for there to be no mention about it or strategy at the label. It’s 2013 and we’re so comfortable in our workplace. To be who we are. We’re never told to be anything else but ourselves and I’m very proud of that. We never get any jip for it. When we first started I was a bit nervous.”

He was best known for singing the high notes in the band.

He was diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma in 2016, however, it’s not clear how Timmy died.

Speaking to THEGAYUK.com in 2013, Timmy spoke about sexuality (three of the five members of the band were gay) stating, “I’m so proud of where we’re at and that we can, as a band, do an interview with you and talk about it first of all, and for there to be no mention about it or strategy at the label. It’s 2013 and we’re so comfortable in our workplace. To be who we are. We’re never told to be anything else but ourselves and I’m very proud of that. We never get any jip for it. • Overtones Take Over ITV With Sweet Soul Music

Dapper Overtones are taking over ITV as they promo their new album Sweet Soul Music.

The supergroup, of which 3 are of the man loving variety, are due to sing on This Morning. In a recent interview with THEGAYUK, the boys undertook a How Gay Is interview where we revealed that Lachie, would love to be Belle from Beauty And Beast, as he loves dancing with big hairy men. (Don’t we all)

We also found out that Timmy Matley, the band’s loveable lead singer, doesn’t think Katie Hopkins is a gay icon.

The Warner five-some recorded River Deep Mountain High with X Factor winner Sam Bailey, talking about the recording Darren Everest from Essex said, “She’s cool man, she’s a really cool girl. Really down to earth, loves a chat… We just sat there for two hours and we’re like, ‘we should probably do some singing now…’ It was really cool to see her and Lachie go in, they had a mic each when they were doing their leads. It was like one big sing off. It was really cool. She was heavily pregnant and we were a bit like, as she was hitting them high notes, ‘I hope she doesn’t pop…’”

  • Katie Hopkins Is NOT A Gay Icon, Overtones Rage Over The Thought

In their most recent interview with THEGAYUK, The Overtones were dismayed at the thought of Katie Hopkins being a gay icon.

The Overtones who have just celebrated a top 10 album with Sweet Soul Music, have decried the notion that Katie Hopkins is a gay icon. In their HOW GAY IS? Interview with THEGAYUK, Timmy Matley was asked whether he thought Katie Hopkins was a gay icon… “No… in any shape or form,” was his strong denial of her credentials to being a gay icon. The Overtones have three out and proud gay members, Timmy, Lachie and Mark.

Taking to Twitter numerous times, Katie has tried to stake her claim as a gay icon. One of Katie’s tweets earlier in the year outlines her potential credentials of being a gay icon saying:

“…ambition is to be a gay icon, Hence I wear tan tights with silver shoes (not working x).”

Last month THEGAYUK asked Kavana whether KH had what it takes to be an icon and his response was much more positive.
