Victoria Wood has died in her North London home, her publicist has revealed.

Entertainer, song writer and multi award winning comedian Victoria Wood has died in her north London home after a “short but brave” battle with cancer her publicist has announced.


The BBC have confirmed that Neil Reading, Ms. Wood’s publicist announced that she had passed away peacefully with her family beside her.

It was in the 1980s when Ms. Wood found fame with her TV series Victoria Wood As Seen On TV, but her first break was on a TV show called New Faces in 1974.




 In 2008 she was awarded a CBE.


A message on her Twitter timeline confirmed the sad passing of one of the UK’s most successful female comedians.

Victoria Wood was a prolific writer and created hit shows such as Acorn Antiques and Dinnerladies which featured her long-time collaborator Julie Walters.
