She came out at around the same time on Oprah. It was a time when most TV stars were firmly in the closet. Instead of damaging her career, the move went on to cement Ellen in the hearts of millions of Americans.
Today Ellen is one of the most successful people in show business and is worth hundreds of millions of dolloars.
