14 people who would make great UK Drag Race judges

Here are 14 people who we’re keen to see judging.

    Geri Horner (Halliwell)

Let’s be honest, Geri is essentially a gay man trapped in a woman’s body and has been offering the British public some of the most outrageous outfits ever in pop culture. Judging a bunch of drag queens is what Geri was born to do…well, except be a Spice Girl.

    Sharon Osbourne

    CREDIT: Joe Seer / Bigstock

Every X Factor viewer pines for her and after years of being married to Ozzy Osbourne, she’s probably quite good with advice on how to apply a lot of makeup. Just have to hope Dannii Minogue isn’t asked to guest judge the same week…

    Louis Walsh

If we have Sharon, then we need to bring in Louis. The love or loathe panellist with X Factor on ice that, of course, leaves him open to new career ventures. Maybe he could manage the winning Queen?

    Joan Collins

A national treasure and the Queen of Soap Opera, Dame Joan Collins’ Dynasty shoulder pads were enough to drive any drag queen wild with desire. Her quintessentially 80’s style would definitely offer some inspiration to the contestants.

    Judge Rinder

Having his own show on ITV start last year, Robert Rinder is used to being a no-nonsense judge to the masses however, would he be able to handle a drag queen? There’s a high chance they may not take his criticism as easily.

    Janet Street-Porter

The iconic fleet street journo has more than a reputation for speaking her mind on just about anything so let’s so what she thinks of some of the UK’s top drag artists.

    Ed Balls

Having been an advocate of gay rights during his time in Westminster, Ed Balls lost his seat in a bloodbath of an election defeat for Labour. He’s since said he’s considering Strictly Come Dancing but what about he does something with a little more class?

    Tan France

    Queer Eye

With numerous TV shows, like Queer Eye, under his belt, including his time judging on Next In Fashion, Tan’s unique fashion sensibilities and calming influence would be perfect.

    Lily Allen

As with Janet, Lily is someone who rarely misses an opportunity to voice her opinion and when it comes to the gay community, she’s a bit of an icon – having gone as far to record a song called ‘Fag Hag’.

    Boy George

Ok, so if he doesn’t do it, could we at least have a ‘Lip Sync For Your Life’ round including Karma Chameleon? It would be absolute perfection.

    Kim Cattrall

Sex And The City is nothing without one of our best acting exports, Kim Cattrall. It would be a dream to have her on the panel, especially if she was able to remember some of Samantha’s best put-downs for the show.

    Julian Clary

    Julian Clary

The original gay stand up has already done Strictly and Celebrity Big Brother as a contestant so perhaps it is time for him to turn his attention to being a judge instead. His hilarious digs had us all laughing the 90’s so perhaps a stint on Drag Race could be the trick for a much-needed career resurrection?

    Barbara Windsor

Now, this would be perfect, a soapstar round. I’m thinking Madge Bishop, Bet Lynch, Pat Butcher but, most importantly Peggy Mitchell played by this national treasure. Our tellies have lacked the fun that Barbara offered to Eastenders since her departure in 2011. Moreover, we’d love to see her up against RuPaul…”GET OUT OF MY MAKE UP STUDIO”

Simon Cowell’s BFFL who only really has to work for a few weeks in autumn. The X Factor’s no.1 novelty staple could do with actually making it onto the judging panel for once instead of merely being a mentor.

  • People are calling out Louis Walsh for grabbing Mel B’s bum

People on Twitter are calling out Louis Walsh after patting her bum live on national TV.

The clip, which has surfaced on Twitter was taken from an X Factor roundup show a few years ago and shows judge, Louis Walsh patting the former Spice Girl’s behind. The clip has been watched over 4.5 million times on the social platform.

After Mel B calls out Walsh on why he is touching her inappropriately, Simon Cowell is seen joking to Mel,  “you’re safe” which some have found to be problematic. Louis says he was doing it to “look after” the star.

“Why are you grabbing my butt”

During the interview, Walsh can be seen tapping the singer’s butt while Mel B starts to look uncomfortable and looks off-screen before confronting Walsh. She then stops the interview, mid-flow and asks Walsh directly, “Why are you grabbing my butt?”.

Walsh replies, “I’m looking after Mel.”

Simon Cowell, whose company Syco owns the format for the show, jokes, “honestly you’re safe”.

After Mel calls Walsh out, she physically moves herself away from Louis, before the interview continues.

People are now calling on TV execs to remove him from TV shows and for Walsh to apologise for his actions. Unrelated, it was announced that Louis Walsh would not be returning to judge The X Factor for this year’s show.

Many people have assumed that Walsh is gay, but in 2013 in an interview with the Sunday Times, when asked whether he was gay or straight he replied, “I can’t… Don’t go there. I can’t. I think your private life is your private life…I’m happy. Happy as Larry!”

He’s never been married and has never publicly acknowledged anyone as a partner, however, he was spotted by one of our showbiz insiders at the Balans restaurant in South Beach, Florida, accompanied by a lovely looking tall dark and handsome type a few years back.

THEGAYUK.com reached out ITV for comment.

  • Is Louis Walsh gay?

The king of X Factor judges, Louis Walsh is back in one of the most famous seats in Britain.

One of the things that many of our readers ask about Louis Walsh is about his sexuality. Louis himself has remained elusive about who he’s had relationships with – despite being asked, by many publications. So here’s what we found out about Louis…

    1)  Is he gay? Scores of people visit THEGAYUK’s website each week during The X Factor looking to find out if Louis Walsh is gay. Well, he’s remained tight-lipped about his love life. He’s often deflected questions when asked about his romantic life.

In 2013 in an interview with the Sunday Times, when asked whether he was gay or straight he replied, “I can’t… Don’t go there.

Has Louis Walsh had plastic surgery?

Botox? Has his face been freshened up? Is Sharon the only judge on this year’s show not to have been freshened up? In 2015 he told the Daily Mail that he hadn’t had botox, but that he had had a hair transplant. However, in 2009 the Mirror reported that he had in fact gone under the knife. So which are we to believe. Well, he certainly looks fresher now than he did in 2007.

    How old is Louis Walsh?

He’s the oldest judge on X Factor, he’s currently 65. Mrs O is a year young at 64. Then Simon at 57 and Nicole’s the baby at 39.

What was Louis Walsh’s first job?

The first job was pulling pints at an establishment called the Blues Inn. Although we really can’t see him as the next Peggy Mitchell can you?

Who is Louis Walsh a fan of?

Joan Rivers fan. Apparently, Louis Walsh was besotted with gay icon Joan Rivers. If he could have any three celebs over dinner he’d apparent pic Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Joan Rivers. Well, two out of three isn’t bad going.

  • Surprise… Louis got the boys

Well, it’s that time of year again… Where the X Factor contestants are carved up like meat and slung to the judges… This time round Louis got the boys.

The boys stand waiting for their mentor to make an entrance. They have no idea that Louis is behind the door – and could lead them to X Factor victory.

In a change to the norm, Louis Walsh got the boys this year, having only officially had them once before – he also had the under 25s in one of the first shows, before the boys became their own category.

This year, though, Louis is in with a good chance of winning the series, as the boys’ category has tended to do well with the voting audience at home, with the category winning six times, more than any other category in the competition.

Surprise lads! Louis is your mentor!

Louis gives the boys a pep talk… Let the battle commence.

Usually, Louis – the longest-serving judge on the X Factor, mentors the groups, having done so 6 times in the past. Louis has taken part in every season of the X Factor, apart from two years ago, when he was replaced by Nick Grimshaw in a massive programme shakeup.

However, he and Sharon Osborne were reunited last year – when the show’s execs decided to bring back the original judging line up.

The boys will now, have to go through the six chair challenge and then be taken to the judge’s houses where they will have to impress Louis and a guest judge before they are able to appear on the live shows.

  • You won’t believe what’s on Louis Walsh’s X FACTOR rider

As the longest serving judge – Louis Walsh deserves some perks…

You won't believe what's on Louis Walsh's X FACTOR rider

Apparently, between them, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne’s show rider for the X Factor could make “Mariah Carey’s look sad” according to show boss, Simon Cowell…

So what is on their riders?

Well according to the Sun, Simon said that Mrs O requires a “fleet of Aeroplanes” to fly her in for the show. She spends her time inbetween shows at her US home.

Simon then joked that Louis’s was even more extreme – requiring a “cosmetic doctor on 24hr standby within 10 miles of whatever venue we’re filming in.”

We’re not sure if Simon’s telling the truth there or not – apparently, Louis has said that he’s never had botox but did admit to having a hair transplant in 2015.

It seems as though “casual homophobia” is the new thing for Saturday night TV. Last night Peter Kay, whilst on the BBC, was blasted on social media for a joke some decided was homophobic and over on ITV Simon Cowell, once again, made a comment alluding to Louis Walsh‘s sexuality and viewers are starting to notice the frequency at which it happens.

In Saturday’s (19th Nov) broadcast of the X Factor, Simon Cowell questions why Louis might like Matt Terry over Ryan Lawrie, after the 64-year-old judge told Ryan that Matt was better than him. Simon’s response, it seems, was done in such a way that many people took to Twitter to call him out on his “gay jibes”.

A couple of weeks ago another comment by Simon prompted huge speculation over Louis’s sexuality. During the critique of Matt Terry’s performance of “I’m Your Man”, which Louis thought was “a bit karaoke”, Simon aimed his critique at Louis saying, “This is the first time Louis has said I don’t like I’m Your Man.”

This isn’t the first time Simon has made jokes with someone’s sexuality as the butt of the joke (pun intended). During a live Xtra Factor broadcast, Simon asked Rylan Clark-Neal whether he liked the backdoor.

  • Did Simon Walsh out Louis Walsh?

X Factor fans think that Simon Cowell has just outed Louis Walsh.

Simon Cowell and his gay jokes… Whatever next? Some X Factor fans think that the music mogul outed Louis Walsh as gay on Saturday’s episode of the show.

During Louis’s criticism of show favourite Matt Terry, the ex-Jedward manager said that he found the performance of Wham!’s “I’m Your Man”, to be a little bit karaoke.

When it was Simon’s turn to make comment on the performance, he aimed his critique at Louis saying, “This is the first time Louis has said I don’t like I’m Your Man.”

Natch, Twitter went into overdrive with speculation sending thousands of people to THEGAYUK.com to search whether Louis Walsh was gay or now. In fact, searches for Louis Walsh surged 3029 per cent on Saturday night.

This is not the first time Simon has used homosexual for laughs, a few weeks ago he rather inappropriately asked whether Rylan Clark liked the “backdoor” during the Xtra Factor post-show summary.

Louis Walsh has remained, famously, tight-lipped over the rumours of his sexuality. In 2013 in an interview with the Sunday Times, when asked whether he was gay or straight he replied, “I can’t… Don’t go there. I can’t. I think your private life is your private life…I’m happy. Happy as Larry!”

  • Louis Walsh attracts VILE homophobic comments after putting through gay act

Many viewers of the X Factor were not happy with Louis Walsh when he put camp act Bradley and Ottavio through to the live shows in last night’s episode. Some of those viewers went on to write about their distaste of Louis and the act using vile homophobic language.

Some of those viewers wrote about their distaste of Louis and Bradley and Ottavio, on Twitter and used homophobic language calling the stalwart judge a number of homophobic slurs including, “faggot” and “batty”.

Some users questioned his sexuality for putting the two men into the competition.

Speaking to Woman’s Own this week the music mogul said the camp twins who appeared in 2009’s series of X FACTOR revealed that they were his most embarrassing career move, despite championing them and praising them highly on the show. They came sixth on the show and have a relatively successful career that’s seen them release 3 albums and even represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Sources have hinted that Louis could be returning to the X Factor for the next series along with Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell – although the judging panel has not yet been disclosed.

The move would see the three original judges return to the show, something which TV execs are hoping will save the show’s popularity, which suffered its worst ratings ever last series.
