The Gays are taking over the BBC for Eurovision

Scott Mills and Rylan are both hosting Eurovision Night on BBC Radio 2 while Paddy O’Connell broadcasts the semis.

BBC Radio 2 – the home of Eurovision 2023 on UK radio – today announces that Scott Mills and Rylan will be the station’s presenters for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Grand Final which will be broadcast live on Radio 2 on Saturday 13th May. And for the very first time, Radio 2 will also broadcast the Eurovision semi-finals, which will be presented by Paddy O’Connell

Eurovision superfans and Radio 2 presenters, Scott and Rylan – who have been involved in Eurovision coverage for many years – will be bringing their insightful and colourful commentary to the Grand Final on the network, broadcasting live from the centre of the action at Liverpool Arena. The UK is hosting the 2023 event on behalf of the 2022 winners, Ukraine. It will be the culmination of a week in the city for Scott and Rylan, as they are also providing TV commentary for the Semi Finals – both of which, for the first time in the UK’s Eurovision Song Contest history, will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Meanwhile, Scott’s afternoon show (Tuesday to Friday, 2-4pm) on Radio 2 will be coming from Liverpool all week, with Richie Anderson hosting the show on Tuesday and Thursday as Scott prepares to host the semi-finals on TV.

For the first time, this year Radio 2 will also be broadcasting the two Eurovision Semi-finals, with Paddy O’Connell hosting the network’s live coverage from the Liverpool Arena. In the first semi-final on Tuesday 9th May (8-10pm), fifteen countries are taking part with ten qualifying for the Grand Final on Saturday night. And on Thursday 11th May, Paddy returns with live coverage from the second of the semi-finals, with sixteen countries taking part and ten qualifying for the Grand Final on Saturday night. These shows will also be simulcast on BBC Radio Merseyside.

Rylan says: “Eurovision is my favourite time of the year, I cannot wait! And I’m so excited and absolutely buzzing to be hosting the Eurovision Grand Final on Radio 2, the biggest and best music event in the world, with my partner-in-crime Scott Mills. We can’t wait to bring listeners closer to the action than ever before, with all the fun, excitement and backstage gossip from what promises to be an unforgettable night.”

Scott says: “I can’t begin to describe how excited I am to be presenting the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on Radio 2. I’ve had the great pleasure of being involved with Eurovision in various ways over the years, from commentating alongside Graham Norton to singing karaoke with the contestants, but presenting from the Grand Final in Liverpool is the ultimate childhood dream come true. Rylan and I will be going all out so please come and join the party live on Radio 2!”

Paddy says: “I’m walking on sunshine to join Radio 2 live in Liverpool hosting the Eurovision semi-finals. Sam Ryder broke the UK Eurovision spell last year and I hope it’s magic for Mae in 2023.”

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, said: “The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be a very special event and who better to host Radio 2’s coverage of the Grand Final than our very own Scott and Rylan. And I’m delighted that for the first time, Radio 2 will be bringing our listeners all the drama and fun from the semi-finals, hosted by Paddy O’Connell. With years of Eurovision experience under his belt, Paddy is the perfect guide for fans and also those who may be discovering Eurovision for the first time.”

  • Rylan suffers homophobic abuse on busy London street

Rylan suffers homophobic abuse on busy London street

TV star Rylan Clark-Neal has hit out at a homophobe who abused him on a busy London street.

Out TV presenter, Rylan has revealed that he was homophobically abused today in central London when someone shouted an anti-gay slur at him on a street, a block away from the world famous head quarters of the BBC. Rylan says he abused on Great Porland street, when an unnamed assailant shouted a homophobic slur at the star.

Taking to Twitter the former X Factor / Celebrity Big Brother star wrote that someone shouted at him to “fuck off” and called him the anti-gay slur “faggot”. However, Rylan alleges that as soon as he shouted back at his abuser, the abuser “ran away”. Rylan joked that the abuser ran like Phoebe from the hit 90’s sitcom, Friends.

Hundreds of fans reached out to Rylan to wish him well after his ordeal – while the British LGBT Awards noted that “The Phoebe run is probably his only redeeming feature”.

Homophobic crime is on the rise the UK’s capital. In 2017 there were, on average around 6 anti-LGBT offences being recorded every day on London’s streets, a 9.63% increase year on year. In total, 2037 crimes were reported for the year 2016/17 compared to 1861 crimes in 2015 /16 and 1559 in 2014/15.

However, the Metropolitan Police service was keen to point out that the crime rates were lower than five years ago and these current statistics are set against the gruelling austerity measures and “significant reductions in resources” set out by this current government.

The openly gay TV presenter Rylan Clark Neal is most known in the UK for his presenting on This Morning and Big Brother’s Big On The Side, but before that he was a singer on X Factor and before that he was on a show called Signed By Katie Price.

    Singing Ambition

After he appeared on Signed By Katie Price he was contacted by multi-platinum songwriter and producer Jake Hook, who invited him to record a single. The pair worked on a song called ‘Slave To The Beat’ with a view to release it to the UK market. Shortly after they worked together, Rylan auditioned for the X Factor and secured a place on the 9th series, where he placed sixth overall.

After X Factor, Rylan went on to star and win the 11th series of Celebrity Big Brother – for which he then became the presenter for its side-kick show, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side a show that he’s now fronted since 2013.

    Boyfriend and Marriage

Rylan started to date Big Brother alumn and former policeman, Dan Neal, who appeared in the 14th series of Big Brother. Dan was evicted on day 44 of the series.

Dan popped the question of marriage to Rylan when they were on a romantic getaway in Paris. Since they’ve been together, Rylan has made it clear that he wants children, but so far the patter of tiny feet eludes the celebrity pair, although Dan has a son from a previous relationship.

Rylan and Dan got engaged in 2014 and finally married in 2015, Rylan’s surname changed to reflect the marriage, from Rylan Clark to Rylan Clark-Neal. Dan also changed his surname to add in Clark.

  • Rylan says he needs a break

Apparently, he’s not been axed from This Morning – he just needs a break.

“I’ve been working constantly for five years,” says the tired presenter. Rylan who found fame on Signed By Katie Price is set to take some time off from ITV after he spoke out about the rumours that he had been fired from This Morning.

Despite revealing that he needed a break, he will be fulfilling his presenting duties on Celebrity Big Brother which starts on the 2nd January on Channel 5.

OUT OF TOUCH? Some have said that Rylan is out of touch after he spoke out about Brexit and said that he needed a rest from constantly working.

Taking to Twitter to battle the axe rumours Rylan wrote, “Rumours in press why I’m ‘leaving’ or been ‘axed’ from @thismorning, Truth is I need a break. I’ve been working constantly for 5 years and I need some time to myself.

“I will still be at Big Bro. I just need to take some time to myself. That’s all. I’ll be back soon xxx”

Needless to say, the revelation that the presenter had been working “constantly” on the five programme a week The Morning, some fans were not impressed. With some comparing their work life to the pampered star – writing, “Try working 20 years for the NHS we could all do with a break!”

The reaction didn’t go down well with Rylan who replied with a gif of himself.

Wait… were Rylan and Matt simulating oral on the Xtra factor?

We have to admit, this one passed us by, as we had stayed on ITV1 to watch the first episode of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here… but what exactly were Rylan and Matt doing on the Xtra Factor?

The Mannequin challenge is the craze that’s sweeping the nation – and much better than the ChristmasTreeChallenge, which George Shelley released launched over the weekend. Well, stars and crew of ITV’s Xtra Factor took part in their very own Mannequin Challenge and it was rather brilliant – despite Olly Murs blinking half way through!

Our only question is what exactly were Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmonson up to?

As the camera pans round it settles on Rylan and Matt in a rather compromising position, with Matt’s crotch in the face of Rylan. As the action begins, Matt is heard saying,  “It’s just sort of flared-up a bit.”

It was one of those totally awkward TV moments. Yes, that moment when one  straight man makes a joke about the “backdoor” with a gay man.

During a segment where judges had to pick a front door from the ones presented on the screen in front of them, Rylan quipped, “I love a front door” to which Simon responded, “I thought you liked back doors?”

The other judges looked shocked and Nicole started to wave her hands in Simon’s face.

Rylan retorted by sashaying over to Simon, sitting on the side of Simon’s desk saying,

“Oh, Simon! Would you like me to show you how much?”

Simon was left red-faced after realising that his joke was in poor taste and after Rylan suggested that he show the judge how much he liked the “backdoor”.

Instantly Simon knew he had taken the joke too far and apologised immediately.

The head judge said, ”I apologise. I shouldn’t have said that – sorry, sorry, sorry.”

It seems as though Rylan Clark despite being married to his gorgeous husband couldn’t get enough of Michelle Visage‘s cleavage.

Michelle Visage said that proudly out TV Star Rylan Clark was particularly “frisky”. She was attending a filming of the XtraFactor, which is hosted by Rylan and Matt Edmonson.  She captioned the picture with a “great night”.

Michelle’s fans were quick to admire the Drag Race judge’s beautiful thigh tattoo with one excited fan exclaiming:

“I want to see the rest of those lace up thigh high boots! Sexy sexy!”

Michelle looked particularly demure, opting, unusually for her, a turtleneck top, to which one fan joked that fellow Drag Race judge Santino would have to win a sewing competition – a reference to a comedy skit performed by Season 7 winner, Bianca Del Rio.
