RESTAURANT REVIEW | The Lost and Found: Bottomless Brunch, Birmingham
★★★★★ – BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH LAUNCHES AT THE LOST & FOUND

The weekends are for great nights and slightly late mornings, and of course good food to awake your spirits, as well as supping on some alcoholic beverages at lunchtime and forgetting the week. The Lost & Found take this occasion seriously with their Bottomless Brunch bonanza.
The choices of Bellinis, Mimosas, Bloody Marys, in any order, are a delightful motivation to get out of bed on a Sunday morning. From 11 AM to 3 PM, you can indulge yourself in as many Prosecco glasses in a two hour booked period. The Bellinis were moreish with a raspberry floating in each glass – having one of my five a day (in abundance). What is lovely about the brunch food menu is that there is something there for any appetite. From delicate porridges to hearty breakfasts, one can take pleasure in eating rich, tasty and well-presented dishes. The hearty ‘English breakfast’ was incredibly delicious with tasty sausages and poached eggs cooked to perfection. My plus one opted for a bun-less ‘Bacon & cheeseburger’ with a fried egg and skinny fries, and according to him the dish was oozing with flavour and juices, and it definitely did not need a bun.
What contributed to the superb event was the Victorian backdrop and out-of-time ambience that The Lost & Found encapsulates very well. The mood is just terrific for a Sunday brunch and chill. Josh looked after us again, and I must say his dedication and attention to detail rivals any other host I have met. Josh took time to explain to us how the menu worked, putting us at ease when making a decision, as well as letting us know in advance that due to staff shortage the meals may take longer than we might expect. Also, Josh made sure we were well and truly Bellini-ed and I was left feeling very fuzzy and cosy sitting comfortably in the booth.
For just £22 per person, you are getting a very good experience with endless drinks for two hours, plus good quality, top-notch food and with an ambience that provides an escape for a weekend.

Katie Hopkins just deleted every tweet she’s ever sent
Self-professed gay icon wannabe, Katie Hopkins has deleted every tweet she’s ever written.

After it was revealed that Katie Hopkins and the Mail Online had “mutually agreed” not extend her contract, Katie Hopkins has deleted every tweet she’s ever sent on the Twitter platform.
The controversial columnist, former radio present and reality TV star has deleted all but some retweets following on from a bumpy 2017 – where she was sued by food writer Jack Monroe for libel, left her radio show on LBC and now seemingly quit the Mail Online.
It is not known why Hopkins deleted her entire catalogue of Tweets. The Mail Online issued a statement to Press Gazette saying, “Katie’s contract was not renewed by mutual consent.”
Following the news of Hopkins’ departure from the Mail Online, her name trended on Twitter. As it stands her Twitter account is still active and she is followed by over 850,000 people.
Hopkins’ left LBC in May 2017, following calls for a boycott of the station from Guardian writer, Owen Jones. He suggested that guests who contributed to the station should withdraw their services until the station removed Hopkins from its roster of presenters.
Following the suicide bombing in Manchester early this year, Katie Hopkins sent a series of tweets from her Twitter account, after a number of terror-related incidents were reported in the aftermath of the bombing. In one tweet she questioned whether it was “Ramadan” yet and called upon “Western men” to “stand up, demand action” and not to carry on as normal.
Hopkins’ moved from writing for The Sun to the Mail Online in November 2015. During her time writing for both outlets, she drew a lot of criticism for her stance on immigration and Islam.

9 Things Only Assholes Do When They Travel
Take your damned laptop out of your cabin bag… creep.
In this golden age of travel, most of the millennial generation have been on international flights by the time they hit puberty. But just because travel is such a regular part of our lives these days, it doesn’t mean that all etiquette should go out the window. It’s very easy to let jet lag and frustration get the better of you, but if you’re doing any of these nine things, then you’re probably a travel asshole and should stop immediately.
Note: This listicle may contain angry ranting and passive aggressive comments from a traveller who gets very irritable when flying.
1. Treating airport and airline staff like crap

andreas160578 / Pixabay We’ve all seen those TV shows in which airport staff are screamed at by angry tourists with a 4-hour delay. But more often than not it’s not their fault. Imagine yourself in their shoes before taking your jet lag-fuelled frustration out on them.
2. Rummaging for your passport when you get to the check-in counter

You’ve been queuing for the last 20 minutes to check in, that’s plenty of time to get out your passport and any other documentation that you know you’ll need when you get to the check-in counter.
You know they need to see your passport, so have it out and ready to speed things up.
3. Leaving liquids in your carry-on

Even if you’ve never flown before, surely you must know that you can’t take liquids in your carry-on luggage.
There are signs saying this pretty much everywhere.
So if you have to take liquids on board, put them in a plastic baggy BEFORE you get to the airport. And please please please, don’t be that jerk who gets all the way to the security check before taking them out of your bag.
What do you think the rest of us have been doing while we queued?!
4. Same with laptops
Now I don’t know why the X-Ray machine needs your laptop to be out of your bag, but it does. So use your time while waiting to take it out (along with your liquids), so you can put it straight in that plastic tub and head straight through.
5. Rushing to board at the gate
Most boarding procedures call up passengers to board based on their zones, so know which one is yours and wait your turn. Those with children and those needing assistance will always board first, but don’t panic; they’re not taking your seat, it’ll still be there for you when you board in a minute. You’re going to be sitting in it for the next few hours, what’s your rush?
6. Blocking the aisles while boarding

You might need to go through your bag to take out your book, snacks, and iPad, but please don’t do it while standing in the aisle.
There are a lot of people trying to get to their seat, and they shouldn’t have to wait for you to find and untangle your headphones before getting past.
7. Using the bathroom while people are boarding
You know what’s more annoying than someone standing in the aisle while 200 people try to board a plane? Someone walking in the opposite direction of 200 people trying to board a flight. Either use the loo before you get on board or hold it until you’re up in the air.
8. Putting your seat back while someone behind you is eating
That’s just a dick move. You’re probably eating too, so sit up straight and let them eat their “delicious” aeroplane meal in peace.
9. Getting up before the seat belt sign has been turned off

Gadini / Pixabay They say this every time, and without fail a load of jerks will jump out of their seats the second the plane touches the ground to clamber for their bags. Wait until it’s safe and then chill out and get your bag.
We’re not going anywhere yet as they haven’t parked the plane, so there’s no need to elbow Grandma out of the way to get your bags before she does.

FILM REVIEW | Beach Rats
★★★★ | Beach Rats

A young man plays it very cool with his friends while he hides his true sexuality in the new film Beach Rats.
19-year old Frankie (Harris Dickinson) lives with his mother and dying father in Brooklyn, New York. His mother constantly nags him to get a job but he spends his days doing drugs and hanging out with his gang of homeboys. They are all very macho and straight and while away the hours hanging out on the boardwalk and chatting up local girls. But what they don’t know about Frankie is that he secretly spends his time on gay hookup sites and meets other men at a local cruising spot for sex.
There is one girl, however, from the neighbourhood (Madeline Weinstein) who he hooks up with – he really likes her and she really likes him, but expectedly it doesn’t go anywhere. And when he gets involved in an incident with his friends that involves a gay man his life suddenly takes a turn.
UK born Dickinson is very good as Frankie. He nails down the accent and the attitude almost perfectly. With no previous film credits, he’s a natural and very compelling to watch on the big screen (and boy is he sexy)! Director Eliza Hittman gets almost everything right in this film, with the exception of the last 20 minutes that gets a bit too unbelievable. But it’s Dickinson you’ll remember when the screen credits go up. He’s on to bigger and better things.

COLUMN | I got knocked down, but I got up again
It is my birthday today. I am 55. I thought I would share with you why I have started to write.

DariuszSankowski / Pixabay My dad died in the summer this year. He had been diagnosed with dementia in the early part of 2016. As a family, we first recognised the signs in December 2015. My sister and mother committed him to a care home in April of this year. His last connections to memory through his environment were taken away from him, and it accelerated his rate of decline. He died before the end of June.
He had vascular dementia. The support received from the Alzheimers charity who help, inform and signpost carers and families coping with all forms of dementia was priceless. They gave us an indication of what to expect and even an optimistic prospect of the journey taking 6-8 years. They warned it would be difficult and was not the same for everyone.
In a matter of around 18 months this illness called dementia ravaged my dad and robbed him of his vocabulary, then his speech, it took his dignity leaving him doubly incontinent, he lost his place in time, and in the end, he lost his life.
I have led a very full life. It has been a cross between a roller coaster ride and a series of car crashes. In my current circumstance, I have nothing, having filed for bankruptcy in January 2014. I live in social housing and because of series of debilitating illnesses can only work part-time. In my life, I have been a very heavy social and private drinker. I would describe myself as a functioning alcoholic.
There is damage to my short-term memory. I have had to put in place strategies to ensure, I switch off the cooker, lock the door and take the right medication at the appropriate time. The issue with my short-term memory is likely to have arisen because of years of alcohol consumption.
My fear is that of losing my memory entirely. Currently, I am no more than the sum of its content. So I started to write about me, about my thoughts, beliefs and recently about my love of cooking. Initially, it was just going to be a file saved on my computer.
I decided to share it all because I live a solitary life. In writing, and some of the stuff I write being published I no longer feel alone. In the last couple of months, writing has become more than a repository of who I am. It has developed into a passion and a pleasure. It is a new journey that is a positive in my life. I needed a hobby, and this has become a very welcome distraction, through which I have recalled and re-experienced aspects of who am and explored my connection to the world I live in.

Austin Armacost full BUSH alert
Austin’s Instagram has become our new playground.

Austin wants you to know he’s gotta a manly bush…
Whilst most of the Celebrity Big Brother star’s body is perfectly manscaped, apart from his rather bushy below-the-belt region – which is giving us a proper 70s vibe. We love it.
The picture also managed to get his fans hot under the collar too… with one exclaiming, “Bit of bush/cock whilst watching crimbo movies, can’t ‘beat’ sat afternoons”.
The naky picture attracted nearly 3500 likes in a matter of hours.

7 first date tips for the 21st century gay guy
Top tips to get ahead and save you from meeting a man like your granddad unless, of course, that is your thing.

Prove the picture is him
If he has a profile photo and you are meeting through an app, right-click the image and google it to make sure it is him.
Name check
If you have a forename and surname back to the search engine and check out social media accounts, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Web trawl
Your research could mean you will be able to cross reference the image to make sure it is current. Find out about his hobbies. Read his posts and find out about likes and dislikes. Check out his family and friends.
Lookout online for Ex’s they will almost certainly have a story to tell or have poured it out all over their timeline and feeds. Follow the trail of crumbs.
Somewhere in all of this, you may find out about his sexual health and preferences.
There may be professional profiles enabling you to look at the work play contrast.
If you still want to meet him and you have not been put off by your research, now is the time to use the insight you have gleaned.
Chat with him before a date
Is the guy a big drinker? If so go for a meal unless you are thinking of loosening him up and getting into the sac.
For a meal, you may already know where he likes to eat or perhaps a favourite food. Coffee or Cognac? All this insider information could make you look intuitive and compatible. Just remember if he knows all there is about you too, it is time to smile at each other and reveal you are both members of Stalkers Anonymous!
“STOP THE BUS!” You will have a foot in the door and established a rapport with these cheats, but now it is time to interact.
First Date Advice

Best advice for a first date is listen and learn. You already know about yourself, so give the guy some time to tell you about him. Wait and see if he wants to learn about and ask about you.
If he loves puppies and brought you flowers (did I mention a small gift as an icebreaker) is attentive and smiles a lot, brushing aside questions about himself, he could be a keeper
Get Out Clause
Have an out option in case he is not for you and the thought of spending another minute with him is hell on earth. I usually have a text ready to send and a friend primed to call me if I am bored, frightened or falling into the whirly pits of despair with a guy on a first date.
Leave the house empty
Finally, before leaving the house, have a wank. There is nothing worse than being so eager for “an empty” that it blurs your senses.
