Now we’re not doctors but, surely injecting semen into any part of your body deserves a conversation that starts with “why” and ends in “nope”.

An unnamed, 33-year-old man in Ireland is ill after injecting himself with his own semen for 18 months in order to treat his bad back. He had been using a hypodermic needle that he had bought online, according to reports.

    (C) Metro

The patient has been left with cellulitis in his arm, after injecting himself once a month in a bid to rid himself of back pain.

He went to a hospital due to his back pain and not the cellulitis which had developed in his arm. He was asked by medical staff what the red rash was on his arm when they were told the somewhat unorthodox medicine.

Metro has reported that Dr Lisa Dunne reported the mishap in the Irish Medical Journal, writing, that this was the first ever case of‘semen injection for use as a medical treatment’ and apparently there have never been any tests to find out what the effects of injecting semen into veins or muscles.

The man apparently then discharged himself from the hospital, before doctors had an opportunity to remove the bodily fluid.

  • HOTEL REVIEW | Hilton Garden Inn Customs House

HOTEL REVIEW | Hilton Garden Inn Customs House

The newest Hilton Hotel in Dublin is the recently acquired Hilton Garden Inn at Customs House. Situated on the river, on the edge of the financial district, the hotel is easy to find from the airport as well as being conveniently situated for shopping and dining.

    Holiday Inn Dublin

The hotel boasts 239 spacious rooms, each with a 40-inch TV screen and mini-bar. The minibar can be stocked easily from a large selection of items at the ‘pavilion pantry’ in the foyer 24 hours a day.
The professional and helpful hotel staff are able to assist you with finding your way around town, though public transport choices are also easy to find near the hotel, with local buses stopping just outside the main door, and the tram system running along the street behind. To help you sort through the many dining options the city has to offer, there is a Dublin Dining magazine including all the restaurants in the city and a map showing their locations.

The hotel itself is a short 20 – 30-minute walk from most of the inner city areas such as Temple Bar, Grafton Street (Dublin’s most famous shopping street), EPIC Ireland museum is within 5 minutes’ walk, and much of Dublin’s main shopping areas are within 20 minutes.

The rooms themselves are spacious with a large comfortable bed, television screen with multiple channels from both Ireland and the UK. The bathrooms are bright and well appointed.

The hotel is a short walk from the majority of Dublin’s gay bars, of which there are a few to choose from, with The George being the only one open past 12pm every night of the week with live drag acts, however it is simple enough to order an Uber and get there quicker for about 5 euro.

It’s a quick cab ride to the area of Temple Bar, where you can find hundreds of restaurants of various styles and varieties. It’s a good idea to check the traffic situation as mid-to-late afternoon traffic runs peak hour right past the hotel, and it might actually be quicker to walk.

To find out more about the hotel, or to make reservations, visit their website.

  • This Man Is Taking Blood Discrimination To The High Court

Tomás Heneghan is taking the Irish Blood Transfusion Service to court because he believes they are discriminating against him and gay men.

The Irish student is taking the IBTS to the high court after they “permanently deferred” him despite being tested negative for any diseases or viruses.

Mr Heneghan, 23, who had been donating blood since he was eighteen, honestly disclosed the fact that he had slept with a man which is when the IBTS “deferred him”, which effectively acts as a ban on donating blood. The IBTS enforces a lifetime ban on any man who has had anal or oral sex with another man.

Mr Heneghan considers giving blood a “civic responsibility” his counsel said.

The European Convention on Human Rights prohibits discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. However, there is a provision for discriminating if it is reasonable and proportionate. Mr Heneghan is arguing that each individual must have an inquiry with regard to whether they can donate to ensure that a blanket ban on gay men giving blood is not discriminatory.

The Irish Times reports that Mr Justice Seamus Noonan is satisfied that this is an appropriate case against the IBTS, the Minister of Health and the State.

  • No Voters Offer CONGRATULATIONS in wake of Irish Gay Marriage Victory.

Anti-Gay marriage groups offer ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ to campaign in wake of Irish Marriage Equality Victory.

Whilst the outcome of yesterday’s historic vote in Ireland was widely predicted, the big surprise of the day was the unprecedented and gracious behaviour of the two main organisations behind the No campaign. When they conceded defeat they both issued statements congratulating the equality side’s victory.

Catholic-based anti-gay marriage activist group Iona Institute, which had aired a series of misleading fear ads ahead of the referendum vote, sent out the following press release:

‘We would like to congratulate the Yes side on winning such a handsome victory in the marriage referendum. They fought a very professional campaign that in truth began long before the official campaign started. For our part, The Iona Institute is proud to have helped represent the many hundreds of thousands of Irish people who would otherwise have had no voice in this referendum because all of the political parties backed a Yes vote.’

Mothers & Fathers Matter, the organisation behind last week’s video featuring two gay men explaining their opposition to same-sex marriage, said:

“We offer our warm congratulations to the YES campaign on their victory. There are thousands of people who worked hard for them to achieve this result, and they can be justifiably happy with their efforts today. Though at times this campaign was unpleasant for people on all sides, nobody who involves themselves in a campaign does so with anything but the good of their country at heart. There is no better way to resolve difference than the way we are using today. From our point of view, we have represented a proportion of the population greater than those who support any political party. One in three Irish people in this campaign was not represented by the political establishment, the media, or the institutions of the state. We are proud to have fought on behalf of those voices when nobody else would. Today’s result was achieved by the Government after they issued certain promises about surrogacy, adoption, and a range of other issues. A lot of voters believed those assurances and they must now be kept.”

  • Results Of Irish Gay Marriage Vote Expected Early PM

After an “abnormally” high turn out, the votes are being counted for the historic same-sex marriage referendum vote in Ireland.

Hundreds of thousands of votes have been cast and with no exit poll it’s difficult to guess what the outcome will be, but pundits are quietly confident that the result is likely to be a Yes, meaning that same-sex couples will be afforded the rights to marry in Ireland.

The same-sex marriage referendum has become worldwide news as countries around the world wait to see the outcome of what will be the first ever-public vote on gay rights. This will be the first time where the rights of a minority group, such as LGBTs has been voted by the public at large.

Pundits have also commented about the sway of votes suggesting that cities are swaying towards a yes, whilst more rural towns and countryside villages are swaying towards a No.

However, one town, Trim in co Meath, which has just over 6000 inhabitants said that it would vote Yes.

The results are expected to be announced at 4PM.
