  • 10 gay and bi guys whose careers boomed at 40

Sometimes it can feel like the world’s media is fixated on the achievements of the under 20s. The careers of those who are beyond the age of 25 don’t seem relevant, well we disagree.

Here are 10 gay and bisexual men whose careers totally bloomed after the age of 40, although some of them were already doing well before that!

Okay so RuPaul was already a star in his twenties, but, during the late 90s and 00s Ru’s career somewhat stalled. However the resurgence of Drag and more importantly, the part that Ru’s show Drag Race has played in giving drag its second wind puts Ru back on top.

Anderson Cooper, News Anchor and Reporter

Although Anderson has always been successful, thanks to his family line, (he’s an heir to the Vanderbilt empire) it wasn’t until he became the news anchor at CNN in 2003 that his star stock took off and he’s become steadily more and more successful since then. He’s now one of the most recognisable faces of news TV.

We tread carefully here, as Giorgio hasn’t come out officially as gay or bisexual, but an interview in Vanity Fair in 2000 shed some light on his sexuality, when he said, “I have had women in my life. And sometimes men”.

Giorgio’s star was late rising. He showcased his first collection in 1975, when he was 41. Giorgio topped our richest list in 2015.

It wasn’t until the 80s that Calvin Klein clothing and the man himself became the fashion king that he is today, after all his company changed the way the world viewed underwear, anyone who has seen those Mark Walberg underwear pictures will know what we’re talking about. Although Calvin had success in his formative years, he was well into his 40s when it was arguably his underwear ranges and fragrances that turned his successes around.

  • Is there now a K in LGBTQQICAPF2K+?

    Is there now a K in LGBTQQICAPF2K+?

This is a new one for us…

There is now a K to add to the ever-growing LGBT+ acronym – and apparently, it stands for “kink”. The acronym which has grown since the 90s, out of a need to move away from the limiting “gay community” adds letters to encompass any community that defines itself as anything but heterosexual or cisgender.

The LGBT initialism was coined in the late 80s / early 90s.

So what do all the letters mean?

    L – lesbian

    G – gay

    B – bisexual

    T – transgender

    Q – queer

    Q – questioning

    I – intersex

    A – asexual

    A – agender

    A – ally

    C – curious

    P – pansexual

    P – polysexual

    F – friends and family

    2 – two-spirit

    K – kink

However, the addition of the K has been met with some reservation from many on the question website, Quora. Users were quick to dismiss Kink as part of the LGBT+ community.

Sarah remarked, “Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t believe that fetishes belong in the same acronym as sexualities and gender identity”.

While Caitlin added, “However, I and others believe that it shouldn’t be included in the acronym. Kink is not inherently non-cis or non-straight, and including it can feed into the stereotype of queer people being “sexual deviants”. BDSM is fine in a community of its own but it’s strange and unnecessary to include it with sexual orientations and gender identities”.

John wrote, “I’m gay, and I do not and will not use this silly LGBTQLAPK sh*t. They keep adding a silly letter for inclusion. You are just labelling yourselves, and that is a silly thing to do.”

*This article has been updated. We have become aware that this article has been used to undermine and denigrate the LGBT+ community.

Although Kink can form a part of someone’s sexual identity, is not limited to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual or transgender (or gender non-conforming) experience.

  • Does Keith Lemon have a wife?

People want to know if Keith Lemon has a wife… but first, is Keith Lemon actually a real person?

As thousands of people want to find out if Keith Lemon has a wife, we should put it out there that Keith Lemon is a character, not a real person. He’s the brainchild of actor Leigh Francis.

But yes, to answer your question, Keith Lemon – or rather Leigh Francis does have a wife. Leigh Francis is married to Jill Carter, a beauty therapist, and the pair has two children together. Together they live in North London.

    Who is Keith Lemon?

Leigh admitted that the character of Keith Lemon is loosely based on a friend, whose name is also Keith Lemon…

The character’s first appearance was in 2000 during a show called Whatever I Want. The show also showcased Leigh’s two other characters Avid Merrion and The Bear.

In terms of sexuality, Keith Lemon hasn’t yet identified as gay or bi but has long been described as camp and flamboyant by the UK’s press. His fake tan, bleached hair have all added to speculation about the character’s sexuality.

On his show Celebrity Juice, Tom Daley hit the headlines when he revealed that he was gay, not bisexual and that he was dating Dustin Lance Black.

Keith Lemon currently fronts three shows for ITV, his long-running game/magazine show formatted Celebrity Juice and Through The Keyhole.

In 2015 ITV 2 started airing The Keith Lemon Sketch Show.

Leigh Francis is in his early 40s he was born on 30th April 1973.

And if you’re wondering why Keith also has bandages around his hand the story has changed, from a Kangaroo attack to just being a prop to help Leigh remember to stay in character. However, there are other suggestions that the bandage covers up an explicit tattoo.

Presenter and comedian Alan Carr has married his now actor husband, Paul Drayton, after being together for ten years. The star’s publicist confirmed the marriage. The pair had a “small, private ceremony” in the US.

The couple were engaged last year when they were on holiday in Indonesia. Despite the country’s poor LGBT rights record of late, the Lombok hotel’s management was in on the proposal.

The engagement ring was hidden in Alan’s dessert, and when he found the ring the hotel’s organist started playing Elton John’s “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and the hotel’s staff starting singing.

He said that at first, he thought he had broken a filling after biting into the dessert, but discovered that it was actually a ring.

    Away from prying eyes

According to The Sun, the couple decided to wed in Los Angeles to be away from “prying eyes” where they would not be recognised.

The pair jetted off to South America to celebrate the wedding.

Despite the small wedding both Alan and Paul are planning a “big celebration” for all their friends and family later on this summer to celebrate their marriage, according to the publicist.

Previously Alan said that he wanted singer Adele to perform at his wedding.

  • Does will i am have a wife?

    Is Will I Am Married?

    IS will i am married?

With The Voice UK starting up again, the questions surrounding the star’s love life have started to emerge and people are interested to know if will i am is married or not.

Will.i.am is extraordinarily private about his love life and has complained that he’s too busy with work to find love. So it’s difficult to determine his sexuality or whether he is in a relationship with anyone.

What we do know is, is that Will I Am is very pro-LGBT. He has spoken up for gay rights in the past. He was pro-gay marriage saying, “People should be able to marry and be with who they want, and let’s focus on the real issues… which are education, health and the things that kill people.”

He once released a song which included lyrics about same-sex love. He said, “That song is for all types of people… People have been showing love.”

So is he married? No will is not married.

  • Are Jedward gay?

The ever bubbly Jedward have been making headlines since their discovery on X Factor in 2009… But there’s one question thousands of people want to know… apparently.

    Are jedward gay?

    Are the Jedward brothers gay?

In 2011 brothers Edward and John insisted that they weren’t gay and they are attracted to women and have dated girls. They hit out over speculation that their OTT and flamboyant performance style made some fans think the duo were gay. The brothers maintain that they “like lots of girls” revealing that they don’t care what people think about them or about their sexuality.

The pair have been incredibly tight-lipped about their love life, choosing to never talk openly about the people they’ve dated.  Speaking to Dan Wooton at The Sun, Edward said,  “We meet girls all the time. Our fans have always know who we are. But others knows a different type of Jedward on from the different shows.

“I think because on stage we wear sequins people go ‘oh they must be a bit out there’.

John added, We do whatever what we want to do. We know who we are and what we are a lot of guys try so hard to be masculine and we’re able to have stubble and play guitar. We have had relationships. I’ve had two long-term relationships that were private. That wasn’t part of my career.”

So there you have it. John and Edward have said they aren’t gay or bisexual. It’s 2018 does it really matter anyway?

  • Guys, here’s why you might be finding it hard to get hard

When a reader confided that he can’t stay hard, we decided to have a look at some of the reasons why your erection might be elusive.

I'm Finding It Hard To Get A Hard On

Last year Jeff, asked THEGAYUK why he kept on losing his erections. There are many reasons from stresses to tiredness, medical to emotional. There are many reasons. So here’s what we found out.

First of all, don’t give yourself a hard time about not being able to get a hard-on. It happens to the best of us at the worst of times – and stressing about it can actually make the situation worse. So take a moment and breathe.

It sounds as though you’re suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED). Lots of things can cause ED; from being too stressed out at work to money worries. Even lifestyle choices such as too much alcohol or drug taking can hinder a strong erection.

The problem might also be prescribed medication. For instance, some depression medications say that ED is a potential side effect. You can read more about that here. You might want to check and see if any side effects listed by the meds include ED. Do not come off any prescribed meds with out talking to your GP first.

There are a variety of things you can do to try to get your little Mr back up and working again, but first of all, see whether you can get an erection when you’re by yourself – or during your sleep.

    Take the erection test

There’s a very simple test to see whether you get erections during your sleep. One of the tests is the famous stamp test. If you can still get a row of stamps that are joined by a perforated edge you can perform this in the comfort of your own home.

Before you go to bed put a row of four or five joined stamps around the shaft of your flaccid penis and seal by moistening the two ends together. If any of the perforations between the stamps is broken in the morning you’ll know that you are getting nocturnal erections, because your enlarged penis will naturally break the perforations between the stamps. This test can help you rule out a more serious erectile dysfunction because you know that you can physically have an erection.

If this is the case take a look at external factors such as your workload or your alcohol consumption. As frustrated as you might be, you just might need to take your time with this.

If you don’t break the perforations, then you might consider getting an appointment with your GP, who should be able to help you find a medical solution.

There are a number of other at home tests you can do like the Rigiscan and The Penile Plethysmograph.

    Meds?

You could try Viagra or a herbal supplement available in Holland and Barratt called Horny Goatweed. You should definitely seek the advice from your doctor if you’re planning to try out medications.

    Condoms Problems

If your problem is being caused by wearing condoms then you’ll be able to find a wide variety now that are different shapes, sizes and yes, there’s even a musical one. Don’t let your Jonny be a problem for your Johnson.

You might not need a full erection to have full on sex

It’s important not to let this ruin your sex life – there are many options available to you – and you can even have sex without having a full erection or taking the pressure off yourself by focusing on your partner rather than your erection.

    Communication

Talking your issues over with your partner may also help as well. It’s important to keep communication open between partners if you’re going through a tough time.

  • Magazines dump photographers following allegations from male models

Magazines dump photographers following allegations from male models

Vogue and GQ owners, Condé Nast have ended their working relationship with two photographers after male models alleged sexual abuse.

Mario Testino, 63, and Bruce Weber, 71, have had any future commissions cancelled by the media giant, Condé Nast. The two photographers have been accused of the sexual misconduct of a number of male models.

The claims were reported by New York Times and contain allegations dating back to the 1990s.

Both Weber and Testino have denied any wrong-doing, with both saying that they were “shocked” by the claims against them.

Weber said, “I’m completely shocked and saddened by the outrageous claims, being made against me, which I absolutely deny”.

Testino’s lawyers, according to NYT “challenged the characters and credibility of people who complained of harassment”.

Models and assistants described to the NYT a “pattern of what they said was unnecessary nudity and coercive sexual behaviour”.

Anna Wintour, the artistic director of Condé Nast, released a statement confirming that commissions for the two world-famous photographers, saying, ”

“We are deeply disturbed by these accusations and take this very seriously. In light of these allegations, we will not be commissioning any new work with Bruce Weber and Mario Testino for the foreseeable future.”

Condé Nast has changed its code of conduct and new rules surrounding photoshoots have been updated to include, that models must be over 18, a strict no drugs or alcohol rule and models must approve shoots that include nudity, sheer clothing or undergarments.
