  • Steve Grand Nekkid “the gayest thing I’ve ever seen!”

Steve Grand got completely naked for the annual charity Broadway Bares gig in San Francisco…

And it’s getting people very very hot under the collar and people are very vocal about it.

One fan commenting that the performance by Steve Grand and his two dancers was “the gayest thing” he had ever scene, whilst others were far more concerned being able to concentrate on anything other than what was under that jockstrap.

The gay singer was taking part in the Broadway Bares: ManuSTRIPT hosted in San Francisco, which ran concurrently with its New York City sister show Broadway Bares: Strip U.

The show was raising funds for HIV service via REAF in SF and through Broadway Cares in New York.

  • Over 750,000 signed that anti-DUP/Tory coalition petition, it will now be delivered to Number10

A petition with over 750,000 signatures will be handed to Number 10 Downing Street as people make their feelings about a DUP/Tory coalition known.

A petition which attracted over 750,000 signatures against a DUP/Tory coalition government has come to an end and its author, Stuart Veaney, will deliver it to Theresa May in 10 Downing Street.

In a statement on the petition page, Mr Veaney said,

“I have decided to listen to the majority & this petition has now finished. Unfortunately we did not reach our target of 1,000,000 but 750k is an amazing achievement.

Thank you so much for your support & I will post an update shortly regarding the delivery of your signatures to No 10.”

In total 753,269 people signed the petition.

Theresa May was unable to secure a majority Government after the results of her snap election revealed a shortfall and overall lost in seats, winning only 318 seats. Propped by DUP’s 10 seats, Ms May would have a majority of just two seats. The Conservatives did have a majority of five before the election.

The petition is hosted on the change.org platform and it remains to be seen whether the cause will be debated in Parliament as per the rules, that any petition that surpasses 100,000 signatures will be considered for debate in Parliament. However, the official UK Government petitioning site is not accepting any new petitions as they are waiting for a new petitions committee.

  • 10 things you never knew about Miss Hope Springs

    Hope Springs Eternal.

The perfect antidote to election fatigue is coming to a town near you. Miss Hope Springs the former international Las Vegas showgirl is currently touring the UK with her new show The Devil Made Me Do It.  Illuminating the stage with sequins and bringing a ray of rainbow sunshine, Miss Hope Springs has a black humour and intricacy of lyrics which will resonate with anyone who has clawed their way to the top and chipped every manicured nail on the way back down.

More than drag, Hope Springs is a composer, lyricist and comedy cabaret act, with a performance harking back to the good old days of variety shows.  A civilised evening of intelligent entertainment, witty, comedic and heartfelt songs, Miss Hope Springs will treat you to belly laughs and teary eyes in equal entertaining measure.

A five-star evening out for anyone looking for a break from the norm.

Shuggie Hughes delves deep into Miss Hope Springs Below:

    1. What should every woman try at least once in her life?

I think every woman should, at least once in her life, try getting in touch with her deepest inner parts. If, like me, your husband won’t help out then get a professional in to help. It’s good to blow away those cobwebs. My husband Irving said I’m a born psychologist, or is it psychopath? Well I know it’s something to do with the mind.

    2. You have been linked to Manilow and Liberace would you say you have a type?

I always have a thing for men with that understated masculine energy. Like Noel Coward…and your Julian Clary. He really does something for me! Liberace was just adorable. His subtle sense of style…A little on the macho side for my taste…but still.

    3. What did the devil make you do?

You’ll have to come and find out for yourself at one of my shows darling. The Devil Made Me Do It is a tell-all musical romp down my own personal memory lane through my original songs and revealing stories from my Ritz to the pits life. And trust me…it’s not always a pretty sight!

    4. What is the best advice you’ve been given?

‘They’ll never buy the cow if they can get the milk for free’. I don’t know what it means …but I like the sound of it. My grandmother Elke Seltzer used to say it to me all the time when I was a little girl growing up in Paradise, Nevada (a trailer park) just outside Las Vegas. She was a strip…I mean exotic dancer.

    5. Who is your musical inspiration?

Well as you know I am a composer and lyricist and my tastes are pretty broad. My influences go from Cole Porter and George Gershwin to bands that are totally ‘down-with-the-kids’ such as The Beatles and The Carpenters. No one can say I haven’t kept up with the times.

    6. What does fame/stardom mean to you?

It’s a heavy torch to carry sometimes. Especially when you’re doing a quick dash round Lidyl in sequinned kaftan, huge sunglasses and matching turban-kitten heels combo, you know…when you just want to be incognito. People keep staring at me and pointing, often shouting things like ‘There she goes…I saw her she shove half a dozen of them down her Spanx.’ You get used to the attention though. I think it’s rather sweet. I don’t know where I’d be without my fans…

    7. What is on your bucket list?

Funnily enough. A bucket…Can I have a spade and a plastic crab too? Oh and one of those little flags? Seriously though. I plan to win a Daytime Emmy, an Oscar and the Nobel Peace Prize.

    8. What are the last three items on your credit card statement?

Vaseline, a macrame plant holder and a crate of Cif.

    9. What quote do you live by?

‘Carlos! Open the Sauvignon Blanc and it better be chilled to perfection or else.’ (Carlos is my husband’s delightful hairdresser pal. We all share a camper van in Dungeness. When Irving told me he was getting a little camper I was like ‘I don’t think that’s possible!’

    10. What is one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?

To start lying about my age sooner. Once I started it was too late to go backwards. I’ve been 39 for 30 years now and I think it might be wearing a bit thin. Listen…I’m no angel…but I get by…and one word of advice for those of you who may find yourself in any kind of trouble…just say Hope told you to say The Devil Made Me Do It!

  • Watch Duncan James and Adam Rickitt have a cheeky snog

Duncan James and Adam Rickitt have got it on…

Okay, it’s only for television but it totally makes our day.Check out this first look promo from e4.

Speaking about working with Duncan, Adam said in a recent interview,

“It’s been funny – I’ve known Duncan for years. When I first got the part and they mentioned that Kyle would be gay, I was like, “Oh, that’s fine as long as it’s not with Duncan…” because he was such a good mate. They were like, “Erm… well it is with Duncan”. [laughs] In some respect, you think it’s going to be really awkward because I’d known him for so long, but then at the same time it was really good because he’s such a nice guy and we are good mates! So, my first ever boy-on-boy kiss was with Duncan from Blue! That’s definitely a benchmark! [laughs]”

  • Tim Farron steps down as Lib Dem leader

The leader of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron has stepped down.

Tim Farron quits the Lib Dem leadership

First, it was UKIP’s leader, Paul Nuttall, now it’s the turn of the Liberal Democrat’s leader, Tim Farron to bow out of party leadership.

The leader who was consistently asked about his views on the sinfulness homosexuality during the election campaign said that he was “torn between living as a faithful Christian and serving as a political leader”.

During a press conference, Mr Farron said that he recognised that he should have dealt with certain questions that related to his faith “more wisely”.

During the campaign, Mr Farron was asked numerous times about his thoughts on the sinfulness of homosexuality and whether gay sex was a sin. Although he did manage to answer once on both questions, he found it almost impossible to give a straight answer whenever he was questioned on the subject.

Mr Farron became the party leader in 2015 after a close battle with Norman Lamb. His leadership was backed by one of the UK’s highest-profile openly gay peers, Brian Paddick, who yesterday also resigned, citing concerns over Tim Farron’s views.

Possible successors include Sir Vince Cable, Jo Swinson, Sir Ed Davey and Norman Lamb.

Post-election, the Liberal Democrats did manage to add seats in the latest election, however, it was a far cry from the hoped-for resurgence of the Lib Dems since most of their seats were wiped out following a coalition with the Tories from 2010 to 2015.

  • Lib Dem peer resigns over Tim Farron’s views

Brian Paddick has resigned his post as the Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary citing concerns over Tim Farron’s views.

Brian Paddick resigns the Lib Dems

One of the UK’s most powerful LGBT Peers and the Liberal Democrat’s highest profile gay member, Brian Paddick has, today, resigned his position as the Shadow Home Secretary over “concerns” about Tim Farron’s views.

Taking to Twitter Brian Paddick said,

“I’ve resigned as LibDems Shadow Home Secretary over concerns about the leader’s views on various issues that were highlighted during GE17.”

    https://twitter.com/brianpaddick/status/874976886069374976

During the GE2017 campaign, Tim Farron was unable to answer, numerous times, about his beliefs surrounding the sinfulness of homosexuality. Although did say that he didn’t think that homosexuality or gay sex was a sin, he failed to answer further questioning on LBC’s breakfast show.

Lord Paddick did not go into detail about which of Mr Farron’s views he had taken issue with.

In 2015, Mr Paddick had been a vocal supporter of Tim Farron’s during and after the announcement of Farron as the new Lib Dem leader, telling THEGAYUK,

“Tim Farron has come under a lot of criticism from people who either deliberately or simply misread Tim’s position when it came to votes in the House of Commons on equal marriage,

“He did ask for a change in the timetable to allow more discussion over complex issues around people who have honestly held beliefs who are currently employed as registrars, for example, who would feel very uncomfortable because it conflicts with their faith to conduct an equal marriage ceremony. He felt not enough time had been allowed in the parliamentary time belt to discuss those issues.

“As the Liberal Democrats’ gayest highest profile member I am absolutely confident that I can vote for Tim Farron and that he is absolutely 100% behind LGBTI rights.”

The Liberal Democrats did manage to add seats in the latest election, however, it was a far cry from the hoped-for resurgence of the Lib Dems since most of their seats were wiped out following a coalition with the Tories from 2010 to 2015.

  • Jakub and Dawid from Poland have just got married against all odds

Ahhh! So sweet, Jakub and Dawid, the internet sensations from Poland have got married in a stunning cliff side wedding in Madeira.

    CREDIT: Magdalena Sobieska

Despite the criticism and homophobic they have faced in their homeland, Polish couple Jakub and Dawid have finally tied the knot, although not in their own country because Poland does not yet have same-sex marriage.

In a statement the couple said,

“It’s sad that we cannot get married in Poland but we are aware that’s not gonna be changed anytime soon in our country, so decided to have it abroad.

“I wish our grandmothers and grandfathers were with us but the journey would have been too exhausting them so we really missed them. If we were allowed to have this ceremony in Poland they would have been allowed to share these moments with us”.

The couple invited 20 members of their family and friends including Dawid’s mum, two brothers and Jakub’s sister according to guests at the wedding the couple’s “dreams finally came true”.

    Congrats guys!!!

  • You won’t believe what age Colton Haynes lost his virginity to a guy

Colton Haynes has revealed at what age he lost his virginity – and it was young!

So Colton Haynes has revealed something about his sex life in an extraordinarily candid interview with SiriusXM radio host Andy Cohen. During the interview Colton opened up about the first time he had sex and apparently, he lost his virginity to a male and female at the same time.

The Arrow actor revealed that he was just barely a teenager when he had sex with both a guy and a girl.

    The 28-year-old revealed,

“I lost my virginity at 13 to a girl and a guy,

“I’ve never said that before. The girl was two years older than me, and the guy was, I would say, around 16.”

And it happened at the same time… although he did say it wasn’t a threesome, however, “everyone participated” and “it was exciting”.

The TV star came out as gay in 2016 and got engaged to his boyfriend, Jeff Leatham, not once but twice.

  • 10 Things You Know If You’re An LGBTQ+ From The ’10s

    Aah, the ’10s.

Ofsted Adds Homophobic Bullying into Inspections

This seemingly small act in 2012 ensured that schools took a stand against homophobia. A 2014 Stonewall teachers’ report found that “the proportion of teachers who say their school has a policy that explicitly addresses homophobic bullying has increased significantly: in primary schools from 19 percent in 2009 to 31 percent in 2014, in secondary schools from 30 percent in 2009 to 55 percent in 2014.” However, the report also states that most teachers believe there’s a lack of leadership standing to tackle homophobic bully and fewer than 1/5 teachers say their schools’ library has LGBTQ+ information books. Only 8% of primary school teachers and 16% of secondary school teachers say they’ve had specific training to deal with homophobic bullying, so while the 2012 act added homophobic bullying to Ofsted reports there’s a long way to go from there. But it’s a clear sign that times are changing to include LGBTQ+ students in governing reports and not just acknowledge the potential danger they may face but actually do something to change it.

The Marriage Act (For Same-Sex Couples)

Just one year later, this act was passed in England & Wales in 2013 and two years later in June in 2015 in the USA. Civil Partnerships were granted in 2004 giving essentially the same rights and responsibilities as heterosexual married couples – but why go above and beyond to instil and enforce the difference of same-sex relationships in a whole new act? Well, now gay couples can have the same legal standing of marriage as straight couples thanks to Maria Miller, the Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee who introduced the act. The first same-sex marriages in the UK took place on the 29th of March in 2014. Love wins!

    Ellen Page Coming Out

Her speech in 2014 for the Human Rights Campaign was groundbreaking. It made global headlines and many praised Page for her bravery and honesty. Ellen Degeneres, Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Lambert and Ricky Martin paved the way for celebrities like Page to come out but Page’s speech covered the crushing standards of beauty the industry puts on everyone – not just young people – and how the ideology of being a certain way forces you to act a certain way. She discussed the bullying, the secrecy, the boxed-in claustrophobic feeling of being in the closet out of the toxic fear of being outed. She chastised the narrow views of femininity and masculinity and how they serve no purpose in contemporary society. She made you think and feel and cheer and cry and it was (and continues to be) one of the most empowering speeches for LGBTQ+ youth who feel oppressed by the norms and values of society. I will never forget how she talked so openly and honestly without painting everything black and white. But if you take just one thing away from her speech, let it be that you can make a difference by loving yourself. Because that’s where you start loving other people and that’s how you save lives. Not by being horrible to other people but by loving each other.

    Caitlyn Jenner’s Public Transition

Love her or hate her, there’s no denying that the media’s attention was laser-focused on Cait after she came out as a transgender woman in April 2015. She’s not the best advocate for the LGBTQ+ community but the truth is she helped bring the limelight to transgender rights and the discrimination the marginalised group suffer daily. Many people didn’t even know what being transgender meant before Cait. Bruce Jenner, the Olympic gold medallist, showed the world anybody can feel like they don’t belong. Of course, let’s also not forget the important work of Laverne Cox, the Wachowskis and Aydian Dowling.

    The Explosion of Dating Apps

A plethora of never-ending headless torsos at your beck and scroll. With such an endless selection of gay apps – from Grindr, BoyAhoy, SCRUFF, Adam4Adam, GuySpy, Hornet, Jack’d to GROWLr – there’s a noticeable lack of lesbian-centric dating apps. HER is essentially the only one tailored specifically for queer women. You could always just select a women-only feature on Tinder, Bumble, OKCupid, etc. but why is there such a large dating market for queer men and not for queer women?

Ginger Minj Losing RuPaul’s Drag Race to Violet Chachki

Violet is a great queen (don’t come for me Violet stans) but Ginger, regardless of how many times she was in the bottom two compared to Violet’s safe streak, was undeniably the standout star of the season. To this day it irks me that the skinny queen with the snatched waist won over the most multi-talented comedy queen in RuPaul history. It seemed like Violet’s “redemption” arc was shoehorned in the last 3 episodes as a set-up to make her likeable. Ginger was consistently funny, heart-warming and bled her larger than life personality into every performance. I just think America’s Next Drag Superstar should be more than just a pretty face with a good aesthetic. Sue me.

    Stonewall Film

Controversy controversy controversy. Definitely a lower point in the LGBTQ+ community. The white-washing and white saviour narrative depicted in the film, although tiresome and ignorant of real-life history, actually highlighted one of the biggest problems in our community: the glorification of white gay males. Now, Stonewall could have significantly played upon this trope in a satirical social commentary and made a point of casting mainly white, attractive males – even if it is a stretch to suppose the potential of a film that ignores a large portion of its real life history. Instead of addressing these issues, whatsoever, producer and director Roland Emmerich responded to the commentary saying, “I didn’t make this movie only for gay people, I made it also for straight people… As a director, you have to put yourself in your movies, and I’m white and gay.” There’s no logical response to the oblivious ignorance of this comment, but he didn’t stop there. He went on to claim the gargantuan failure of the box office on “one voice on the internet who saw a trailer and said, this is whitewashing Stonewall. Stonewall was a white event, let’s be honest. But nobody wanted to hear that any more.” Despite whatever twisted ethnocentric version of history Emmerich believes happened, people of colour, drag queens and lesbians (surprise, surprise, the film features one poorly portrayed openly lesbian character) all participated and played a huge role in the pivotal Stonewall Riots, don’t let this flop of a film tell you otherwise.

    The Pulse Massacre

49 people were killed and 53 were injured in the Orlando nightclub shooting, one of the biggest mass shootings in American history. I guess it shouldn’t be this surprising that horrible, horrible occurrences like this still happen. We often take for granted how far the LGBTQ+ movement has come and all the sacrifices made to give us the (somewhat limited) freedom we have today. But it’s events like these that bring us closer together, in grief and in loss we remember and we reflect and we never let our voices go unheard. For the 49 people killed, for the 53 people injured, we must continue being unapologetically ourselves and demand the treatment every human being deserves – labels and categories and boxes be damned. In Trump’s America we can’t let anything divide us and we can never, ever forget.

David Bowie, George Michael, Prince, Pete Burns, Alexis Arquette and Carrie Fisher

All great LGBTQ+ icons. All taken too soon in the same year. There’s not much else to say but to remember their lives and their accomplishments with nothing but love in our hearts for each time they stood up for us.

Moonlight first LGBT film to win Best Picture at the Oscars

2015 may have flopped with Stonewall, but 2016 made up for it with Moonlight. Not only was it the first LGBT film to feature an all-black cast, it explored sexual identity and masculinity within the African-American community with a poignancy deserving of all its won awards. Critics and fans alike love it, which hopefully tells big execs what representation and what untold stories the worldwide audience is hungry for. Let’s continue to move forward, not backwards, and fill cinemas and awards lists with sensationally progressive films like Moonlight.
